Abstract

Patente de Invenção: <B>"MATERIAL DE INSERçãO CORNEAL INTRAESTROMAL RADIAL E UM PROCESSO DE INSERçãO"<D>. A presente invenção refere-se a um material de inserção corneal intraestromal elaborado para ser meridionalmente situado em uma bolsa ou canal intralamelar, feita dentro da córnea de um olho de um mamífero. O material de inserção tem uma forma que, quando inserido na córnea, tem uma dimensão radial ou meridional significativa e pode ser usado para ajustar a curvatura corneal e assim corrigir ou aperfeiçoar as anomalias de visão, tal como hiperopia. Os materiais de inserção podem ter um componente circunferencial à configuração deles, para permitir correção concorrente de outras anomalias de visão. O material de inserção radial pode ser feito de um material fisiologicamente compatível, por exemplo, um ou mais polímeros macios, firmes ou gelatinosos, naturais ou sintéticos. Além do mais, o material de inserção ou segmento pode ser usado para transferir agentes terapêuticos ou de diagnóstico para a parte interna da córnea ou para a parte interna do olho. Um ou mais dos materiais de inserção dessa invenção são, tipicamente, inseridos na córnea, de modo que cada um deles subentende uma parte do meridiano da córnea fora da área central da córnea, por exemplo, a área através da qual a visão é alcançada, mas dentro do diâmetro frontal da córnea. Tipicamente, o material de inserção é usado em arranjos de dois ou mais para corrigir anormalidades visuais específicas, mas podem ser usados isoladamente, quando é requerido. A invenção também inclui tanto um procedimento minimamente invasivo, para inserção de um ou mais dos dispositivos na córnea, usando os procedimentos que começam dentro da córnea, bem como os procedimentos que começam na esclerótica.
