São obtidas amostras de dados (A - L) de um dispositivo de controle (10, 11, 12, 16, 17) durante a utilização para controle de um processo de material (13). Amostras selecionadas destas amostras são armazenadas representando resultados da operação do dispositivo através de partes de suas características, e as mesmas são seletivamente combinadas para obtenção de uma indicação das características do dispositivo inteiro.
