Die Achse<I>f</I> der Haupträder<I>d,</I> <I>d'</I> dieses Getriebes ist im Gehäuse<I>B</I> gela- t.
Device on bicycles to enable the foot drive to be supported by hand drive. When driving uphill, as a result of the increased effort required on the foot drive, the cyclist involuntarily strives to pull the handlebars upwards when he presses his feet on the pedals for greater force.
The invention now relates to a Vorrich device on bicycles to enable the support of the foot drive by hand drive, for example by taking advantage of the tensile forces exerted on the handlebars when driving uphill. This device is characterized in that the steering rod arms are rotatably mounted on a housing forming the body of the steering rod and are brought into motion connection with the pedal axis via a gear unit housed in the same,
that by alternately turning the handlebar arms in time with the pedaling movement by hand, an additional driving force can be transmitted to the pedal axle to support the foot drive. This allows z. B. mountain driving are significantly easier tert.
The drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention. Fig. 1 shows a bicycle with the device in front view; Fig. 2 is a partial longitudinal section and Fig. 3 is a cross section through the steering rod of the bicycle; 4 and 5 show the pedal axis of the bicycle.
On a housing B forming the body of the handlebar of a bicycle, the handlebar arms a are rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis. The bearing journals of the arms a are inside the housing <I> B </I> each with a tooth arch b, respectively. b1 verse hen, respectively, via a gear drive c. c 'with a gear <I> d, </I> dl, e is in motion connection.
The axis <I> f </I> of the main gears <I> d, </I> <I> d '</I> of this gearbox is loaded in the housing <I> B </I>. The axis g of the intermediate gear e, which is perpendicular to the axis f, sits on a bearing bush h of the housing <I> B. </I> The main gear d of the transmission is also supported by a flexible pulling element 211 (FIGS. 4 and 5), which leads in the vicinity of the pedal axis D of the bicycle via a diverting disk 3c provided there, connected to the main wheel dl of the transmission.
One strand of this traction element m is looped around a grooved disk o sitting on the pedal axis and the other strand around a grooved disk p sitting on the pedal axis. The two pulleys o, p are each provided with a freewheel gear (Fig. 5).
The arrangement and arrangement of these parts is such that when, when driving uphill, the driver in an effort to increase the foot drive force by pressing on the pedals, involuntarily causes the steering rod arms a to twist the same, this reciprocal twisting of the arms a im Cycle with the pedaling movement through the gearbox <I> d, </I> dl,
e and the movement transmission element in on the pedal axis D in an additional drive force that always supports the foot drive in the same direction comes into play in that the pulling element acts alternately on the drive pulleys o and p during its back and forth movement, so that the drive of the bicycle with combined foot and hand strength.
Understandably, the additional manual drive also works well when driving on level roads. You only need to turn the handlebar arms a alternately in the cycle of pedaling in the sense of exercising a pull on the pulling element, which can be easily learned through some practice. If you want to omit the actuation of the handlebar arms u in the direction of rotation, the handlebar can be gripped at the arms a for supporting long side bushes <B> 9 </B> of the housing B.
