Winding mechanism for camera. The object of the present invention is a winding mechanism for cameras, in particular cinematographic, comprising a drive spring, charac terized in that it comprises means of tines to allow the winding of said spring by the two alternations of a reciprocating movement of a rotating winding member.
The object of the invention is to provide a winding device making it possible to wind up the spring quickly and easily by eliminating the periods when the winding member runs empty or during which the operator must change the grip.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, various embodiments of the mechanism according to the invention.

Fig. 8 is a section taken along line 8-8 of the mechanism shown in FIG. 7.
Fig. 9 is a view of another embodiment.
Fig. 10 is a section taken along line 1.0-10 of the mechanism shown in FIG. 9. Figs. 11 and 12 show another embodiment, plan and side view. Figs. 13 and 14 show a variant of the mechanism according to FIGS. 11 and 12, plan and side view.
The fi-. 15 and 16 represent two other embodiments of the invention.
All the winding mechanisms described are used in conjunction with cameras, not shown, actuated by a spring motor 1. This spring is secured, by one of its ends, to a pin 2, while the other is preferably fixed to a barrel coupled to the mechanism of the apparatus and not shown in the drawing. Thus, by rotating the axis 2 in the desired direction, the spring 1 is raised.
Although this is not indicated in each of the figures, in all the embodiments described below, the axis 2 is provided with a retaining mechanism 3 allowing the rotation of said axis 2 with respect to the housing 4 of the camera. in the direction of reassembly only. This retaining mechanism may consist in particular of a ratchet 5 fixed to the axis 2 and and by a pawl 6 articulated on the housing 4 of the camera; however, other known devices can also be used.
The winding mechanism shown in fig. 1 comprises a toothed wheel 7 fixed to the axis 2 and a toothed wheel 8 coupled to the winding key 9 which can turn in both directions. In addition, two sets of intermediate gears 10, 11 and 12, 13, 14 are arranged between the wheels 7 and 8, the extreme gears 10, 12 and 11, 14 of these sets of gears being constantly in engagement with the wheels. corresponding 7 and 8.
Two ratchets 15 and 16 are respectively secured to the pinions 11 and 14 and are driven in the direction of the arrows only, by pawls carried by the transmission shafts. Thus, depending on the direction of rotation of the key 9, the wheel 7 is driven, in the winding direction indicated by the arrow 17, either by the train 10, 11, comprising an even number of intermediate gears, or by the train 12, 13; 14, comprising an odd number of intermediate gears.
The winding mechanism shown in fig. 2 is a variant of the mechanism shown in FIG. 1. One of the gear trains comprises a single intermediate gear 18 and the other two intermediate gears 19 and 20. The operation of this mechanism is the same as that of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 to 10 show winding mechanisms each comprising two coaxial toothed wheels carried by axis 2 to which they are coupled, by two clutches, in the winding direction only, a train of gears having an odd number of intermediate gears being arranged between said wheels. The winding member is coupled to one of said wheels.
The mechanism shown in fig. 3 and 4 comprises a wheel 21 with internal toothing 22, and a wheel 23 provided with an external toothing 24, these two wheels not being integral with the axis 2. An intermediate pinion 25 is pivoted freely on the housing 4 of the camera and in grene with the two wheels 21 and 23 mentioned above. Ratchets 26 and 27 integral with the axle 2 cooperate with pawls 28 and 29 articulated respectively on the wheels 21 and 23. The winding key 30 is carried by the wheel 21.
The winding mechanism shown in fig. 5 and 6 differ only in that only one ratchet 31 is provided, the two pawls 28 and 29 both attacking the ratchet 31.
The mechanism shown in fig. 7 and 8 differ from the previous ones in that two friction clutches 32 and 33 are arranged between the axis 2 and the toothed wheels 21 and 23, instead of the ratchet mechanisms described above. Each of these clutches comprises an eccentric recess formed in the body of the corresponding wheel and a free coupling cylinder arranged inside the recess. This device is established so as to couple the axle to the wheel in the winding direction only.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 9 and 10, two toothed wheels 34 and 35 rotate freely around the axis 2; in addition two friction clutches 36 and 37, both allow the axis 2 to be coupled to each of the wheels 34 or 35 in the winding direction; a train of pinions having an odd number of intermediate pinions, that is to say the three pinions 38, 39 and 40, is arranged between the wheels 34 and 35. The winding key 41, rotating freely on the axis 2, is fixed by means of screw 42 to the wheel 34. It is easy to see that whatever the direction of rotation of the key 41, the axis 2 always turns in the direction indicated by the arrow 43.
In an embodiment not described, a freewheel coupling is arranged between the pinions 39 and 40, the wheel 35 then being integral with the axis 2.
The embodiment shown in fig. 11 and 12 comprises a pinion 45 coupled by a shaft 51 to the winding key 46, and pinions 47, 48 and 49, the pinions 47 and 49 while constantly meshing with the wheel 45. The pinions 47, 48 and 49 are carried by a cradle 50 which can oscillate around the shaft 51 on which it is mounted in friction. The operation of this mechanism is as follows: by turning the key 46, the cradle 50 is simultaneously rotated in the same direction, engaging either the train of pinions 47 and 48, or the pinion 49 with the wheel 52, in the direction of rotation of the key 46. As can easily be seen, the drive wheel 52, fixed to the axis 2, always rotates in the direction of clockwise.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 13 and 14 is very similar to that described above. The only difference lies in the fact that the cradle 53 is carried by a separate axle 54, friction being introduced between the cradle 53 and at least one of the two pinions which it carries. This winding mechanism works in the same way as the previous one.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 15 comprises a ratchet 57 fixed to the axis 2, two pawls 58 and 59 arranged so as to alternately rotate the ratchet 57 in a one-way direction and a rotating element 60 on which the pawls 58 and 59 are articulated. springs 61 and 62 are arranged so as to apply the pawls 58 and 59 against the teeth of the ratchet 57. The winding key 63 is fixed to the element 60. Two pins 64 fixed to the camera housing cooperate with a projection 65 of element 60 to limit its angle of rotation.
A similar execution fbrme not shown comprises at least two pawls carried by a crankshaft integral with the winding member and arranged in superimposed planes, thus allowing unrestricted angular movements of the winding member.
Fig. 16 shows a similar embodiment; however, two ratchets 66 and 67 are provided and are coupled by the wheels 68 and 69. The ratchet 66 and the wheel 68 are supported by the axis 2 of the spring, while the ratchet 67 and the wheel 69 are supported by a parallel axis 70. The two pawls 71 and 72 are articulated on a double lever 73 carrying the key 76 and pivoting at 75, and are applied by springs 74 against the teeth of the rocks 66 and 67; the latter are arranged so as to be driven alternately sui. before the direction of rotation of the key 76.
