Abstract

"MéTODO PARA PRODUZIR PLANTAS TRANSGêNICAS E PARA MODULAR A ATIVIDADE DE CITOCININA EM PLANTAS, PLANTAS TRANSGêNICAS, DNA RECOMBINANTE, PROMOTOR E CASSETE DE EXPRESSãO". Esta invenção se refere, em geral, ao campo de biologia molecular de plantas. Mais especificamente, esta invenção se refere a métodos e reagentes para a expressão temporalmente- e/ou espacialmente-regulada de genes que afetam metabolicamente os níveis efetivos de citocininas em plantas, particularmente em sementes de planta e tecido reprodutivo feminino relacionado. Esta invenção adicionalmente se refere a plantas transgênicas tendo níveis melhorados de expressão de citocinina, sendo que a planta transgênica apresenta características úteis, tais como tamanho de semente melhorado, aborto de extremidade de grão diminuído, aumentada produção de semente durante condições ambientais desfavoráveis, ou estabilidade de produtividade. A presente invenção também provê composições e métodos para regular a expressão de seqüências de nucleotídeos heterólogas em uma planta. As composições compreendem novas seqüências de nucleotídeos para promotores semente-preferidos conhecidos como eep1 e eep2. é provido um método para expressar uma seqüência de nucleotídeos heteróloga em uma planta usando as seqüências de promotor reveladas aqui. O método compreende a transformação de uma célula de planta para compreender uma seqüência de nucleotídeos heteróloga operacionalmente ligada a um dos promotores da presente invenção e regeneração de uma planta estavelmente transformada a partir da célula de planta transformada.
