Abstract
一種光源驅動電路及光源驅動方法。光源驅動電路包括濾波器。濾波器用以接收像素信號。濾波器根據像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數。濾波器根據所選擇的濾波器參數對像素信號進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號來驅動光源模組。多個濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數、第二濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數。第二濾波器參數是由濾波器對第一濾波器參數及第二濾波器參數進行內插計算而得。
Description
本發明是有關於一種驅動電路及驅動方法,且特別是有關於一種具有區域調光(local dimming)功能的光源驅動電路及光源驅動方法。
在目前的多區域調光顯示裝置中,光暈現象一直是造成圖像品質(Picture Quality,PQ)不佳的原因之一。在顯示裝置顯示中低灰階時,光暈現象會特別的明顯。具體而言,在中低灰階時,具有多區域調光功能的顯示裝置容易因為空間濾波器的設計以及背光區域的多寡,而造成圖像的邊緣出現光暈,導致人眼感受到的視覺品質下降。在現有的多區域調光顯示裝置中,其空間濾波器的設計都是使用一種濾波器參數給圖像的全部像素信號,而不論其所具有的灰階值的高低。因此,現有的多區域調光顯示裝置可能會有低灰階不易有光暈,但高灰階亮度不足的現象,或者低灰階易有光暈,高灰階亮度有待提升的現象。
本公開提供一種光源驅動電路及光源驅動方法,其濾波器在各灰階採用不同的濾波器參數,可優化光源驅動電路的區域調光功能,提高顯示面板的顯示品質。
本公開的光源驅動電路包括濾波器。濾波器用以接收像素信號。濾波器根據像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數。濾波器根據所選擇的濾波器參數對像素信號進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號來驅動光源模組。多個濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數、第二濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數。第二濾波器參數是由濾波器對第一濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數進行內插計算而得。
在本公開的實施例中,當像素信號的灰階值小於或等於第一閾值時,濾波器選擇第一濾波器參數。
在本公開的實施例中,當像素信號的灰階值大於第一閾值且小於第二閾值時,濾波器選擇第二濾波器參數。
在本公開的實施例中,當像素信號的灰階值大於或等於第二閾值時,濾波器選擇第三濾波器參數。
在本公開的實施例中,上述的像素信號包括多個像素的像素資料,濾波器根據像素資料的最大值及像素資料的平均值計算出像素信號的灰階值。
本公開的光源驅動方法用於驅動光源模組。光源驅動方法包括:接收像素信號;根據像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參
數中選擇一個濾波器參數;以及根據所選擇的濾波器參數對像素信號進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號來驅動光源模組。多個濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數、第二濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數。第二濾波器參數是由第一濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數進行內插計算而得。
在本公開的實施例中,根據像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數的步驟包括:當像素信號的灰階值小於或等於第一閾值時,選擇第一濾波器參數。
在本公開的實施例中,根據像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數的步驟包括:當像素信號的灰階值大於第一閾值且小於第二閾值時,選擇第二濾波器參數。

圖1A繪示本公開一實施例的顯示裝置的光源驅動電路的方塊示意圖。圖1B繪示圖1A實施例的濾波器參數的概要示意圖。請參考圖1A及圖1B,光源驅動電路100包括濾波器110。濾波器110用以接收像素信號S1。濾波器110根據像素信號S1的灰階值從多個濾波器參數FT1、FT2、FT3中選擇一個濾波器參數。接著,濾波器110根據所選擇的濾波器參數對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200。在一實施例中,驅動信號S2例如為脈衝寬度調製(Pulse Width Modulation,PWM)信號,用來驅動光源模組200的發光單元。
在本實施例中,光源驅動電路100具有區域調光(local
dimming)功能,可用來驅動光源模組200的局部區域發光。光源模組200可作為顯示面板(未繪示)的光源,可提供光源給顯示面板。例如,顯示面板可為液晶顯示面板,光源模組200可作為顯示面板的背光源,且顯示裝置可為液晶顯示裝置,惟本公開對顯示裝置的種類不加以限制。光源模組200的發光單元可包括發光二極體晶片或發光二極體封裝。舉例而言,光源模組200可以是一或多個串聯或並聯的發光二極體,或者一或多個串聯或並聯的發光二極體串。發光二極體可如前述,於此不再重述。
在本實施例中,濾波器110可以是通過硬體描述語言(Hardware Description Language,HDL)或是其他任意本領域技術人員所熟知的數位電路的設計方式來進行設計,並通過現場可程式邏輯門陣列(Field Programmable Gate Array,FPGA)、複雜可程式邏輯裝置(Complex Programmable Logic Device,CPLD)或是特殊應用積體電路(Application-specific Integrated Circuit,ASIC)的方式來實現的硬體電路。或者,在一實施例中,濾波器110可以為具運算能力的處理器。
在本實施例中,濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數FT1、第二濾波器參數FT2及第三濾波器參數FT3,但本公開不限於此。濾波器110對第一濾波器參數FT1及第三濾波器參數FT3進行內插計算,以取得第二濾波器參數FT2。第一濾波器參數FT1可為集中式參數陣列,但本公開不限於此。當第一濾波器參數FT1為集中式參數陣列時,其參數陣列具有多個元素,其中心元素FT1_C
具有最大參數值,其餘元素的參數值可為零。第三濾波器參數FT3可為分散式參數陣列,但本公開不限於此。當第三濾波器參數FT3為分散式參數陣列時,其參數陣列具有多個元素,其中心元素FT3_C具有最大參數值,其餘元素的參數值可以中心元素為中心,依序向週邊遞減。
圖2繪示本公開一實施例的光源驅動方法的步驟流程圖。請參考圖1A及圖2,在步驟S200中,濾波器110接收像素信號S1。在步驟S210中,濾波器110分析像素信號S1,以計算出像素信號S1的評估值。舉例而言,像素信號S1包括多個像素的像素資料(例如為灰階值),濾波器110根據像素資料的最大值及像素資料的平均值計算出像素信號的評估值,但不限於此。
接著,在步驟S220中,濾波器110根據步驟S210中計算所得的像素信號S1的評估值,從多個濾波器參數FT1、FT2、FT3中選擇一個濾波器參數。舉例而言,在步驟S220中,當像素信號S1的評估值小於或等於第一閾值(first threshold value)時,濾波器110選擇第一濾波器參數FT1;當像素信號S1的評估值大於第一閾值且小於第二閾值(second threshold value)時,濾波器110選擇第二濾波器參數FT2;當像素信號S1的灰階值大於或等於第二閾值時,濾波器110選擇第三濾波器參數FT3。在本實施例中,第一閾值可例如為100灰階值,第二閾值可例如為200灰階值。第一閾值小於第二閾值。上述閾值的灰階值的設定僅用以例示說明,不用以限定本公開。
也就是說,當像素信號S1的多個像素的灰階值為低灰階時,濾波器110選擇集中式參數陣列(第一濾波器參數FT1);當像素信號S1的多個像素的灰階值為高灰階時,濾波器110選擇分散式參數陣列(第三濾波器參數FT3)。當像素信號S1的多個像素的灰階值為介於低灰階與高灰階之間時,濾波器110選擇由集中式參數陣列及分散式參數陣列經內插計算所得的參數陣列(第二濾波器參數FT2)。
另一方面,在步驟S230中,光源驅動電路100根據像素信號S1計算出在光源模組200中要驅動的局部區域中各發光單元的權重值。接著,在步驟S240中,濾波器110根據步驟S220中所選擇的濾波器參數及步驟S230所得的權重值對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以在步驟S250中,輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200。在步驟S240中,濾波器110對像素信號S1進行濾波計算例如是將所選擇的濾波器參數和步驟S230輸出的權重值進行卷積(convolution)運算,而得到驅動信號S2。驅動信號S2例如為脈衝寬度調製信號,因此,步驟S240的計算結果包括脈衝寬度調製信號的占空比(Duty Ratio)。在步驟S210到S240中,光源驅動電路100對光源模組200進行區域調光操作。
圖3A繪示本公開一實施例的光源模組的輸出強度及其對應的濾波器參數的概要示意圖。在圖3A中,像素信號S1經濾波器110評估為具有低灰階的像素信號,因此,濾波器110選擇第一濾波器參數FT1作為濾波器參數,並且據此對像素信號S1進
行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200以發光。光源模組200的局部區域310中各發光單元的發光強度可如圖3A中所示。強度值0~50為經標準化的單位強度,但不限於此。從圖3A可知,在低灰階的像素信號S1輸入時,光源驅動電路100驅動光源模組200,降低局部區域310產生光暈(Halo)現象的機率。
圖3B繪示本公開另一實施例的光源模組的輸出強度及其對應的濾波器參數的概要示意圖。在圖3B中,像素信號S1經濾波器110評估為具有高灰階的像素信號,因此,濾波器110選擇第三濾波器參數FT3作為濾波器參數,並且據此對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200以發光。光源模組200的局部區域320中各發光單元的發光強度可如圖3B中所示。強度值50~100為經標準化的單位強度,但不限於此。從圖3B可知,在高灰階的像素信號S1輸入時,光源驅動電路100驅動光源模組200,其局部區域320具有足夠的亮度輸出給顯示面板。
圖4A繪示本公開一實施例的圖像畫面、濾波器參數及光源模組的輸出的概要示意圖。請參考圖1A及圖4A,輸入光源驅動電路100的像素信號S1包括圖像畫面410A,其中的像素456A例如設定為具有灰階值64的像素,代表此時輸入的像素信號S1為具有低灰階的像素信號。因此,濾波器110選擇第一濾波器參數FT1作為濾波器參數,並且據此對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200以發光。光源模組200的
局部區域420A驅動顯示面板顯示的灰階值如圖4A中所示。從圖4A可知,在低灰階的像素信號S1輸入時,光源驅動電路100驅動光源模組200,降低局部區域420A產生光暈現象的機率。
圖4B繪示本公開另一實施例的圖像畫面、濾波器參數及光源模組的輸出的概要示意圖。請參考圖1A及圖4B,輸入光源驅動電路100的像素信號S1包括圖像畫面410B,其中的像素456B例如設定為具有灰階值255的像素,代表此時輸入的像素信號S1為具有高灰階的像素信號。因此,濾波器110選擇第三濾波器參數FT3作為濾波器參數,並且據此對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200以發光。光源模組200的局部區域420B驅動顯示面板顯示的灰階值如圖4B中所示。從圖4B可知,在高灰階的像素信號S1輸入時,光源驅動電路100驅動光源模組200,其局部區域420B具有足夠的亮度輸出給顯示面板。
圖5繪示本公開另一實施例的光源驅動方法的步驟流程圖。請參考圖1A及圖5,在步驟S500中,光源驅動電路100內的濾波器110接收像素信號S1。在步驟S510中,濾波器110根據像素信號S1的灰階值從多個濾波器參數FT1、FT2、FT3中選擇一個濾波器參數。在步驟S520中,濾波器110根據所選擇的濾波器參數對像素信號S1進行濾波計算,以使光源驅動電路100輸出驅動信號S2來驅動光源模組200。
綜上所述,在本公開的實施例中,光源驅動電路的濾波
器針對像素信號在低灰階時選擇集中式參數陣列,針對像素信號在高灰階時選擇分散式參數陣列,針對像素信號介於低灰階與高灰階之間時選擇經內插計算所得的參數陣列,亦即在各灰階採用不同的濾波器參數,可優化光源驅動電路的區域調光功能和/或提高顯示面板的顯示品質。
雖然本發明已以實施例揭露如上,然其並非用以限定本發明,任何所屬技術領域中具有通常知識者,在不脫離本發明的精神和範圍內,當可作些許的更動與潤飾,故本發明的保護範圍當視後附的申請專利範圍所界定者為準。

Claims (10)
- 一種光源驅動電路,包括:濾波器,用以接收像素信號,根據所述像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數,且所述濾波器根據所選擇的所述濾波器參數對所述像素信號進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號來驅動光源模組,其中所述多個濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數、第二濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數,且所述第二濾波器參數是由所述濾波器對所述第一濾波器參數及所述第三濾波器參數進行內插計算而得。
- 如請求項1所述的光源驅動電路,其中當所述像素信號的灰階值小於或等於第一閾值時,所述濾波器選擇所述第一濾波器參數。
- 如請求項2所述的光源驅動電路,其中當所述像素信號的灰階值大於所述第一閾值且小於第二閾值時,所述濾波器選擇所述第二濾波器參數,其中所述第一閾值小於所述第二閾值。
- 如請求項3所述的光源驅動電路,其中當所述像素信號的灰階值大於或等於所述第二閾值時,所述濾波器選擇所述第三濾波器參數。
- 如請求項1所述的光源驅動電路,其中所述像素信號包括多個像素的像素資料,所述濾波器根據所述像素資料的最大值及所述像素資料的平均值計算出所述像素信號的灰階值。
- 一種光源驅動方法,用以驅動光源模組,所述光源驅動方法包括:接收像素信號;根據所述像素信號的灰階值從多個濾波器參數中選擇一個濾波器參數;以及根據所選擇的所述濾波器參數對所述像素信號進行濾波計算,以輸出驅動信號來驅動所述光源模組,其中所述多個濾波器參數包括第一濾波器參數、第二濾波器參數及第三濾波器參數,且所述第二濾波器參數是由所述第一濾波器參數及所述第三濾波器參數進行內插計算而得。
- 如請求項6所述的光源驅動方法,其中根據所述像素信號的灰階值從所述多個濾波器參數中選擇所述一個濾波器參數的步驟包括:當所述像素信號的灰階值小於或等於第一閾值時,選擇所述第一濾波器參數。
- 如請求項7所述的光源驅動方法,其中根據所述像素信號的灰階值從所述多個濾波器參數中選擇所述一個濾波器參數的步驟包括:當所述像素信號的灰階值大於所述第一閾值且小於第二閾值時,選擇所述第二濾波器參數,其中所述第一閾值小於所述第二閾值。
- 如請求項8所述的光源驅動方法,其中根據所述像素信號的灰階值從所述多個濾波器中參數選擇所述一個濾波器參數的步驟包括:當所述像素信號的灰階值大於或等於所述第二閾值時,選擇所述第三濾波器參數。
- 如請求項6所述的光源驅動方法,其中所述像素信號包括多個像素的像素資料,且所述光源驅動方法還包括:根據所述像素資料的最大值及所述像素資料的平均值計算出所述像素信號的灰階值。
