技术领域
本发明涉及有机发光显示领域,具体涉及一种像素电路、显示面板及其驱动方法。
背景技术
现有AMOLED(ActiveMatrix/OrganicLightEmittingDiode,有源矩阵有机发光二极管)显示中存在两种驱动类型:模拟驱动(AnalogDriving)和脉宽调制(PlusWidthModulation,PWM)。
其中,在采用模拟驱动的AMOLED像素电路中,流经像素OLED的电流按显示灰度等级控制,其由于不经常工作于最大电流,因此有利于OLED器件寿命延长。但在该类型下,通常驱动器件(如TFT,Thin-FilmTransistor,薄膜晶体管)需要承受较大的电压调制分压,产生无效功耗,因此效率较低。另外,精确的电流控制需求通常会导致相关像素电路的复杂化。
相比而言,采用脉宽调制驱动的AMOLED像素电路中,TFT工作在线性区,压降很小,因此无效功耗低,更符合现有显示设备低功耗的使用需求。
但是,脉宽调制驱动通常存在信号刷新和驱动动作频率远高于显示帧频的情况,造成电路实现困难。而且,由于像素OLED仅有工作于最大电流的“通”和零电流的“断”两个状态,像素OLED开启期间工作电流大,容易导致像素OLED的使用寿命降低。
发明内容
(一)解决的技术问题
针对现有技术的不足,本发明提供一种像素电路、显示面板及其驱动方法,其实现了像素数据刷新频率与帧频相同的脉宽调制驱动,并且解决了像素中发光器件的工作电流大、使用寿命低的问题,同时具有功耗低、结构简单、易于实现的特点。
(二)技术方案
为实现以上目的,本发明通过以下技术方案予以实现:
一种像素电路,其特征在于,所述像素电路包括充电模块、发光器件和电容,
所述充电模块与所述电容的第一端相连,用于在扫描信号的控制下利用数据信号电压向所述电容充电;
所述发光器件的第一端与所述电容的第一端相连,所述发光器件的第二端连接低电平电压线,用于根据从所述发光器件的第一端流入的电流发光;
所述电容的第二端连接参考电压线;
每一帧周期内,所述参考电压线在利用所述数据信号电压向所述电容充电时输出第一电压,所述充电完成之后输出自第二电压向第三电压逐渐升高的电压信号至该帧周期结束;所述第一电压小于所述第二电压,所述第二电压小于所述第三电压;

本发明至少具有如下的有益效果:
本发明主要利用电容的充放电过程,以电容一端所接参考电压线上的电压变化使得发光元件从帧周期内一时刻开始持续发光至该帧周期结束,而这一时刻在该帧周期内的位置根据数据信号电压确定。也就是说,像素电路可以根据数据信号电压的大小来确定每一帧周期内其中发光器件的发光时间长短,即实现了像素电路对于亮度的脉宽调制驱动。同时,此时像素电路不需要高频率的数据刷新,数据刷新的频率是与帧频相同的,因而发光器件不会出现开启电压过大而瞬间电流过大的情况,也就是解决了像素发光器件的工作电流大、使用寿命低的问题。
而且,相比于模拟驱动方式,本发明所实现的脉宽调制驱动不产生较多无效功耗、效率较高;且不需要添加用于精确控制电流的模块或电路,结构较为简单;另外其所用元件较少、不添加过多控制信号线、不改变像素电路的基本电路结构,因而易于实现。
当然,实施本发明的任一产品或方法并不一定需要同时达到以上所述的所有优点。

为使本发明实施例的目的、技术方案和优点更加清楚,下面将结合本发明实施例中的附图,对本发明实施例中的技术方案进行清楚、完整地描述,显然,所描述的实施例是本发明一部分实施例,而不是全部的实施例。基于本发明中的实施例,本领域普通技术人员在没有作出创造性劳动前提下所获得的所有其他实施例,都属于本发明保护的范围。
实施例1
本发明实施例提供了一种像素电路,参见图1,所述像素电路包括充电模块、发光器件和电容,所述充电模块与所述电容的第一端相连,用于在扫描信号的控制下利用数据信号电压向所述电容充电;所述发光器件的第一端与所述电容的第一端相连,所述发光器件的第二端连接低电平电压线,用于根据从所述发光器件的第一端流入的电流发光;所述电容的第二端连接参考电压线;
每一帧周期内,所述参考电压线在利用所述数据信号电压向所述电容充电时输出第一电压,所述充电完成之后输出自第二电压向第三电压逐渐升高的电压信号至该帧周期结束;所述第一电压小于所述第二电压,所述第二电压小于所述第三电压;所述参考电压线用于使所述发光器件在所述电压信号逐渐升高过程中的一时刻开始持续发光至该帧周期结束,该时刻由所述数据信号电压的电压值确定。
其中,图1以一个二极管的符号代表所述发光器件,其阳极对应所述发光器件的第一端、其阴极对应所述发光器件的第二端;图中电容的上端对应第一端、下端对应第二端。
大体来说,该像素电路在每一帧周期内分为数据信号电压写入阶段和电容放电阶段。在数据信号写入阶段,参考电压线向电容第二端输出第一电压,充电模块利用数据信号电压向所述电容充电,即使电容第一端为数据信号电压,另一端为第一电压,从而电容被充电(累积电荷与数据信号电压有关,即完成其写入过程)。可见,第一电压的电压值设定需要使充电过程中发光器件的第一端电压与所述低电平电压线上的电压之差小于发光器件显著发光时所需要的最小工作电压,亦即第一电压的电压值足够小。这样一来,充电过程中要使发光器件上没有大电流通过,不会使发光器件意外发光或对其使用寿命造成不良影响。
在数据信号电压写入完成后进入电容放电阶段,此时充电模块不再向电容第一端提供电压,电容在第二端接参考电压线的情况下向发光器件放电(因为发光器件第二端接低电平电压,累积在电容极板上的电荷会自发地向这一低电平位置流动,即产生了从发光器件第一端流入的电流)。此时,参考电压线向电容第二端输出自第二电压向第三电压逐渐升高的电压信号,即逐渐升高发光元件第一端的电位。当然,由于发光器件一般都存在开启电压(即两端电压高于开启电压时电流才能通过并使其发光),所以可能会存在有发光元件第一端的电位升高到某一位置时才开始发光的情况。然而,由于电容经过数据信号电压写入,因而发光元件第一端存在一个由数据信号电压决定的初始值(当然其也与电容值有关),所以发光器件在参考电压线上的电压信号升高过程中的哪一点处开始发光是由数据信号电压决定的。
从而,数据电压信号的电压值可以调制发光器件在每一帧周期内的发光时间(自开始发光的时刻至帧结束),其类似于方波信号的占空比调制,也就是实现了像素电路的脉宽调制驱动。
其中,脉宽调制技术具体指把一个画面帧周期(FramePeriod)分为多个子帧(Sub-Frame),通过每个子帧内驱动像素中发光器件的启闭,叠加后控制一个画面帧周期内驱动脉冲开启总宽度(PlusWidth),从而实现灰度控制(即离散地进行“0-1”数字输出,而在刷新频率足够高时能产生与模拟输出类似的效果)。
可见,若将其直接应用于像素电路驱动中时需要使数据控制信号刷新及驱动动作频率远高于显示帧频,在电路的实现上存在很多困难。而本发明以与帧频相同的像素数据刷新频率,可以实现数据信号电压对每一帧周期内发光时间(信号占空比)的调制,因此发光器件不会出现开启电压过大而瞬间电流过大的情况,也就是解决了像素发光器件的工作电流大、使用寿命低的问题。
而且,相比于模拟驱动方式,本发明所实现的脉宽调制驱动不产生较多无效功耗、效率较高;且不需要添加用于精确控制电流的模块或电路,结构较为简单;另外其所用元件较少、不添加过多控制信号线、不改变像素电路的基本电路结构,因而易于实现。
为了更清楚地说明本实施例的技术方案,下面展示一种更具体的优选像素电路,参见图2:
优选地,所述充电模块包括第一开关元件M1,所述第一开关元件M1的第一端连接所述数据信号电压Dataline,所述第一开关元件M1的控制端连接所述扫描信号Scanline,所述第一开关元件M1的第二端与所述发光器件OLED的第一端、所述电容Cst的第一端相连。也就是说,在控制端连接信号的控制下,充电模块可以实现数据信号电压Dataline与发光器件OLED的第一端的连接或断开,因而可以实现对电容Cst的充电。优选地,所述发光器件为有机发光二极管OLED。
此时,该电路对应的工作时序图如图3所示,其具体过程如下:
帧周期、数据信号电压写入阶段开始时刻tini时,把完成上一帧OLED驱动放电的电荷存储电容Cst的参考电压线上的电位(Cstref.)初始化到充分低的第一电压Vini,然后由扫描信号线选通充电M1,使数据线上(亮度或灰阶)数据信号电压通过M1对Cst充电。Vini充分低的要求是,确保充电过程完成中节点N1的电位VN1与OLED阴极的电位Vss之差不会(因寄生效应)高于OLED显著正常发光所需的工作电压Vop,即VN1-Vss<Vop。因此充电过程中像素OLED没有过大电流通过,不会对OLED寿命造成损伤。
数据信号电压写入阶段结束时刻、电容放电阶段开始时刻t0时,充电完成后,控制电荷存储电容Cst参考电位(Cstref.)跳变至第二电压V0,使得在该电位下,按最高亮度信号充电的Cst开始以适当的放电驱动电流Idscjr对像素OLED放电。随后,参考电位不断提高,维持Cst对像素OLED适当的放电驱动电流,直至帧周期结束(tfp时点)。帧周期结束时,Cst参考电位端电位也达到最高的第三电压Vt,放电结束。
对于按较小亮度数据电压充电的Cst,在电容参考端电位从V0开始上升时,由于N1点电位仍然较低,像素OLED不能显著发光,直至因参考电压线上的电位上升,节点N1与OLED阴极间电位差(VN1-Vss)高于Vop时(t1时点),像素OLED开始以适当电流发光至帧周期结束。
因为帧周期内发光时间差异,显示亮度不同,实现灰度显示;而发光时刻t1位于t0至tfp间的哪一点由数据信号电压写入Cst的电荷量决定,而电荷量由数据信号电压的电压值和电容Cst的电容值决定。图4(a)和图4(b)是该电路下通过脉宽调制实现灰度等级控制的示意图,分别展示对应最大亮度和最低亮度的数据信号电压写入后的OLED上流经电流的变化。
图4(a)中假设以对应最大亮度的数据信号电压完成充电的情形,设此时N1节点处电位VN1=Vmax;Vmax满足:
Vmax=Vop+Vss-(V0-Vini)
则当Vini跳变至电位V0时,节点N1电位VN1达到Vop+Vss,电荷存储电容Cst开始以电流Idschr放电、OLED发光。Idschr的大小由Cst容量和Vref变动速度决定。但为维持正常的发光亮度,Idschr还需要满足像素OLEDI-V特性的要求,即在工作电压Vop下一定的电流Ioled

根据上式,可以设定Cst合适的电容量和电容基准电压变动范围(Vt-V0)。
图4(b)中假设以对应最大亮度的数据信号电压完成充电的情形,设此时N1节点处电位VN1=Vmin;Vmin满足:
Vmin=Vop+Vss-(Vt-Vini)
当充电完成时,节点N1电位低于Vmin时,整个帧周期内节点N1与OLED阴极电位差均不能高于像素OLED正常工作电压Vop,由于始终没有足够大的电流流过,像素OLED不发光,显示呈黑像素。
介于两者之间的情况,当充电完成后节点N1电位小于Vmax而大于Vmin时,则像素OLED上电位达到Vop的时间要晚于t0而早于tfp。由于帧周期内像素OLED发光时间变短,视觉亮度会小于最高亮度,实现灰度显示(或者仅在帧周期结束时刻瞬间发光,其同样可以视作不发光)。
当然,上述优选的像素电路仅是一种实施例,本领域技术人员可以根据实际应用情况做出如采用其他种类发光器件、替换充电模块内部构造、参照上例设定各处的电压值等等同等替换,其显然不脱离本发明实施例技术方案的精神和范围。
另外,优选地,所述像素电路还包括逆向电流防止模块,用于在利用所述数据信号电压向所述电容充电时断开所述发光器件的第二端与所述低电平电压线的连接。考虑到发光器件可能存在逆向导通时电流过大导致损坏的情形,为防止在电容Cst被充电时由于节点N1电位降低造成发光器件处产生逆向电流而造成发光器件的损坏、非正常发光或影响数据信号充电精度等情况,可以按需要设置逆向电流防止电路,在上述数据信号电压写入阶段中断开所述发光器件的第二端与所述低电平电压线的连接。
其优选的实施方式之一参见图5,所述逆向电流防止模块即为以虚线框标注的部分。此时所述逆向电流防止模块包括第二开关元件M2,所述第二开关元件M2的第一端与所述发光器件OLED的第二端相连,所述第二开关元件M2的第二端连接低电平电压线VSS。也就是说,通过一个开关元件隔开发光器件OLED的第二端和低电平电压线VSS的连接,并利用开关元件实现对其连接或断开的控制。
优选地,任一所述开关元件为n沟道型薄膜晶体管或p沟道型薄膜晶体管。通过薄膜晶体管TFT实现上述开关元件的功能,可以与现有像素电路的形成工艺相适应,并具有薄膜晶体管自身多方面的优点。附图中仅以p沟道型薄膜晶体管为例,开关元件的第一端对应TFT的源极、控制端对应TFT的栅极、第二端对应TFT的漏极。当然,由于使n沟道型薄膜晶体管或p沟道型薄膜晶体管处于开启状态的电平高低不同,所以在做同等替换时需要将栅极信号的电平高低互换,即对时序驱动信号的极性做相应调整。
优选地,所述第一开关元件为p沟道型薄膜晶体管,所述第二开关元件为n沟道型薄膜晶体管,或者,所述第一开关元件为n沟道型薄膜晶体管,所述第二开关元件为p沟道型薄膜晶体管;所述第二开关元件的控制端连接所述扫描信号。在这种情况下,可以用同一条扫描信号线实现对两个开关元件的控制,可以简化实现电路。
同理,可以使所述第一开关元件和所述第二开关元件同为n沟道型薄膜晶体管或p沟道型薄膜晶体管;所述第二开关元件的控制端连接所述扫描信号的反相信号。这样的情况下,直接取扫描信号的反相信号来控制M2,同样可以实现电路的简化。
以上两种优选方式均是考虑到了M1和M2的开关状态相反,可以采用CMOS电路中共享时序驱动信号的实施方式,其中一种实施方式的电路示例参见图6。
另外,也可以采用如图7所示的逆向电流防止模块,对于LTPS(LowTemperaturePoly-silicon,低温多晶硅)技术,基本工艺下通常形成增强型p沟道型MOSFET(Metal-Oxide-SemiconductorField-EffectTransistor,金属-氧化层半导体场效晶体管)作为这里的逆向电流防止模块,主要是TFT在栅源电压为0V时处于截止状态的这一特性。图7所示电路中,当OLED的第二端在第一时刻瞬间tini处于低于Vss的低电平电位时,M2与Vss相连的一端为源极,此时M2的栅源电压等于0V,TFT截止,可以防止逆向电流的产生,对OLED起保护作用。但当OLED的第二端电位随Cstref.line电位升高而升高,并显著高于Vss时,则M2与OLED相连的一端为源极,且此时栅源电压小于0V,则M2进入导通状态,可以使OLED的驱动电流通过。
实施例2
基于同样的发明构思,本发明实施例一种显示面板,其包括阵列基板和/或彩膜基板,所述阵列基板和/或彩膜基板上的像素单元采用如实施例1中所述的一种像素电路。该显示设备可以为:AMOLED面板、手机、平板电脑、电视机、显示器、笔记本电脑、数码相框、导航仪等任何具有显示功能的产品或部件。
由于本发明实施例提供的透明显示装置与实施例1所提供的任意一种像素电路具有相同的技术特征,所以也能解决同样的技术问题,产生相同的技术效果。
实施例3
对于实施例2所述的显示面板,这里对应地提出一种显示面板的驱动方法,参见图8,该显示面板的每一像素的帧周期(Frameperiod)内包括从前至后的第一时刻tini、第二时刻t0和第三时刻tfp,每一帧周期的所述第三时刻tfp与下一帧周期的所述第一时刻tini重合;该驱动方法包括:

1.一种像素电路,其特征在于,所述像素电路包括充电模块、发光器件和电容,
所述充电模块与所述电容的第一端相连,用于在扫描信号的控制下利用数据信号电压向所述电容充电;
所述发光器件的第一端与所述电容的第一端相连,所述发光器件的第二端连接低电平电压线,用于根据从所述发光器件的第一端流入的电流发光;
所述电容的第二端连接参考电压线;
每一帧周期内,所述参考电压线在利用所述数据信号电压向所述电容充电时输出第一电压,所述充电完成之后输出自第二电压向第三电压逐渐升高的电压信号至该帧周期结束;所述第一电压小于所述第二电压,所述第二电压小于所述第三电压;
所述参考电压线用于使所述发光器件在所述电压信号逐渐升高过程中的一时刻开始持续发光至该帧周期结束,该时刻由所述数据信号电压的电压值确定。
