Automatic watch winding device. The present invention relates to a device for automatically winding watches by the movement of the wearer thereof. The device according to the invention comprises a heavy oscillating body arranged to produce the rotational movement of a wheel belonging to a watch-winding train by means of a spring-loaded drag member established to act on the watch. an annular ring of teeth with oblique attack surfaces provided on said wheel, with a view to driving it,
when it is angularly displaced by an oscillating movement of said oscillating heavy body.
The winding device according to the invention applies, for example, with advantage to wristwatches where the winding thereof is maintained by the movement of the wrist.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a rear view of a mon tre-bracelet provided with one of these embodiments; Fig. 2 is a transverse view thereof along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a detail view; Fig. 4 shows the other embodiment in a wristwatch; Fig. 5 is a sectional view of a detail of this embodiment.
Referring to Figs. 1 to 3, we see that 11 designates the case of a watch-brace let in which is housed the clockwork movement 12. A shaft end 13 is supported at one end by the shaft 14 of the hand. minutes, while the other end of said shaft end 13 is supported by a pin 15 carried by the bridge 16 advancing on the rear part of the clockwork movement. A toothed wheel 17 and a ratchet wheel 18 comprise a common barrel 19 nested on the end of the shaft 13. A second ratchet wheel, 20, of larger diameter (read the wheels 17 and 18, is mounted idle on the barrel 19 between wheels 17 and 18.
A sector-shaped swing arm 21 is pivoted on pin 15 and is provided with a weight 22 which is moved relative to the plane of the main part of said arm and engages over the edge of the clockwork movement. . The arm 21 carries a spring loaded pawl 23 which engages the teeth of the ratchet wheel 20 to rotate the latter in the counterclockwise direction.
A drive latch 24 is hinged to the ratchet wheel 20 and is arranged to be held in engagement with the inclined dorsal surface of one of the teeth of the ratchet wheel 18 by the effect of an arcuate leaf spring 25. , which, at one end, is pivoted on the ratchet wheel 20, while its other end is pressed by pressure on the latch '24.
The pressure force exerted by the arched spring 25 on the latch 24 can be adjusted by means of a regulating member 26 (fig. 3) established in the form of a rotating polygonal part mounted eccentrically on a pivot 27 and of which one yes the other face serves as a support for an end tail of the arcuate spring 25 to determine the intensity of the pressure exerted by the latter on the latch 24. By bringing, by rotation of the polygonal part 26, the 'Either face thereof in engagement with said tail, the pressure force of the spring 25 can be set within certain limits.
The toothed wheel 17 is connected by a gear train to the winding wheel 28 of the mainspring barrel so that its rotational movement produces the winding of the barrel spring. A pawl 29 engages in a wheel of the winding train to allow the latter to walk in only one direction. The latch 24 is kept pressed on the inclined dorsal surface of one of the teeth of the ratchet wheel 18 by the arcuate spring 25 with a pressure force normally sufficient to cause the drive, -cr counter rotation to the movement of the needles. 'a watch, the ratchet wheel 18 and the toothed wheel 17.
In this way, any rotational movement imparted to the ratchet wheel 20 by the oscillating weight 22 is normally communicated by the latch drive mechanism to the toothed wheel 17 and by it, by means of the winding train, to the wheel. winding 28. Spring buffers 30 are provided to limit the amplitude of oscillation of the oscillating weight.
The pressure exerted by the drag latch 24 on the inclined dorsal faces of the teeth of the wheel 18 exceeds the normal resistance of. watch barrel spring. However, when the barrel spring is wound up, its winding resistance increases and when the barrel spring is almost wound up, the resistance of the winding train exceeds the driving force applied by the latch to the ratchet wheel 18. In Under this condition, the latch 24 slides over the inclined dorsal surface of the ratchet wheel teeth without driving the ratchet wheel.
By adjusting the intensity of the pressure of the latch 24 on the teeth of the ratchet wheel 18, the extent to which the barrel spring will be raised can be adjusted. This pressure will be adjusted by adjusting the tension of the arcuate spring 25 or said regulator 26. The arm 21 is however free to oscillate at all times, whether or not a rotational movement of the wheel 18 is produced.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 4 and 5, the winding-weight oscillating arm 32 has a different shape than in the previous example, its oscillation amplitude being limited by spring buffers 33. A spring pawl 34 is articulated on the oscillating arm 32 and engages in the teeth of a ratchet wheel 35 to impart to it titi rotational movement contrary to the movement of clockwise. A toothed wheel 36 coaxial with the ratchet wheel 35 is provided with an annular ring of teeth 37 with inclined dorsal surfaces. A latch 38 in the form of a pin is carried.
by one end of a leaf spring 39 which is pivoted on a bracket 40 carried by the ratchet wheel 35 and is provided with an adjusting screw 41. The latch 38 passes through an opening made in the ratchet wheel. ratchet 35 to engage, by its bevelled lower end, with the teeth 37 of the wheel 36. The latter engages with one of the wheels of the winding train, whereby a rotational movement of the wheel 36 is capable of producing the movement of rotation of the winding wheel 42 of the mainspring barrel. A pawl 43 allows the movement of the winding train in one direction only.
The oscillating arm 32 imparts by the pawl 34 to the wheel 35 a rotational movement counterclockwise. The wheel 35, via the spring latch 38, drives the wheel 36 in the direction counterclockwise to the movement and thus causes the winding of the spring barrel. When the resistance to winding the barrel out exceeds the driving force applied by the latch 38 to the inclined faces of the teeth 37 of the wheel 36, the latch 38 will overlap the teeth 37 from there. wheel 36 without producing rotation.
This arrangement prevents any excessive re-assembly of the spring barrel and this condition is maintained until the resistance of the spring barrel is equal to or less than the force applied by the latch 38 to the wheel 36. The intensity of l The force applied by the latch 38 to the teeth 37 of the wheel 36 can be adjusted by means of the adjustment screw 41 bearing on the wheel 35.
