The present invention relates to a gear change control mechanism for a gearbox, in particular for a sector-controlled box.
Gearboxes, in particular of the sector type, such as those used on certain tillers, have the drawback of requiring, on the part of the operator, a certain dexterity and a certain skill allowing him to simultaneously actuate the control lever. gearshift and clutch handle to enable gear engagement.
The aim of the present invention is to make it easier for the operator to maneuver the gear change.
To this end, the mechanism according to the invention is characterized by the fact that an elastic device is interposed between the manually operated control member and the member of the box that the mechanism controls, this elastic device being arranged in such a way. so that, in at least one direction of the movements of the control organ, the operator's force is transmitted by means of this elastic device.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a general perspective view of a tiller on which the present mechanism is mounted, and fi g. 2 is a longitudinal schematic section of this mechanism.
The tiller 1 shown schematically in FIG. 1 is of the single-axis type and comprises an engine 2 and a gearbox 3, which is incorporated in the engine.
The gearbox 3 is sector-controlled, that is to say that its control lever 4 is arranged so as to oscillate around an articulation center 5. An elastic jumper device 6, shown schematically. , ensures the stability of the different positions of the lever 4 corresponding to one or more dead points and to the different speeds. The gear change control mechanism comprises a rod formed of two parts 7 and 8, one of which, which can be operated manually, carries for this purpose a control knob 9, and the other of which is articulated at 10 at the end of the lever 4. The rod 7 is slidably mounted on a support 11 carried by the handlebars 12 of the tiller.
The rods 7 and 8 are connected by an elastic device 13 shown in detail in FIG. 2.
This elastic device comprises a sleeve 14 fixed to the rod 8, at its end opposite to that by which it is articulated on the lever 4, in which slides a part 15, in the form of a piston, fixed to the end of the rod 7. opposite to the one with the pommel 9.
A coil spring 16 is interposed between the part 15 and the bottom 14a of the sleeve 14, while a coil spring 17, engaged on the rod 7, is interposed between the movable part 15 and a pierced cover 18 fixed to the 'open end of the sleeve 14. The two springs 16 and 17 both work in compression.
Thanks to the present arrangement, the force applied by the operator on the knob 9 of the rod 7 is transmitted to the rod 8, and consequently to the lever 4, by means of one or other of the springs 16 and 17, depending on the direction of its application.
As a result, the operator does not have to show tact or skill when changing gears: if they do not engage easily, depending on the relative position of the gearbox components which move during this engagement (pinions, clogs, balls or others), the operator can, while exerting a constant force on the knob 9, concentrate his attention on the operation of the clutch, the handle 19 of which is visible in fig. 1; by gradually releasing this handle, the operator initiates a start of drive of the gearbox members, thanks to which the engagement of the desired gear can take place.
As soon as this engagement becomes possible, it occurs of itself, under the effect of that of the springs 16 and 17 which is compressed by the pressure exerted by the operator on the knob 9 of the rod 7. The operator therefore does not have to measure its force on the knob 9 as would be the case if the elastic device 13 did not exist. If necessary, observation of the jumper mechanism 6 will enable it to see that the desired speed is engaged and then to release the pressure exerted on the pommel.
