Apparatus for dispensing material in grains or powder,
especially foodstuffs,
with preselection of the quantity to be debited
The present invention relates to an apparatus for dispensing material in grains or powder, in particular foodstuffs, with preselection of the quantity to be dispensed. It is particularly applicable to the distribution of foodstuffs such as coffee beans, powdered sugar, flour, semolina, etc.
The dispensing apparatus which is the subject of the invention comprises at least one dispensing unit and it is characterized in that each unit comprises a reservoir for the material to be dispensed, the bottom of which communicates by means of a metering device, with a discharge channel for the metered material, this metering device comprising two movable members angularly relative to one another and determining, by their spacing, the volume of the quantity of material to be dispensed indicated on a scale opposite which moves an index carried by an operating button of the dosing device, the whole arranged so that the flow is done by first turning the button in one direction until the index indicates the desired quantity, then by turning the button in the opposite direction, beyond the starting position,
this last maneuver arming a spring which returns the metering units to said starting position.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention given by way of example.
Fig. 1 shows said embodiment of the dispenser in front elevation and partially cut away.
Fig. 2 is a section on II-II of FIG. 1, and
fig. 3, a section along III-III of FIG. 2.
Figs. 4, S, 6 and 7 show, schematically, the four main positions of the members of the metering device.
Figs. 8 and 9, two parts of the metering device, and
fig. 10, a ring of a device for coupling the members of FIGS. 8 and 9.
The dispensing device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 comprises several distribution units housed in a box 1 provided with a hinged cover 2 3.
It goes without saying that the box could contain only one unit.
Each dispensing unit comprises a reservoir 4 housed in the box 1 and intended to receive the material to be debited. The open bottom of this tank rests on a hopper 6 through which the material flows to a metering device. The tank is closed at its upper part by a removable cover 5.
The lower orifice of the hopper 6 is normally closed by a shutter member 8 of the metering device visible in section in FIG. 2. The hopper 6 is formed in the upper part of a block 7 having a central cylindrical cavity 17 which serves as a housing for the members 8 and 10 of the metering device which can rotate with a slight friction in this housing which communicates below with a channel. outlet 9 opening into a funnel 23 integral with the bottom 24 of the box 1 and below which the quantity of metered material is received.
The metering device comprises two main rotary members 8 and 10 nested one inside the other.
The shutter member 8 has an axis 11 on which is fixed, by means of two screws (not shown) diametrically crossing the axis, a radial pallet 8 'whose end is integral with a cylindrical wing 8 "coaxial with axis 11 and having an extent of approximately 1800. The part 10, which can be designated by the term of housing since it contains the shutter member 8, has two circular cheeks 12 parallel and coaxial, the spacing is equal to the width of the wing 8 "; these cheeks 12 are interconnected by a semi-cylindrical axis 14 and by a radial pallet 13 extending from the axis to the periphery of the cheeks 12.
The axis 14 matches the axis 1 1 and has two holes 15 which allow the passage of the aforementioned screws for the assembly of the axis 1 1 to the pallet 8 ', this assembly being done after having separately placed the parts 1 1 and 8 in the housing 10. The parts 8 and 10 can thus rotate with respect to each other by an angle of less than 1800.
The rear end of the axis 1 1 (the one on the left in FIG. 2) has an axial cavity 1 1 'which covers a pivot carried by a base 16 fixed to the rear wall of the body 1. On this end is still rotatably mounted a ring 18, one face has two notches 19, in the form of sawtooth, diametrically opposed. In these notches takes place a pin 19 ′ passing through the axis 11. The role of this coupling device will be explained below. On the other end of the axis 11, which passes through the front wall of the body 1, is pinned a knurled operating button 20, provided with an index 21 cooperating with a graduated scale 22 placed on the front wall of the body .
On this same end of the axis 1 1 is still fixed, by means of a pin 26, a stop ring 25 which bears against one of the cheeks 12 of the housing 10. A spiral spring 27 is placed between this cheek and the front wall of the body. One of the ends of the spring 27 is hooked to a peg 28 planted in this wall and the other to a peg 29 secured to said cheek 12. This spring tends to return the housing 10 in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 7. A stopper, not shown, prevents the housing from exceeding the position for which the pallet 13 occupies that indicated in FIGS. 4 and 5.
Referring to Figs. 4 and 5, the instructions for use of the dispensing device will now be explained.
Fig. 4 shows the position of the parts of the distributor in the rest or starting position. The material 30 contained in the reservoir rests on the wing 8 ". When it is desired to discharge a determined quantity of said material 30, the knob 20 is turned in the direction of the arrow (fig. 5) until its index 21 corresponds on the scale to the desired quantity, expressed, for example, in grams, the apparatus being calibrated according to the material to be cut. During this movement of the button, the pallet 13 remains blocked against its stop , while the shutter 8, integral with the axis 11, followed the button and discovered the orifice of the hopper 6. The material 30 can thus flow and fill the sector determined by the two vanes 13 and 8 '; the weight of the volume of material contained in this sector corresponds to that indicated by the index 21.
During the rotation of the axis 11, the pin 19 'has rotated the ring 18 which has slipped against the cheek 12. Now, the knob 20 is turned in the other direction (fig. 6); because of the inclined ramps of the notches 19, the ring 18 is pressed against the corresponding cheek 12, the other cheek abutting against the ring 25, which causes the drive of the housing 10 at the same time as that of the shutter 8.
This results in the transport of the material contained in the sector towards the mouth of the channel 9 and its discharge into the funnel 23 and, from there, into a horn, for example, placed under the funnel.
A stop, not shown, prevents the pallet 13 from exceeding the position indicated in FIG. 6.
As soon as the button 20 is released, the spring 27 returns the housing 10 and its pallet 13 in the direction of the arrow (fig. 7); this pallet joins the pallet 8 'and also pushes the shutter 8 back into the rest position (fig. 4). As seen in Figs. 6 and 7,
The shutter closes the orifice of the hopper 6 during the discharge of the quantity of material stored in the sector during the first phase of operation, so that the device only discharges at each operation the quantity stored in the sector.
