The engine of claim 1, wherein the first support member includes a support bracket disposed on one side of the first belt portion between the tension pulley and the idler pulley, and a support block disposed on an opposite side of the first belt portion between the tension pulley and the idler pulley, the support bracket and the support block securing the first shield in a direction perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine.
3. The engine of claim 2, wherein the portion of the first hood parallel to the front end housing of the engine is fixed to the support bracket by a fixing member, the support block and the connecting portion are fixed by a fixing member, and the connecting portion is vertically fixed to the portion of the first hood perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine.
4. An engine as claimed in claim 2, wherein the support bracket comprises a first bracket part which is secured to the engine housing and which is provided with at least two internally threaded sleeves, and correspondingly the securing means between the support bracket and the first shield is a threaded securing means.
5. An engine as set forth in claim 4, wherein said support block is provided with an internally threaded bore and, correspondingly, the fastener between the support block and the first shield is a threaded fastener.
6. The engine of claim 2, wherein the first idler pulley and the tension pulley are mounted to the engine front end housing by a second support member, the second support member being secured to a portion of the first shroud that is perpendicular to the engine front end housing by a fastener.
7. An engine as defined in claim 6, wherein the second support member is provided with at least two internally threaded bores having an axis perpendicular to the portion of the first shield which is perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine, and correspondingly the fastening between the second support member and the portion of the first shield which is perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine is a threaded fastening.
8. The engine of claim 1, further comprising a second shield fixed to a third support member for fixing the generator to the front end housing of the engine, wherein the third support member is fixed to a bottom position of a side of the front end housing of the engine, and the pulley of the generator and a front end portion of the generator are located in a second shield space formed by the second shield.
9. An engine as set forth in claim 8 wherein a side of the second shield extends to the crankshaft pulley such that the second shield covers the second belt portion between the generator pulley and the crankshaft pulley and moving toward the crankshaft pulley.
10. An engine as set forth in claim 9 wherein the second guard extends to the side edge of the crankshaft pulley flush with the face of the crankshaft pulley about which the second drive pulley is journaled.
11. An engine as claimed in claim 8, wherein the third support member is provided with at least three internally threaded sleeves arranged with their axes non-collinear, the internally threaded sleeves having their axes perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine, the second support member being secured to the second shroud parallel to the front end housing of the engine by means of the internally threaded sleeves and a threaded fastener.
12. The engine of claim 11, wherein the third support member is provided with an internally threaded hole at each of upper and lower portions of the generator, and the second support member is fixed to a portion of the second shroud perpendicular to the front end housing of the engine by the internally threaded hole and a threaded fixing member.
13. A mining vehicle, characterised in that an engine according to any one of claims 1-12 is provided.
