背景技术

期望能使用不限于用户PC的便携式装置来使用此种类型的自动网页内容检索***。此种便携式装置能允许用户在任意位置自动***的网页内容，而非仅仅是在用户使用台式机PC时。然而，能够扫描条形码的便携式装置还没有广泛采用。此外，对于扫描PaperClick码或UPC码的人而言，能立即看到结果是极方便的，即使他们不在计算机旁。本发明便携式装置的预期应用是用户进入Barnes & Noble商店，察看他喜欢的书，扫描书背面的条形码，并察看Amazon.com的价格，所有这些都不涉及人们通常会考虑的计算机的任何事情。
发明内容
本发明是具有嵌入式或附加式照相机并具有无线互联网访问能力的蜂窝电话，适于使条形码符号成像并自动检索相关的网页内容，而不是像现有技术中一样将用户限制到台式机PC。本发明使用适于执行在此所述预定功能的拍照电话。通过使用根据本发明的拍照电话，可为具有此种拍照电话的消费者提供以下增值功能：拍摄商品上的条形码，使拍照电话自动获得有关该商品的信息，获得的商品信息例如是来自搜索引擎或广告(sponsored)网页内容的价格。
本发明使用一种在具有内置照相机和网页浏览器的蜂窝电话上运行的客户程序。当用户启动拍照电话上的客户程序时，它提供照相机所拍摄图像的实时屏幕显示。当用户按下触发器时，拍照电话捕获该图像，使用基于图像的解码算法来定位并解码条形码，然后调用内置的网页浏览器，利用解码的条形码使它指向在互联网上的解析服务器。解析服务器提取从拍照电话发送的数据，并将该数据以几种方式之一解析成URL，解析方式取决于应用程序(后面描述)。
因此，本发明是一种使用能拍照的蜂窝电话访问来自诸如互联网的计算机网络上的信息服务器计算机的内容的方法。首先，用能拍照蜂窝电话捕获诸如条形码符号的机器可读码的图像。处理捕获的条形码图像以将该条形码解码成为文件标识符，形成包括该文件标识符的请求URL。然后传送请求URL到计算机网络上的解析服务器计算机。在解析服务器计算机处，根据请求URL来确定信息URL。然后将信息URL返回到能拍照蜂窝电话，能拍照蜂窝电话将该信息URL传送到由该信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机。该信息服务器计算机接收信息URL并根据该信息URL将内容返回给能拍照蜂窝电话。
能拍照蜂窝电话发送的请求URL可选地包括用于标识能拍照蜂窝电话某些操作特性(例如浏览器性能)的装置标识符。在此情形中，根据装置标识符来确定信息URL。这允许基于不同装置的显示性能，为不同装置返回不同的信息URL，从而各个装置都检索能在该特定装置上最佳显示的内容。
还可在解析服务器通过从请求URL中提取文件标识符来确定信息URL；然后利用该文件标识符查询数据库。解析服务器数据库具有文件标识符到相关信息URL的多个映射。
在进一步的实施例中，能拍照蜂窝电话使用能拍照蜂窝电话捕获机器可读码的图像，然后处理捕获的图像，以将机器可读码解码成为包含服务器ID和项目ID的文件标识符。形成包括该文件标识符的请求URL。把请求URL传送到计算机网络上的预定网关服务器，该服务器分析服务器ID以确定计算机网络上相关的解析服务器。网关服务器把项目ID发送到和该服务器ID相关联的解析服务器，以根据服务器ID和项目ID来获得信息URL。解析服务器把该信息URL返回到网关服务器，网关服务器和能拍照蜂窝电话交互，从而把该信息URL发送到由该信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机，并根据该信息URL从信息服务器计算机接收内容。

具体实施方式
图1显示了本发明操作的基本框图。能拍照蜂窝电话2(在此还被称为拍照电话)包括：在一个外壳中的数字照相机模块4，显示屏幕10，蜂窝电话收发信机8，处理电路6，以及为简明起见没有示出但对于本领域是公知的各种用户输入装置(例如按键、按钮、麦克风、触摸屏显示屏)以及输出装置(例如扬声器)。注意，虽然在此说明的优选实施例使用集成拍照电话(即具有内置照相机的蜂窝电话)，但本发明还能用于具有附加式照相机的蜂窝电话，例如通过输入/输出端口将照相机附加到电话上。类似的，本发明涵盖使用蜂窝或无线电话以及诸如数字照相机的成像装置的功能的任何装置。

通过本地天线14无线地发送请求URL，并经过蜂窝网络16和互联网18到目的服务器，目的服务器也被称为解析服务器20。解析服务器20接受请求URL并从中分析出条形码数据。解析服务器20然后在映射数据库27中查询该条形码数据，并检索相关的信息URL，然后将该信息URL返回到拍照电话2并转交给网页浏览器程序，然后该程序由信息URL重定向到互联网上适当的信息服务器22。信息URL所请求的内容从信息服务器22发送到拍照电话2上的浏览器并在上面显示给用户。因此，如在此所述的，通过调用电话2上适当的客户软件，用户能使条形码成像或对其拍照，并使与该条形码12相关的内容传送到他的显示屏10。

在替换实施例中，使用被称为网关服务器23的另一个服务器计算机。网关服务器23实际上用作从拍照电话接收请求URL的代理服务器，处理这些请求，并在重定向中把信息URL返回给拍照电话浏览器，或直接把信息服务器内容返回给浏览器而无需在拍照电话的重定向。在该实施例中，条形码符号是如前所述的包括服务器ID和项目ID的文件标识符。服务器ID会标识哪个解析服务器包含项目ID到信息URL的特定映射。在此情况中，会采用一个以上(可能是许多)的解析服务器，从而它们在多个计算机之间分布数据库以及计算要求。这还具有允许多方控制不同解析服务器而非一方控制一个大型解析服务器的优点。
在本实施例中，请求URL包含服务器ID和项目ID，并被发送到网关服务器计算机23。拍照电话发送的每个请求URL都会被发送到相同的网关服务器计算机23(地址实际上被硬编码到运行在拍照电话的客户应用程序中)。网关服务器23从拍照电话接收请求URL，并分析或提取服务器ID。网关服务器23然后分析服务器ID以确定标识的是计算机网络上的哪一个解析服务器(例如通过参考数据库25)。网关服务器然后把项目ID发送到由服务器ID标识的解析服务器20。解析服务器20接收项目ID并执行项目ID的查询以从存储器中检索相关的信息URL。即，解析服务器会准备好指示在哪能发现所请求信息的信息URL。解析服务器然后把该信息URL返回给网关服务器23。
网关服务器然后根据该***是如何配置的，以两种方式之一和拍照电话互操作，在拍照电话处提供信息内容。在一个实施例中，网关服务器发送信息URL到信息服务器，根据该信息URL从信息服务器计算机接收内容，并把从信息服务器接收的内容发送到能拍照的蜂窝电话。
在替换实施例中，网关服务器将该信息URL传送到拍照电话，拍照电话发送信息URL到信息服务器计算机，然后拍照电话根据该信息URL直接从信息服务器计算机接收内容。
目前可用的拍照电话的一个问题是它们是焦距固定的，这意味着该电话适于在“常规”距离拍摄照片，即几英尺到无穷远。不幸的是，这意味着近距离(～3英寸)拍摄的照片十分模糊。然而，为了能从捕获的图像数据解码条形码符号，必须将拍照蜂窝电话放在距离条形码非常近的地方(例如大约2-5英寸)，否则条形码和条形码区域内的空间对于照相机成像器会太过纤细，从而不能正确解码条形码。
如图所示，将焦距近似期望的3英寸距离的凸透镜添加到照相机上。开发出了两种用于本发明的镜头附件。第一实施例(参见图8-图12)具有一组环绕蜂窝电话的“指状元件”，允许夹住镜头，从而将其和电话固定并放在照相机镜头上。这样，能使用附加的添加镜头捕获条形码，同时还能将其移开从而正常的使用拍照电话。

此外，为了帮助用户将条形码定位在距离拍照电话的最佳距离，实时屏幕显示在屏幕上包括索引标记，该标记实际标出矩形的各角。使用索引标记通过将条形码适配到索引标记内来估算拍照电话和条形码之间最佳聚焦的距离。由于UPC码几乎总是标准尺寸，并由于PAPERCLICK专用码是标准高度，将条形码适配到矩形中会使条形码与电话相距特定距离。实际上，距离可能变化约+/-1英寸而不引起显著的恶化，但使用索引标记会帮助用户将条形码放在最佳焦距的视野中央。

Claims (30)

1.一种访问计算机网络上的信息服务器计算机内容的方法，包括步骤：
a.用能拍照蜂窝电话捕获机器可读码的图像；
b.处理所捕获的图像从而将所述机器可读码解码为文件标识符；
c.形成包括所述文件标识符的请求URL；
d.将所述请求URL发送到计算机网络上的解析服务器计算机；
e.在所述解析服务器计算机处根据所述请求URL来确定信息URL；
f.将所述信息URL返回到所述能拍照蜂窝电话；
g.所述能拍照蜂窝电话将所述信息URL传送到由所述信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机；
h.所述信息服务器计算机接收所述信息URL，并根据所述信息URL将内容返回给所述能拍照蜂窝电话。

B.与全球计算机网络互连的解析服务器计算机，所述解析服务器计算机包括处理电路，适于：
a.根据从所述能拍照蜂窝电话接收的请求URL确定信息URL；
b.将所述信息URL返回到所述能拍照蜂窝电话；
其中，所述能拍照蜂窝电话的处理电路进一步适于和所述浏览器程序互操作，从而把从所述解析服务器接收的信息URL传送到由所述信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机；根据所述信息URL从所述信息服务器计算机接收内容；以及在所述显示屏幕上显示所接收的内容。
15.如权利要求14所述的***，其中所述机器可读码是条形码符号。
16.如权利要求15所述的***，其中所述条形码符号和物品相关联。
17.如权利要求15所述的***，其中返回给所述能拍照蜂窝电话的内容与所述物品相关联。
18.如权利要求17所述的***，其中所述条形码符号是UPC码。
19.如权利要求14所述的***，其中所述请求URL还包括装置标识符。
20.如权利要求19所述的***，其中根据所述装置标识符确定所述信息URL。
21.如权利要求14所述的***，其中，解析服务器处理电路适于根据从所述能拍照蜂窝电话接收的请求URL来确定信息URL，这是通过
i.从所述请求URL中提取文件标识符；以及
ii.用所述所述文件标识符查询数据库；所述数据库包括文件标识符到相关信息URL的多个映射。
22.一种用于访问计算机网络上的信息服务器计算机内容的能拍照蜂窝电话，包括：
a.蜂窝电话收发信机；
b.数字照相机模块；
c.显示屏幕；以及
d.处理电路，适于：
i.使所述蜂窝电话收发信机选择性地和蜂窝电话网络通信，发出并接收蜂窝电话呼叫，以及通过浏览器程序和全球计算机网络上的服务器计算机通信；
ii.通过所述数字照相机模块捕获机器可读码的图像；
iii.处理所捕获的图像从而将所述机器可读码解码成为文件标识符；
iv.形成包括所述文件标识符的请求URL；
v.通过所述蜂窝电话收发信机将所述请求URL传送到全球计算机网络上的解析服务器计算机；
vi.从所述解析服务器接收由所述解析服务器根据所述请求URL确定的信息URL；
vii.和所述浏览器程序互操作，把从所述解析服务器接收的信息URL传送到由所述信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机；
viii.根据所述信息URL从所述信息服务器计算机接收内容；以及
ix.在所述显示屏幕上显示所接收的内容。
23.一种用于访问计算机网络上的信息服务器计算机内容的能拍照蜂窝电话，包括外壳，所述能拍照蜂窝电话包括：
a.蜂窝电话收发信机；
b.数字照相机模块，包括照相机镜头；
c.显示屏幕；以及
d.处理电路，适于：
i.使所述蜂窝电话收发信机选择性地和蜂窝电话网络通信，发出并接收蜂窝电话呼叫，以及通过浏览器程序和全球计算机网络上的服务器计算机通信；
ii.通过所述数字照相机模块捕获机器可读码的图像；
iii.处理所捕获的图像从而将所述机器可读码解码成为文件标识符；
iv.形成包括所述文件标识符的请求URL；
v.通过所述蜂窝电话收发信机将所述请求URL传送到全球计算机网络上的网关服务器计算机；
vi.从所述网关服务器计算机接收由相关解析服务器根据所述请求URL确定的信息URL；
vii.和所述浏览器程序互操作，把从所述网关服务器接收的信息URL传送到由所述信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机；
viii.根据所述信息URL从所述信息服务器计算机接收内容；以及
ix.在所述显示屏幕上显示所接收的内容。
24.如权利要求23所述的能拍照蜂窝电话，进一步包括外部镜头模块，所述外部镜头模块适于安装在所述外壳上，从而和所述照相机镜头对准，并将所述机器可读码放大到足以允许成功解码所捕获的机器可读码图像的程度。
25.如权利要求24所述的能拍照蜂窝电话，其中所述外部镜头模块夹在所述外壳上。
26.如权利要求24所述的能拍照蜂窝电话，其中所述外部镜头模块和所述外壳滑动地结合。
27.一种用于访问计算机网络上的信息服务器计算机内容的能拍照蜂窝电话，包括外壳，所述能拍照蜂窝电话包括：
a.蜂窝电话收发信机；
b.数字照相机模块，包括照相机镜头；
c.显示屏幕；以及
d.处理电路，适于：
i.使所述蜂窝电话收发信机选择性地和蜂窝电话网络通信，发出并接收蜂窝电话呼叫，以及通过浏览器程序和全球计算机网络上的服务器计算机通信；
ii.通过所述数字照相机模块捕获机器可读码的图像；
iii.处理所捕获的图像从而将所述机器可读码解码成为文件标识符；
iv.形成包括所述文件标识符的请求URL；
v.通过所述蜂窝电话收发信机将所述请求URL传送到全球计算机网络上的网关服务器计算机；
vi.从所述网关服务器计算机接收由相关解析服务器根据所述请求URL确定的信息URL；
vii.和浏览器程序互操作，把从所述网关服务器接收的信息URL传送到由所述信息URL指定的信息服务器计算机；
viii.根据所述请求URL通过所述网关服务器从所述信息服务器计算机接收内容；以及
ix.在所述显示屏幕上显示所接收的内容。
28.如权利要求27所述的能拍照蜂窝电话，进一步包括外部镜头模块，所述外部镜头模块适于安装在所述外壳上，从而和所述照相机镜头对准，并将所述机器可读码放大到足以允许成功解码所捕获的机器可读码图像的程度。
