Abstract
本发明涉及一种电子纸显示装置,其包括基板、显示层和保护层。显示层设置于基板上。保护层设置于显示层上,在保护层的面对显示层的底面设有多个彩色滤光图案。本发明电子纸显示装置因不需要在保护层上另外黏贴彩色滤光片,所以可以降低生产成本及厚度。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种显示装置,尤其涉及一种电子纸显示装置。
背景技术
随着信息时代的来临,显示装置已经成为现代人不可或缺的电子产品之一。显示装置由最初的阴极射线管(Cathode Ray Tube,CRT)显示装置发展至现今更轻薄的液晶显示装置(Liquid Crystal Display,LCD),而广泛应用于通讯、信息以及消费性电子产品上。然而,液晶显示装置需持续提供电力以供操作,并且需要背光模块,而且无法在光线较强的地方阅读,由此业界开发出了更省电的电子纸显示装置。
目前常见的电子纸显示装置的显示画面以黑白画面为主。若要使电子纸显示装置能够显示彩色画面,则需要在原有的黑白电子纸显示装置上再加贴彩色滤光片。但是,由于彩色滤光片包括了玻璃基板及形成于玻璃基板上的彩色光阻,所以当外贴彩色滤光片后,玻璃基板会影响到显示装置的光学特性,并使电泳显示装置的厚度变厚。而且,在制程上需要再增加额外的贴合机台装置以及材料评估等成本。
因此,如何提供一种具有全彩显示效果,且简化制作步骤以及降低制作成本的电泳显示装置,实为现今的重要课题之一。
发明内容
本发明的目的就是在于提供一种电子纸显示装置,其具有生产成本较低且厚度较薄的优点。
为达到上述优点,本发明提出一种电子纸显示装置,其包括基板、显示层和保护层。显示层设置于基板上,保护层设置于显示层上,且在保护层的面对显示层的底面设有多个彩色滤光图案。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的多个彩色滤光图案包括具有多种颜色的多个彩色光阻。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的电子纸显示装置,在保护层的底面还设有黑色矩阵,以分隔多个彩色滤光图案。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的电子纸显示装置还包括封胶,所述封胶设置于基板与保护层之间,并围绕显示层。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的封胶的材质为紫外光固化封胶。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的基板为主动元件阵列基板。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的基板为被动元件阵列基板。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的基板为玻璃基板或金属基板。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的基板为可挠性基板。
在本发明的一实施例中,上述的显示层为显示层为胆固醇液晶显示层(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Display Layer)、电泳显示层(Electrophoretic Display Layer)、电湿润显示层(Electrowetting Display Layer)或电子粉流体显示层(Quick Response Liquid Powder Display Layer)。
由上可知,本发明电子纸显示装置因将彩色滤光图案整合至保护层,所以不需要于保护层上设置彩色滤光片。如此,不需要复杂的彩色滤光片对准黏贴制程即可得到具有全彩显示效果的电子纸显示装置,所以能节省生产步骤以及相关装置的成本,从而降低了生产成本。此外,相较于现有外贴彩色滤光片的电子纸显示装置,本发明的电子纸显示装置在厚度上可大幅减少。

为更进一步阐述本发明为达成预定发明目的所采取的技术手段及功效,以下结合附图及较佳实施例,对依据本发明提出的电子纸显示装置其具体实施方式、方法、步骤、结构、特征及功效,详细说明如后。
有关本发明的前述及其他技术内容、特点及功效,在以下配合参考图式的较佳实施例详细说明中将可清楚的呈现。通过具体实施方式的说明,可对本发明为达成预定目的所采取的技术手段及功效有一更加深入且具体的了解,然而所附图式仅是提供参考与说明之用,并非用来对本发明加以限制。
图1是本发明所提供的一实施例的一种电子纸显示装置的示意图。请参考图1,本实施例的电子纸显示装置1包括基板11、显示层13以及保护层15。
基板11可以是可挠性基板,亦即电子纸显示装置1可为可挠性显示装置,但在其他实施例中,基板11也可为刚性基板。具体而言,基板11可为玻璃基板、金属基板或塑料基板等。此外,在本实施例中,基板11可以为主动元件阵列基板(如薄膜晶体管阵列基板),但本发明并不以此为限。在其他实施例中,基板11亦可为被动元件阵列基板。
显示层13设置于基板11上。显示层13可为胆固醇液晶显示层、电泳显示层、电湿润显示层或电子粉流体显示层等,但本发明并不以此为限。
保护层15设置于显示层13上。保护层15的面对显示层13的底面151设置有多个彩色滤光图案152。换言之,彩色滤光图案152形成于保护层15的底面151上。这些彩色滤光图案152可以呈阵列排列,且这些彩色滤光图案152可以为具有多种颜色的多个彩色光阻。举例来说,彩色滤光图案152可包括红色光阻、绿色光阻与蓝色光阻。有关各色光阻的配置方式为所属技术领域的通常知识,在此将不详细说明。此外,在保护层15的底面151还可设置黑色矩阵153,以分隔这些彩色滤光图案152,进而防止通过相邻彩色滤光图案152的光线彼此干扰。
本实施例的电子纸显示装置1还可进一步包括封胶17。此封胶17设置于基板11与保护层15之间,并围绕显示层13,以保护显示层13。而且,封胶17还可使显示层13和保护层15更稳固地固定于基板11。在本实施例中,封胶17的材质可以为紫外光固化胶(或称为UV胶),其可在紫外光照射后产生聚合反应而固化。
相较于现有于保护层上另外贴附彩色滤光片的技术,本实施例的电子纸显示装置1因使用含有彩色滤光图案152的保护层15,所以可直接将保护层15配置于显示层13上即可达到彩色显示效果。由于不需于保护层15上另外贴附现有技术的彩色滤光片,所以可节省将彩色滤光片对准并黏附于显示层的步骤以及相关装置,从而降低本实施例的电子纸显示装置1的生产成本。此外,现有技术的彩色滤光片中,玻璃基板的厚度较厚,但本实施例因不需使用彩色滤光片,所以能大幅降低电子纸显示装置1的厚度。

Claims (10)
1.一种电子纸显示装置,包括:
一基板;
一显示层,设置于所述基板上;以及
一保护层,设置于所述显示层上,且在所述保护层的面对所述显示层的一底面设有多个彩色滤光图案。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述多个彩色滤光图案包括具有多种颜色的多个彩色光阻。
3.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:在所述保护层的所述底面还设有一黑色矩阵,以分隔所述多个彩色滤光图案。
4.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述电子纸显示装置还包括一封胶,所述封胶设置于所述基板与所述保护层之间,并围绕所述显示层。
5.根据权利要求4所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述封胶的材质为紫外光固化胶。
6.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述基板为主动元件阵列基板。
7.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述基板为被动元件阵列基板。
8.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述基板为玻璃基板或金属基板。
9.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述基板为可挠性基板。
10.根据权利要求1所述的电子纸显示装置,其特征是:所述显示层为胆固醇液晶显示层、电泳显示层、电湿润显示层或电子粉流体显示层。
