Description
Filters for liquids.
The present invention relates to a filter for liquids such as liquid coolants used in machine tools, etc.
The filter constructed in accordance with the present invention allows, with a suitable design, a very compact design, that is, the accommodation of a comparatively large filter surface in a small space.
The drawing shows an example embodiment of the filter according to the present invention, namely shows:
1 shows a partial longitudinal section through a single filter element,
2 shows a section through a filter containing several elements and
FIG. 3 shows a section along line 111-111 in FIG. 2.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the filter element has a cylindrical shape and has a metal fleece 1, which is wrapped around a cylindrical spiral spring 2.
The latter is pushed onto a projection of a nipple 4 and is suitably secured at point 5 by soldering. The spiral spring 2 holds the sieve, which is too fine to be stiff itself, in its shape. At the lower end of the filter element, the sieve 1 forms a closure in that the lower ends of the sieve are bent over to form a base 6.
Such an element can be installed on its own in machines where a liquid is to be filtered. This liquid enters the screen cylinder 1 from the outside and leaves the nipple 4 through the opening 6.
However, it is expedient to assemble a plurality of filter elements in the manner illustrated in FIGS. 2, 3. Numerous filter elements are fastened with their nipples in a cover plate 7 here. The mode of operation of the device shown is readily apparent from FIG. 2. The cover plate 7 with the various filter elements protrudes into a container 8 with an inlet opening 9 for the liquid to be cleaned and an emptying opening 10. The filtered liquid flows in the sense of FIG 2 shows the arrows provided under the hood 11 in the outlet connection 12.
The end cover of the apparatus shown in FIG. 2 is double-walled in that the two walls are formed by the plate 7 on the one hand and the hood 11 on the other.
This training allows easy removal of the filter elements and facilitates their control and cleaning.
The filter described has small dimensions and a low weight with the greatest possible performance. The filter can be cleaned and checked without removing the lines 9, 12, in that it is sufficient to lift out the hood 11 and the plate 7 below.
As mentioned above, the fabric 1 is normally so fine that it would not retain its cylindrical shape without the support of the spring 2. A normal fabric No. 400 with 23500 perforations per cm2 is expediently used. For other filters, a fabric no. 100 with around 1500 perforations per cm2 will suffice.
PATENT Claimant:
Filter for liquids, marked by at least one cylindrical element having a screen with a cylindrical spiral spring maintaining the screen in its shape.
