技术领域
本公开涉及一种具有区域调光(local dimming)功能的光源驱动电路及光源驱动方法。
背景技术
在目前的多区域调光显示设备中,光晕现象一直是造成图像质量(PictureQuality,PQ)不佳的原因之一。在显示设备显示中低灰阶时,光晕现象会特别的明显。具体而言,在中低灰阶时,具有多区域调光功能的显示设备容易因为空间滤波器的设计以及背光区域的多寡,而造成图像的边缘出现光晕,导致人眼感受到的视觉质量下降。在现有的多区域调光显示设备中,其空间滤波器的设计都是使用一种滤波器参数予图像的全部像素信号,而不论其所具有的灰阶值的高低。因此,现有的多区域调光显示设备可能会有低灰阶不易有光晕,但高灰阶亮度不足的现象,或者低灰阶易有光晕,高灰阶亮度有待提升的现象。
发明内容
本公开提供一种光源驱动电路及光源驱动方法,其滤波器在各灰阶采用不同的滤波器参数,可优化光源驱动电路的区域调光功能,提高显示面板的显示质量。
本公开的光源驱动电路包括滤波器。滤波器用以接收像素信号。滤波器根据像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数。滤波器根据所选择的滤波器参数对像素信号进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号来驱动光源模块。多个滤波器参数包括第一滤波器参数、第二滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数。第二滤波器参数是由滤波器对第一滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数进行内插计算而得。
在本公开的实施例中,当像素信号的灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值时,滤波器选择第一滤波器参数。
在本公开的实施例中,当像素信号的灰阶值大于第一阈值且小于第二阈值时,滤波器选择第二滤波器参数。
在本公开的实施例中,当像素信号的灰阶值大于或等于第二阈值时,滤波器选择第三滤波器参数。
在本公开的实施例中,上述的像素信号包括多个像素的像素数据,滤波器根据像素数据的最大值及像素数据的平均值计算出像素信号的灰阶值。
本公开的光源驱动方法用于驱动光源模块。光源驱动方法包括:接收像素信号;根据像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数;以及根据所选择的滤波器参数对像素信号进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号来驱动光源模块。多个滤波器参数包括第一滤波器参数、第二滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数。第二滤波器参数是由第一滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数进行内插计算而得。
在本公开的实施例中,根据像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数的步骤包括:当像素信号的灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值时,选择第一滤波器参数。
在本公开的实施例中,根据像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数的步骤包括:当像素信号的灰阶值大于第一阈值且小于第二阈值时,选择第二滤波器参数。

图1A示出本公开一实施例的显示装置的光源驱动电路的方块示意图。图1B示出图1A实施例的滤波器参数的概要示意图。请参考图1A及图1B,光源驱动电路100包括滤波器110。滤波器110用以接收像素信号S1。滤波器110根据像素信号S1的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数FT1、FT2、FT3中选择一个滤波器参数。接着,滤波器110根据所选择的滤波器参数对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200。在一实施例中,驱动信号S2例如为脉冲宽度调制(Pulse Width Modulation,PWM)信号,用来驱动光源模块200的发光单元。
在本实施例中,光源驱动电路100具有区域调光(local dimming)功能,可用来驱动光源模块200的局部区域发光。光源模块200可作为显示面板(未示出)的光源,可提供光源给显示面板。例如,显示面板可为液晶显示面板,光源模块200可作为显示面板的背光源,且显示设备可为液晶显示设备,惟本公开对显示设备的种类不加以限制。光源模块200的发光单元可包括发光二极管芯片或发光二极管封装。举例而言,光源模块200可以是一或多个串联或并联的发光二极管,或者一或多个串联或并联的发光二极管串。发光二极管可如前述,于此不再重述。
在本实施例中,滤波器110可以是通过硬件描述语言(Hardware DescriptionLanguage,HDL)或是其他任意本领域技术人员所熟知的数字电路的设计方式来进行设计,并通过现场可程序逻辑门数组(Field Programmable Gate Array,FPGA)、复杂可程序逻辑装置(Complex Programmable Logic Device,CPLD)或是特殊应用集成电路(Application-specific Integrated Circuit,ASIC)的方式来实现的硬件电路。或者,在一实施例中,滤波器110可以为具运算能力的处理器。
在本实施例中,滤波器参数包括第一滤波器参数FT1、第二滤波器参数FT2及第三滤波器参数FT3,但本公开不限于此。滤波器110对第一滤波器参数FT1及第三滤波器参数FT3进行内插计算,以取得第二滤波器参数FT2。第一滤波器参数FT1可为集中式参数数组,但本公开不限于此。当第一滤波器参数FT1为集中式参数数组时,其参数数组具有多个元素,其中心元素FT1_C具有最大参数值,其余元素的参数值可为零。第三滤波器参数FT3可为分布式参数数组,但本公开不限于此。当第三滤波器参数FT3为分布式参数数组时,其参数数组具有多个元素,其中心元素FT3_C具有最大参数值,其余元素的参数值可以中心元素为中心,依序向***递减。
图2示出本公开一实施例的光源驱动方法的步骤流程图。请参考图1A及图2,在步骤S200中,滤波器110接收像素信号S1。在步骤S210中,滤波器110分析像素信号S1,以计算出像素信号S1的评估值。举例而言,像素信号S1包括多个像素的像素数据(例如为灰阶值),滤波器110根据像素数据的最大值及像素数据的平均值计算出像素信号的评估值,但不限于此。
接着,在步骤S220中,滤波器110根据步骤S210中计算所得的像素信号S1的评估值,从多个滤波器参数FT1、FT2、FT3中选择一个滤波器参数。举例而言,在步骤S220中,当像素信号S1的评估值小于或等于第一阈值(first threshold value)时,滤波器110选择第一滤波器参数FT1;当像素信号S1的评估值大于第一阈值且小于第二阈值(second thresholdvalue)时,滤波器110选择第二滤波器参数FT2;当像素信号S1的灰阶值大于或等于第二阈值时,滤波器110选择第三滤波器参数FT3。在本实施例中,第一阈值可例如为100灰阶值,第二阈值可例如为200灰阶值。第一阈值小于第二阈值。上述阈值的灰阶值的设定仅用以例示说明,不用以限定本公开。
也就是说,当像素信号S1的多个像素的灰阶值为低灰阶时,滤波器110选择集中式参数数组(第一滤波器参数FT1);当像素信号S1的多个像素的灰阶值为高灰阶时,滤波器110选择分布式参数数组(第三滤波器参数FT3)。当像素信号S1的多个像素的灰阶值为介于低灰阶与高灰阶之间时,滤波器110选择由集中式参数数组及分布式参数数组经内插计算所得的参数数组(第二滤波器参数FT2)。
另一方面,在步骤S230中,光源驱动电路100根据像素信号S1计算出在光源模块200中要驱动的局部区域中各发光单元的权重值。接着,在步骤S240中,滤波器110根据步骤S210中所选择的滤波器参数及步骤S230所得的权重值对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以在步骤S250中,输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200。在步骤S240中,滤波器110对像素信号S1进行滤波计算例如是将所选择的滤波器参数和步骤S230输出的权重值进行卷积(convolution)运算,而得到驱动信号S2。驱动信号S2例如为脉冲宽度调制信号,因此,步骤S240的计算结果包括脉冲宽度调制信号的占空比(Duty Ratio)。在步骤S210到S240中,光源驱动电路100对光源模块200进行区域调光操作。
图3A示出本公开一实施例的光源模块的输出强度及其对应的滤波器参数的概要示意图。在图3A中,像素信号S1经滤波器110评估为具有低灰阶的像素信号,因此,滤波器110选择第一滤波器参数FT1作为滤波器参数,并且据此对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200以发光。光源模块200的局部区域310中各发光单元的发光强度可如图3A中所示。强度值0~50为经标准化的单位强度,但不限于此。从图3A可知,在低灰阶的像素信号S1输入时,光源驱动电路100驱动光源模块200,降低局部区域310产生光晕(Halo)现象的机率。
图3B示出本公开另一实施例的光源模块的输出强度及其对应的滤波器参数的概要示意图。在图3B中,像素信号S1经滤波器110评估为具有高灰阶的像素信号,因此,滤波器110选择第三滤波器参数FT2作为滤波器参数,并且据此对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200以发光。光源模块200的局部区域320中各发光单元的发光强度可如图3B中所示。强度值50~100为经标准化的单位强度,但不限于此。从图3B可知,在高灰阶的像素信号S1输入时,光源驱动电路100驱动光源模块200,其局部区域320具有足够的亮度输出给显示面板。
图4A示出本公开一实施例的图像画面、滤波器参数及光源模块的输出的概要示意图。请参考图1A及图4A,输入光源驱动电路100的像素信号S1包括图像画面410A,其中的像素456A例如设定为具有灰阶值64的像素,代表此时输入的像素信号S1为具有低灰阶的像素信号。因此,滤波器110选择第一滤波器参数FT1作为滤波器参数,并且据此对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200以发光。光源模块200的局部区域420A驱动显示面板显示的灰阶值如图4A中所示。从图4A可知,在低灰阶的像素信号S1输入时,光源驱动电路100驱动光源模块200,降低局部区域420A产生光晕现象的机率。
图4B示出本公开另一实施例的图像画面、滤波器参数及光源模块的输出的概要示意图。请参考图1A及图4B,输入光源驱动电路100的像素信号S1包括图像画面410B,其中的像素456B例如设定为具有灰阶值255的像素,代表此时输入的像素信号S1为具有高灰阶的像素信号。因此,滤波器110选择第三滤波器参数FT3作为滤波器参数,并且据此对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200以发光。光源模块200的局部区域420B驱动显示面板显示的灰阶值如图4B中所示。从图4B可知,在高灰阶的像素信号S1输入时,光源驱动电路100驱动光源模块200,其局部区域420B具有足够的亮度输出给显示面板。
图5示出本公开另一实施例的光源驱动方法的步骤流程图。请参考图1A及图5,在步骤S500中,光源驱动电路100内的滤波器110接收像素信号S1。在步骤S510中,滤波器110根据像素信号S1的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数FT1、FT2、FT3中选择一个滤波器参数。在步骤S520中,滤波器110根据所选择的滤波器参数对像素信号S1进行滤波计算,以使光源驱动电路100输出驱动信号S2来驱动光源模块200。
综上所述,在本公开的实施例中,光源驱动电路的滤波器针对像素信号在低灰阶时选择集中式参数数组,针对像素信号在高灰阶时选择分布式参数数组,针对像素信号介于低灰阶与高灰阶之间时选择经内插计算所得的参数数组,亦即在各灰阶采用不同的滤波器参数,可优化光源驱动电路的区域调光功能和/或提高显示面板的显示质量。
最后应说明的是:以上各实施例仅用以说明本发明的技术方案,而非对其限制;尽管参照前述各实施例对本发明进行了详细的说明,本领域的普通技术人员应当理解:其依然可以对前述各实施例所记载的技术方案进行修改,或者对其中部分或者全部技术特征进行等同替换;而这些修改或者替换,并不使相应技术方案的本质脱离本发明各实施例技术方案的范围。

Claims (10)

1.一种光源驱动电路,包括:
滤波器,用以接收像素信号,根据所述像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数,且所述滤波器根据所选择的所述滤波器参数对所述像素信号进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号来驱动光源模块,
其中所述多个滤波器参数包括第一滤波器参数、第二滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数,且所述第二滤波器参数是由滤波器对所述第一滤波器参数及所述第三滤波器参数进行内插计算而得。
2.根据权利要求1所述的光源驱动电路,其中当所述像素信号的灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值时,所述滤波器选择所述第一滤波器参数。
3.根据权利要求2所述的光源驱动电路,其中当所述像素信号的灰阶值大于所述第一阈值且小于第二阈值时,所述滤波器选择所述第二滤波器参数。
4.根据权利要求3所述的光源驱动电路,其中当所述像素信号的灰阶值大于或等于第二阈值时,所述滤波器选择所述第三滤波器参数。
5.根据权利要求1所述的光源驱动电路,其中所述像素信号包括多个像素的像素数据,所述滤波器根据所述像素数据的最大值及所述像素数据的平均值计算出所述像素信号的灰阶值。
6.一种光源驱动方法,用以驱动光源模块,所述光源驱动方法包括:
接收像素信号;
根据所述像素信号的灰阶值从多个滤波器参数中选择一个滤波器参数;以及
根据所选择的所述滤波器参数对所述像素信号进行滤波计算,以输出驱动信号来驱动所述光源模块,
其中所述多个滤波器参数包括第一滤波器参数、第二滤波器参数及第三滤波器参数,且所述第二滤波器参数是由所述第一滤波器参数及所述第三滤波器参数进行内插计算而得。
7.根据权利要求6所述的光源驱动方法,其中根据所述像素信号的灰阶值从所述多个滤波器参数中选择所述一个滤波器参数的步骤包括:
当所述像素信号的灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值时,选择所述第一滤波器参数。
8.根据权利要求7所述的光源驱动方法,其中根据所述像素信号的灰阶值从所述多个滤波器参数中选择所述一个滤波器参数的步骤包括:
当所述像素信号的灰阶值大于所述第一阈值且小于第二阈值时,选择所述第二滤波器参数,其中所述第一阈值小于所述第二阈值。
9.根据权利要求8所述的光源驱动方法,其中根据所述像素信号的灰阶值从所述多个滤波器中参数选择所述一个滤波器参数的步骤包括:
当所述像素信号的灰阶值大于或等于第二阈值时,选择所述第三滤波器参数。
10.根据权利要求6所述的光源驱动方法,其中所述像素信号包括多个像素的像素数据,且所述光源驱动方法还包括:
根据所述像素数据的最大值及所述像素数据的平均值计算出所述像素信号的灰阶值。
