Method of strapping crates and similar packages and apparatus for implementing this method. The present invention relates to a method for strapping boxes and similar packages.
This process consists in placing a strip previously provided with a screed around the packing box to be strapped by passing the free end of the strip through the screed, then by tensioning it, after which the ends of the film were rigidly subjected. lard to the yoke, this operation preferably being carried out by punching in the thickness of the metal formed by the yoke and the two superimposed strands of the strip. The free end of the strip can be inserted in the yoke against the other end of the strip previously fixed to said yoke and on the side closest to the box to be strapped.
The punching of the metal through the yoke can be carried out so as to perforate the thickness of the metal and cause some of the metal to push back into the perforation, and this perforation can be carried out in the direction of the box to circle, so that the metal is forced back to said box.
The apparatus for strapping boxes and similar packages by the method according to the present invention comprises means for holding the strip, means for holding said strip while it is stretched, and means for deforming the yoke. This appliance is characterized by a base plate, a frame fixed to said base plate, a carpet supported by the frame, a punch placed in the frame, so as to be able to smooth, a stop preventing the movement of the yoke in the direction of the length of the strip, means for bringing the strip into contact with the strip, means for turning the wheel in one direction so as to move the free end of the strip towards the stop and means to activate the punch.
An embodiment of the apparatus for strapping boxes according to the present invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a side view of the apparatus; Fig. 2 is a plan of FIG. l; Fig. 8 is a perspective of the lard-unified sheet of a screed electrically welded to it.
This device is constructed and operates as follows: A strip of strip 1 provided - with a screed 2 is placed by hand around a case or similar package, then the free end of the strip - is introduced into the screed 2 , between this strip of strip previously fixed to the yoke and the packing box or similar package.
The apparatus shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is then approached to the strip of bacon so that the yoke 2 is introduced in the direction of arrow a, in the space 8 made above the base 4 of the machine and exactly centered below the punch 5. Then the part of the strip is placed in the free space 6 under the drag wheel 7, which, to. this moment, is noted (fig. 1). In this position, the whole of the strip and of the yoke is held by the stop piece 8 having a narrow pitch 9. This passage 9 is wide enough to allow the introduction of two strips of strip, but it is too narrow to allow the screed to penetrate it.
Consequently, during the operation of the machine, the yoke and the strip abut against the part 8, which makes it possible to carry out the tension and the punching as will be described below.
The strip being thus disposed in the apparatus, the whole of the device carrying the wheel 7 is lowered by acting in the Bens of the arrow b on the lever 10 mounted on the eccentric 11. This lowering has the effect of direct contact of the teeth of the wheel 7 with part 1 'of the bacon strip. The wheel 7 is then actuated in the direction of the arrow c, by lowering the lever 12 in the direction of the arrow d, this lowering movement being transmitted to the wheel 7 by means of a pawl 13 and a ratchet 14.
The lever 12 is then actuated several times from bottom to top and from top to bottom until the strip driven by the wheel 7, which presses strongly on it, is completely stretched and tightened by force around the body, it being understood that the stop 8 prevents the yoke from moving in a direction.
The strip being thus stretched, the strands of the strip are securely fixed to the screed using a perforation which, passing through these three parts, will push the metal internally through this perforation and towards the packing box to be strapped, so that the metal is forced back towards said body, thus constituting a completely inviolable ligature.
The perforation indicated above is made by means of a punch 5 lowered by the cam 15 which moves in the direction of the arrow e under the action of the toothed gears 16 and 17 actuated by the levers 18 and 19 during lifting them in the direction of arrows f and g. A slot 20, centered below the punch 5, is provided in the base 4.
This slot is disposed transversely to the strip, once it is introduced into the device and the punch 5 has a thickness, transversely to said slot, equal to the width of this slot and a thickness longitudinally to this slot less than the length of this slot, as can easily be seen in fig. 2, so that the punch cuts the metal along lines parallel to the slot and folds it inward along lines perpendicular to the slot. During the upward movement of the levers 18 and 19, the lever 19 meets the lever 10 and automatically returns it to its raised position and, thus causing the eccentric 11 to turn, moves the wheel 7 away from the strip.
Once the perforation has been carried out, the levers 18 and 19- are lowered to their original position. The device is then removed by moving it transversely to the strip, so that the strip is withdrawn from the device in a direction opposite to that indicated by the arrow a.
The same operation can be started again with other strips of strip on the same packing box as many times as necessary to obtain an absolutely tamper-proof seal.
It should be noted that in addition to ensuring an inviolable ligature of the package, the process described offers the advantage that the free end of the strip is introduced into the yoke above the other end of the strip. previously fixed to the yoke, which avoids the operation of cutting this free end.
It goes without saying that the invention has been described and represented for purely explanatory purposes, but in no way limiting and that various modifications of detail could be made to it without altering its spirit.
