Abstract

The said industrial design consists of the shape, configuration and ornamentation of a seat for an automobile having a seat portion and a back rest portion; the seat portion has a generally flat rectangular rear section which merges into a front section; the front section has an upwardly inclined flat area which merges through a rounded front end into a downwardly and forwardly extending front area; the seat portion has raised side sections which extend along the sides of the seat portion; each side section has smooth inner and outer surfaces and a narrow, generally flat upper surface with rounded corners between the upper, inner and outer surfaces of each side section; the outer surface of each side section has a tonally contrasting area which extends the length of the side section and upwards around the rear edge of the side section and around the forward edge of each side section; the tonally contrasting area continues across the lower rear surface and the lower front surface of the seat;the back rest portion has a generally flat central section with a generally straight upper edge and rounded upper corners; the back rest portion has an upper section which extends around an upper portion of the central section and has outwardly and forwardly flared and enlarged lower portions with rounded outer corners and smooth curved front surfaces; the upper end of the upper section is situated above and slightly to the rear of the adjacent upper portion of the central section;the back rest portion has a further section which extends the height of the central section and to the rear of the upper section; the further section has lower outwardly and forwardly flared and enlarged lower portions which are situated below the lower portions of the upper section and have smooth inner and outer surfaces; the rear of the further section has a smooth curved upper surface having a tonally contrasting arcuate area which extends along the upper rear surface; the upper edge of the tonally contrasting arcuate area generally follows the contour of the upper edge of the further section; the lower section of the rear surface of the further section has a scalloped surface area which curves forwards at the lower end thereof to the adjacent tonally contrasting lower rear surface of the seat; the right side of the upper section of the back rest portion has a tonally contrasting, outwardly extending tapered member which extends along the side of and merges into the upper section of the back rest portion.Representations of the design are shown in the figures wherein:Fig. 1 is a front perspective view from the right side of a seat for an automobile; Fig. 2 is a front perspective view from the left side thereof;Fig. 3 is a rear perspective view from the right side thereof;Fig. 4 is a rear perspective view from the left side thereof;Fig. 5 is a front elevation view thereof;Fig. 6 is a rear elevation view thereof;Fig. 7 is a top plan view thereof;Fig. 8 is a bottom plan view thereof;Fig. 9 is a right side elevation view thereof; andFig. 10 is a left side elevation view thereof.Diagrams of the design are included.
