神经衰弱是指由于长期处于紧张和压力下，出现精神易兴奋和脑力易疲乏现象，常伴有情绪烦恼、易激惹、睡眠障碍、肌肉紧张性疼痛等，这些症状不能归于脑、躯体疾病及其他精神疾病，症状时轻时重，波动与心理社会因素有关，病程多迁延。中医认为七情，即：喜、怒、忧、思、悲、恐、惊等情感会诱发疾病。由于忧思郁怒,肝失条达,气机不畅而致肝气郁结。张仲景在《金匮要略》中指出:“见肝之病,知肝传脾气。”起因由情志所伤，肝气郁滞，故见胸闷，两胁胀痛。肝气犯脾，脾失健运，故不欲饮食。脾虚生化之源不足，故体倦乏力，面色萎黄。脾虚心失所养，故心悸健忘，多梦易醒。心伤则阴血不足，阴不敛阳，故失眠。治疗当以疏肝解郁，补养心脾，宁志安神为主运用夜寐舒神剂整体调整，可见奇效。此病多发于青壮年，16--40岁之间多发，两性无差别，以脑力劳动者，青年学生多见。

本发明提供的治疗神经衰弱的中药配方进行辨证配伍组方，组份中的各种原料药物相互协调在一起，能够起到最大程度的发挥药效，具有滋阴降火、补益精血、疏肝解郁的作用，从而达到治疗的目的；且具有配方简单、药源丰富、价格低廉、无任何毒副作用和药物依赖性的优点。
本发明组合物进行了大量的动物急性毒性试验、动物长期毒性试验以及治疗疾病的大量临床试验，对该药投入治疗疾病的使用环节提供了科学而客观的依据。其试验结果如下：
（1）对本发明制备的汤剂进行动物急性毒性试验，取小白鼠20只，雌雄兼备，体重40—60g，饥饿15—20小时，每只每天分3次灌喂20—25ml，连续灌喂一周，观察14天，小白鼠活动正常，无毒性反应，无死亡；表明口服液无急性毒性，临床用药剂量安全。
（2）对本发明制备的汤剂进行动物长期毒性试验，取大白鼠30只，雌雄兼备，体重120—150g，分成两组，每组15只，其中第一组作为给药组，按每只每天2次灌喂，每次5—10ml，第二组正常喂食作为对照组，每日一次，连续灌喂100天，测体重，于最后一次给药24小时断头处死，测血、尿常规、肝功能、肾功能，取心、肾等内脏，观察组织形态的变化，观察剂量的作用，观察饮食、活动的变化，实验证明给药组与对照组比较无明显变化，均无毒性反应，是一种安全的药物。

1.治疗神经衰弱的中药配方，其特征是，由下列重量份数的中药原料制作而成：远志30--40份、百部10--20份、枸骨叶10--20份、灵芝10--20份、柏子仁30--40份、蝉蜕5--10份、木香5--10份、枇杷叶15--25份、天麻15--25份、黑豆15--25份、天冬30--40份、菟丝子10--20份、鸡内金10--20份、橘核10--20份、鸡血藤20--30份、夏枯草10--20份、天南星10--20份、知母20--30份、合欢皮20--30份、核桃仁30--40份、黄芪15--25份、刺五加15--25份、鱼腥草15--25份。
