Device for the preparation of infusions of coffee, coffee and similar drinks. The present invention relates to a positive device for preparing infusions of coffee, tea and the like, comprising a closed container constituting a boiler, in which the water necessary for the infusion is brought to a boil and a container containing carrying the charge of substance intended to produce the infusion located above the first, these two receptacles communicating together by a tube leaving the boiler and terminating in the upper receptacle.
It is characterized in that this tube contains a second one which is movable in its interior, so as to be able to communicate, according to the reciprocal position of the two tubes, either the boiler with the upper part of the receptacle containing the load of substance intended. to produce the infusion to cause the water expelled from the boiler to be poured out by the pressure of the steam on this substance, i.e. the lower part of the upper container with the boiler to allow the prepared infusion to flow into the latter. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial and vertical section of the first embodiment; Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional view along the line 11-II of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is an axial and vertical section of the second form.
The device shown (Fig. 1 and 2) comprises a lower closed container 10, provided with a neck 11 closed by a stopper 12. On this container 10 is fixed an upper container 13 provided with a cover 14 and an unscrewable bottom 15, above which is placed a filter 16.
The container 13 fits into the opening of the lower container 10 and is retained on a flange 17 of the latter by a groove 19 of a flange. 18 which it comprises and which engages with a rivet 20 fixed to the flange 18, so as to constitute a bayonet closure (fig. 2) which makes it possible to easily separate the two receptacles one from the other. 'other, while keeping them firmly united when the parts occupy the position indicated in FIG. 1.
The bottom 15 of the upper container is crossed by a tube 21, the lower end of which is located near the bottom of the container 10 and which extends upwards to the upper part of the container 13. It ends at the top with a conical flange 22. Underneath this flange, the tube is provided with openings 23 and, near the bottom 15, it has similar openings 24.
In the tube 21. is housed another tube 25 extending upwards so as to pass through the handle 26 of the cover 14. Its upper end is closed by a screw cap 27. The tube 25 can be slid inside the tube. tube 21 and has two series of openings 28 and 29 which are intended to be brought alternately facing the openings 23 and 24 of the tube 21. The position is such that, when the openings 28 1; coincide with the openings 23 (posi tion shown in the drawing), the openings 24 located near the bottom 15 are closed by the tube 25.
The tube 21 also has in its part located below the bottom 15 a or opening 24 'intended to coincide with an opening 29' of the tube 25, when the two tubes are in the position in which the openings 24 and 29 are opposite. each other.
To make the openings 24 and 29 coincide, the tube 25 must be moved longitudinally in the tube 21 and it is then the upper openings 23 which are closed by the tube 25.
The longitudinal stroke of the tube 25 is regulated by a screw 30 fixed in a ring 31 of the tube 21 and passing through the wall of the latter: The tip of this screw 30 penetrates into a longitudinal slot 32 of the tube 25, the length of which corresponds to the stroke necessary to make the openings 23 and 28, or 24 and 29 coincide. The operation of this device is as follows Assuming that you want to prepare an infusion of coffee, the load is placed in the receptacle 13, on the filter 16. of powder and in the container 10 the quantity of water necessary for the preparation of the infusion, taking care that the level remains below the opening 24 '.
The containers 10 and 13 are then assembled as shown in FIG. 1 of the drawing and the stopper 12 is fixed on the opening of the neck 11. The tubes 21 and 25 are placed relative to each other, so that the openings 24 and 29 as well as 24 'and 29' coincide. .
The container 10 is then subjected to the action of any heat source and, while the water is heated, steam can escape through the openings 24 ', 29' and 24 and 29.
When the boiling begins, the tube 25 is placed in the position shown in the drawing, so as to close the openings 21 'and 24 and to make the openings 23 and 28 coincide. The pressure of the vapor in the container then expels the vapor. water through the tube 21 into the upper container 13, into which it pours through the openings 23 and 28. The collar 22 then serves to distribute the water leaving the openings 28, 23 over the entire load of coffee. When practically all the water from the container 10 has passed into the container 13, the action of the heat source on the first is stopped and the openings 29 and apertures 29 are locked by longitudinal displacement of the tube 25 in the tube 21. 24 of these two tubes, which are located between the filter 16 and the bottom 15. This is done by simply pressing button 27.
The cooling of the container 10 creates a negative pressure in the latter, which causes a suction through the tube 21. The water passing through the charge of powder in the container 13 is therefore attracted towards the filter 16 and passes from there. by the or vertures 24, 29 to return to the receptacle 10. The infusion is then completed.
It is understood that the receptacles 10 and 13 could be joined to each other in another way than shown, just as the bottom 15 and the filter 16 could be arranged in another way, the bottom 15 for could for example be permanently fixed to the receptacle and the tube 21 be disposed in a removable manner in this bottom.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the lower container 40 is analogous to that of the first form described above. It is surmounted by an upper container 41 also similar to the container 13 of the first form, but whose bottom -12 is fixed. This bottom is crossed by a tube 43 similar to the tube 21 of the first form, but which is integral with this bottom. The lower part of the container 41 has an internal rib 44 on which rests a filter 45 provided, in its central part, with a tube 46 sliding on the tube 43 and intended to allow it to be easily withdrawn from the container, for example in town. cleaning the latter.
Above the filter 45 is placed a screen 47 which slides freely in the receptacle 41 and on the tube 43. It has in its central part a tube 48 similar to the tube 46 of the filter 45.
In the tube 43 is housed a tube 49 provided in its upper part with a ball valve 50, making it possible to communicate the tube through openings 51 with the interior of the container 41. The body of the valve repopulates on the tube. The upper end of the tube 43 and comprises a lateral lever 52 whose end 53, which is provided with a button, protrudes outside the container 41.
The latter is provided with a cover 54 having on its edge a cutout 55 intended to allow angular displacement of the lever 52.
In the space situated between the bottom 42 and the filter 45, the tube 43 has openings 56. The tube 49 has at this location openings 57 intended to come into coincidence with the openings 56, when the tube is rotated. tube 49 by means of lever 52.
To limit the movements of the tubes 43 and 49 relative to each other, the latter has a countersink 58 into which the end of a pin 59 penetrates.
On the other hand, the tube 43 has, in its part located below the bottom 42, an opening 60 with which coincides a or opening 61 of the tube 49 in one of the positions of the latter.
The operation of this embodiment is as follows: The containers 40 and 41 being assembled as shown in the drawing and the first containing the water, the other the load, for example of coffee powder, necessary for the infusion. sion, the container 40 is placed on a heat source after having closed the neck, as in the first embodiment. Until the moment when the water comes to the boil, the opening 60 of the tube 43 is made to coincide with the opening 61 of the tube 49 by moving the latter by means of the lever 52. The water level being in Below these openings, steam can escape either through valve 50 or through openings 56 and 57 which also coincide.
When the boiling begins, the lever 52 is moved so as to close the openings 60 and 56 of the tube 43, so that the pressure of the steam pushes the water through this tube through the valve 50 and them. openings 51 on the powder charge held in the upper container. The heat source is then removed, to the action of which the container 40 is subjected.
The lever 52 is then moved again so as to make the openings 56 and 57 coincide and the vacuum produced in the container 40, as a result of its cooling, produces a suction, so that all the liquid contained in the container 43 returns as an infusion in the lower container. The ball valve closes, during this time, hermetically the upper opening of the tube 49. To remove the screen 47 as well as the filter 45, it suffices to remove the pin 59, in order to be able to remove the tube 49 from the tube 43. Pin 59 could also; be replaced by another retaining means, such as for example a screw.
The device has the great advantage of allowing, in certain cases, depending on the type of infusion to be prepared, to leave the water for a shorter or longer time in contact with the load. The water can in fact be left for a certain time in the upper container before opening the openings 24, 29 or 56, 57 which allow the flow into the lower container.
