Process for the preparation of new N-heterocyclic compounds The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of new N-heterocyclic compounds of the formula

EMI0001.0073
and. subsequent reaction of the resulting 3 - half gene - 5 - chlorocarbonyd - imi (o, d'ibenzyls or -immostilbene) with an amino alcohol of the formula HO -Z-Am IV.
By addition of reactive esters, especially halides or sulfates, ah, phatic or araliphatic alcohols, eg.
B. of merohyl iodide, dimethyl sulfate, ethyl bromide, ethyl iodide or benzyl chloride, monoquaternary ammonium compounds can be produced from tertiary amines of the formula I in the usual way, with the group Am reacting.
With inorganic or organic acids such as hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, methanesulfonic acid, ethane disulfonic acid, acetic acid, citric acid, malic acid, succinic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid, tartaric acid,
Benzoic acid and phthalic acid form the tertiary base salts, some of which are water-soluble.
In the examples below, parts are parts by weight; these are related to parts of volume as g to cm3. They are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 23 parts of 3-chloro-iminodibenzyl are abs in 200 parts by volume. Xylene dissolved. Phosgene is passed into the solution with stirring,
namely initially for one hour at room temperature and then for 3 hours at 80. The mixture is then stirred for a further 3 hours at 90-100 without adding phosgene.
The reaction solution is now evaporated in vacuo and! the greenish residue. recrystallized from cyclohexane, the pale yellowish 5-chlorocarbonyl-3-chloro-iminodibenzyl from the syrup. 142 receives.
29.2 parts of 5-chlorocarbonyl-3-chloro-iminodibenzyI are abs in 200 parts by volume. Benzene boiled under reflux for 8 hours with 10.3 parts of γ-dimethylaminopropanol.
After cooling, the reaction solution is extracted with water and then with dilute hydrochloric acid. The combined extracts are made alkaline and extracted with ether.
From the ether solution, dried with sodium sulphate, one obtains 3 = chloro-iminodibenzyl 5-carboxylic acid (y-dimethylamino-propyl ester) by concentration. It is heated to 160 in a water jet vacuum, and the temperature is gradually increased to 2l0 until the carbon dioxide has been eliminated. The residue is distilled in a high vacuum, the 5- (γ-dimethylamino-propyl) -3-chloro-iminodibenzyl at 152-160; 04 mm passes.
When mixed with dilute hydrochloric acid, this base gives the hydrochloride with a melting point of 191-192.
From 27.4 parts of 3-bromo-iminod'benzyl and 4.3 parts of sodium amide powder in absolute xylene or toluene and 13.8 parts of y-dimethylamino-propyl chloride, analogously to the above example, the 3 - Brom-5 = dimethylamino-propyl-iminodibenzyl hydrochloride with a melting point of 173-175.
