Abstract

trata-se de um processo para produzir paraxileno, no qual uma matéria-prima de hidrocarboneto aromático que compreende benzeno e/ou tolueno é colocada em contato com um reagente alquilante que compreende metanol e/ou éter dimetílico numa zona de reação de alquilação sob condições de alquilação na presença de um catalisador de alquilação para produzir um produto aromático alquilado que compreende xilenos. o catalisador de alquilação compreende uma peneira molecular que tem um índice de restrição ¿ 5, e as condições de alquilação compreendem uma temperatura menor do que 500°c. o catalisador de alquilação pode ser seletivado para produzir uma quantidade superior à de equilíbrio de paraxileno com o uso de uma razão molar de agente alquilante para aromática de pelo menos 1:4.
