The present invention relates to a bracelet link carrying at least one decoration of any shape.
The cutting by stamping of an opening of any shape intended to receive a decoration of the same shape in a relatively thick bracelet link encounters difficulties, more particularly if the shape to be cut is not circular.
The object of the present invention is to produce a bracelet link making it possible to cut therefrom without any particular difficulty an opening of any shape intended to receive a decoration of the same shape.
To achieve this object, the bracelet link according to the invention is produced as described in claim 1.
By the fact that the link or part of it is thinned, cutting by stamping an opening of any shape in the thinned part becomes possible without particular difficulties.
The invention will be described below, by way of example, and with the aid of the drawing in which:
fig. 1 is a plan view of a link according to a first embodiment of the invention,
fig. 2 is a side view of the link in FIG. 1,

fig. 7 is a section along the line VII-VII of FIG. 5 of the first variant,
fig. 8 is a section along line VIII-VIII of FIG. 5 of the second variant,
fig.
9 is a section along the line IX-IX of FIG. 10 of a first variant of a third embodiment of the invention,
fig. 10 is a section along the line X-X of FIG. 9,
fig. 11 is a section along the line XI-XI of FIG. 12 of a second variant of the third embodiment,
fig. 12 is a section along the line XII-XII of FIG. 11,
fig. 13 is a section along the line XIII-XIII of FIG. 14 of a third variant of the third embodiment, and
fig. 14 is a section along the line XIV-XIV of FIG. 13.
Figs. 1 to 4 show a first embodiment of the invention with a bracelet link 1 comprising at its upper part a decoration 2, for example of hexagonal shape or any other shape inscribed in a circle C. A recess 4 is at previous practice from below the link in the body 3 thereof.
This circular shaped recess has the same diameter as the circle
C circumscribed to the shape of the decoration 2. Its purpose is to thin the link at the location of the decoration in order to allow cutting by
stamping an opening 7 of the same shape as that of the decoration in the thinned part 6 of the link body. After cutting the opening 7, a plug 5 is introduced from the bottom into the recess 4 in order to close the latter. This plug 5 is welded to the body 3 of the link and sanded so as not to identify the process used to obtain the cut opening 7.
Fig. 3 shows a first variant of the link according to the invention, in which the plug 5 comprises a bore 8 intended to receive the rod 9 of the decoration 2. The latter is finally introduced from the top into the opening 7, its rod 9 entering in the hole 8 of the plug in which a drop of glue has previously been deposited.
Fig. 4 shows a second variant of the link according to the invention. This variant differs from the first in that the decoration 2 includes a threaded hole 10 making it possible to fix the decoration to the plug 5 by a screw 11.
Figs. 5 to 8 show a second embodiment of the link according to the invention. In this case, the decoration 2 has an elongated shape, the largest dimension of which can be at most equal to the width of the lower part of the link and does not allow the recess necessary to receive this decoration, since the circumscribed circle of this shape would be much too large in diameter, especially in relation to the width of the link. In the example illustrated, the decoration is rectangular, but it is clear that any other form of the decoration, such as for example an oval, a non-isosceles triangle, etc., also comes into consideration.
In this case, the link 1 is made in a profile 16 having at the lower part of the link a central groove 12 extending over the entire length of the link, so that the aminicie part 6 also extends over the entire length of the link. The opening 7 of the decoration is then cut from the thinned part 6 of the profile 16, as in the first embodiment.
The plug 13, 14 is the same length as the link and, as before, it is introduced from below into the central groove 12 of the body 3, welded and sanded.
Fig. 7 shows a first alternative embodiment. In this case, the decoration 2 does not include a rod, its upper and lower faces being flat. A threaded opening in the underside allows it to be fixed to the plug by a screw 11. In fig. 7,
The thickness of the plug 13 is less than the depth of the central groove 12 to leave sufficient thickness for the decoration 2. In the case of FIG. 8, the decoration 2 has at its center a cylindrical part 15 engaging in a corresponding opening in the plug 14. As previously, a threaded opening is made in the cylindrical part 15 to allow the decoration to be fixed to the plug by a screw 11. In fig. 8, the plug 14 has a thickness equal to the depth of the central groove 12.
The embodiments described above show the same idea consisting in thinning the profile of a bracelet link normally too thick to be cut, an opening of any shape, intended to receive a decoration of the same shape, being cut in the thinned part.
The opening 7 is cut by stamping, the die of the cutting tool resting on the upper face of the link and the punch acting inside the recess 4 or in the central groove 12.
Figs. 9 to 14 relate to a third embodiment of the invention in which the link 1 is in two parts, respectively the link body 17 and a plate 18 with a surface corresponding to that of the upper part of the link body, fixed on this last. The plate 18, which may for example be made of steel or hard metal, is relatively thin with respect to the body 17, in order to allow an opening 19 to be cut therefrom adapted to that of the decoration 2, this opening serving as a housing for the decor. In the third embodiment, the plate is in all cases fixed to the upper part of the link body 17, for example by welding at its periphery.
Figs. 9 and 10 show a first variant of the link 1 according to the third embodiment. In this variant, clearances 20 are provided in the upper face of the body 17, over the entire length of the latter. The central part of the plate 18 is thinned by a recess 21 of the same width as the remaining part between the two recesses 20 of the body 17 and extending over the entire length of the plate. The purpose of the clearances 20 and 21 is to precisely position the plate on the link body and to hold this plate during the subsequent welding operation. Note that in the three variants of Figs. 9 to 14, the decoration 2 comprises a central rod 22 glued or forced into a corresponding opening in the link body 17.
Figs. It and 12 show a second variant of the link according to the third embodiment. In this case, grooves 25 are formed in the upper face of the link body 17, over the entire length of the latter. The plate 23 carries at its lower part and over its entire length two ribs 26 in principle of the same section as that of the grooves 25 and engaging therein. As before, the grooves and the ribs make it possible to precisely position the plate on the link body and to hold this plate during the subsequent welding operation.
Figs. 13 and 14 show a third variant of the link according to the third embodiment. In this case, it is a plate 24 with a flat lower face resting on the flat upper face of the link body 17. To allow precise positioning of the plate on the body 17, the latter has two ends towards its ends. pins 27 engaging in corresponding openings in the link body. In fig. 13 and 14, these pins are not through but it is also possible to make them through and to rivet or weld them to the lower part of the link body. The non-through pins can be fixed by gluing or driven into the corresponding openings in the body 17.
It is also possible, in the case of the third variant described above, to remove the pins 27, the plate being first positioned and held on the link body by electrical welding (by resistance or by points) and then permanently welded to its periphery as in the other variants.
The link body is generally, but not exclusively, made of stainless steel or nickel silver, the steel or hard metal plate, the decor can be made of steel, noble metal, hard metal or semi-precious material and the cap is usually made of steel. This, in combination with different finishes of the upper visible surfaces of the link and of the decoration, makes it possible to produce a very large number of different executions of bracelets comprising the link according to the invention. On the other hand, figs. 1 to 14 show that the upper face of the decoration protrudes from the upper face of the link. However, this is not compulsory and it is clear that the link can be made in such a way that the upper face of the decoration comes flush or even set back from the upper face of the link. Likewise, the invention is not limited to a single decoration per link.
In the case of the first embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 4, it is possible to assemble for example at least two decorations along the length of the link.
