Un piston 1 est destiné à être mû dans un réservoir cylindrique 2 dont un orifice 4 est muni d'une soupape constituée par un disque 3 en caoutchouc fixé à un disque 5 en métal. Un fil métallique 6 faisant ressort, enroulé autour d'une tige 7 portée par une pièce 8 fixée au fond du cylindre 2, tend toujours à maintenir la soupape fermée.
Un conduit flexible 9 réunit ce cylindre avec une tubulure 10 dont l'extrémité amincie est destinée à être placée comme l'indiquent les fig. 3 et 4 entre deux ron- delles 18 et 17 dé caoutchouc destinées à former joint entre un couvercle 15 et le corps du récipient 11 contenant les aliments et dans lequel on peut faire alors le vide à l'aide d'une pédale 12 surmontant la tige 13 du piston 1. La rondelle supérieure 18 est légèrement retirée vers l'extérieur pour lais ser toute liberté de passage à l'air.
Le piston 1, en descendant, repousse l'air qui .se trouve au-dessous -de lui et qui passe entre ce piston et la paroi du cylindre 2, la soupape étant fermée par l'action de la pres sion, et le joint 1-6 du piston étant agencé pour laisser alors passer l'air tout autour.
La descente du piston comprime un res sort 14 qui le fait remonter dès que cesse l'action du pied, et le mouvement d'ascension dudit piston produit le vide d'air dans le récipient<B>11,</B> la soupape s'ouvrant sous l'ac tion de l'aspiration. Il est facile de retirer l'extrémité -de la tubulure 10, sans que la main cesse d'appuyer sur le couvercle 15 et de fermer celui-ci, en le fixant par des moyens connus. Le mouvement de la soupape pourrait être limité par un arrêt quelconque. Le dispositif de soupape pourrait d'ailleurs être modifié. mais celui qui est montré donne de bons ré sultats.

A piston 1 is intended to be moved in a cylindrical reservoir 2, an orifice 4 of which is provided with a valve constituted by a rubber disc 3 fixed to a metal disc 5. A metal wire 6 making a spring, wound around a rod 7 carried by a part 8 fixed to the bottom of the cylinder 2, always tends to keep the valve closed.
A flexible duct 9 joins this cylinder with a tubing 10, the thinned end of which is intended to be placed as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 between two washers 18 and 17 of rubber intended to form a seal between a cover 15 and the body of the container 11 containing the foodstuffs and in which the vacuum can then be created using a pedal 12 overcoming the piston rod 13 1. The upper washer 18 is slightly withdrawn outwards to allow free passage of air.
The piston 1, while descending, pushes the air which is located below it and which passes between this piston and the wall of the cylinder 2, the valve being closed by the action of the pressure, and the seal 1-6 of the piston being arranged to then allow air to pass all around.
The descent of the piston compresses a res out 14 which causes it to rise as soon as the action of the foot ceases, and the upward movement of said piston produces an air vacuum in the container <B> 11, </B> the valve opening under the action of suction. It is easy to remove the end of the tubing 10 without the hand ceasing to press on the cover 15 and to close the latter, fixing it by known means. The movement of the valve could be limited by any stop. The valve device could also be modified. but the one shown gives good results.
