<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Closing device for windows and doors"
The present invention relates to a closing device for windows and doors, in which a pivoting closing rod, provided with an end hook, can be operated by means of at least one lever. In the known devices of a similar type, for example in the locking devices with Spanish slats, the device is opened or closed by a combined pivoting movement of the operating lever in two planes at right angles to one another. compared to each other. Unlike these known closing devices, the object of the invention is distinguished by the fact that the opening and the closing are obtained by a pivoting movement of the lever in the same plane.
The appended drawing represents two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of a first embodiment of a rod closure device interrupted in the upper part.
Fig * 2 is a vertical longitudinal section taken along the line II-II of Fig. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 are horizontal cross sections taken along lines III-III and IV-IV of Figs. 2 and 1.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section corresponding to FIG. 2, of a second embodiment of the rod closure device, interrupted at the top and at the bottom.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Figs. 6 and 7 are horizontal cross sections taken along lines VI-VI and VII-VII of FIG. 5.
Fig. 8 shows an alternative embodiment of part of the closure device according to FIG. 5.
The rod closure device according to Figs. 1 to 4, shown by way of example applied to a two-leaf window, comprises a vertical closing rod 4, fixed by a housing 2 and guides 3 on one of the window leaves, indicated in at. This rod is made up of three parts coupled to one another, and can pivot around its axis like any Spanish closing rod. At both ends, the rod 4 is provided with hooks 4a which, in the closed position of the device, hook onto a stud, not shown in the drawing, and provided on the window frame.
The linkage 4 is actuated by means of a hand lever 5, integral with a journal 6, rotatably mounted in the lateral flanks of the housing 2. At its internal end, the operating lever 5 is provided with a guide mortise 5 which, when the device is closed, is oriented obliquely upwards and backwards, and in which engages a drive pin 7 welded to the rod 4. When the lever 5 is folded upwards in the drawing plane, the rod 4 receives by the action of the mortise 5 on the stud 7 a rotational movement, the end hooks 4a thus being released from the locking studs. When lever 5 is folded back in the opposite direction, the operation is repeated in the opposite direction.
In itself, the two end hooks 4a may be sufficient to properly hold the window in its closed position. To obtain the closed state also in the middle of the window, the pin 6 carries a closing tab 8 which, when the operating lever 5 is folded downwards, engages in a keeper 9, fixed on the window sash indicated in b.
While, in the previously described embodiment, the closing rod 4 is visible due to its arrangement on the frame of the window sash a, this rod is invisible in the following embodiment. Figs. 5, 6 and 7, and housed in a recess on the corresponding side of the window sash c. The closing rod 10 carries a spherical nipple 10a which is articulated on one end of a link 12, the opposite end of which is articulated on the rear part of the operating lever 13, which is also rotatably mounted. in the flanks of the case 11. A movement of folding this lever upwards, relative to the plane of the drawing, produces, in a manner similar to that indicated above, a movement of rotation of the link 10, in the direction of the closure.
At the same time, a tab
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
locking device 14, which can slide inside the housing 11, is actuated by another spherical stud 15, also welded to the rod 10, and which engages in a corresponding recess formed in this tongue. In the closed position, this tongue 14 engages in the opening of a keeper 14a provided on the other leaf of the window, so that the latter is still in this case maintained in its closed position in three points, that is, top, bottom and middle.
So that it is possible to open the window from the outside, an operating lever 16 is provided on the exterior side of the leaf c., And this lever is pivotally mounted in the lateral flanks of a housing 17 fixed to the beating a. On the internal end of the lever 16 is articulated a connecting rod 12a, the internal end of which is shaped as a threaded rod to allow adjustments and screwed into a wing of an angle 18. In the other wing of this angle 18 is made a notch in which engages another stud 19 fixed on the rod 10. When the operating lever 16 is folded upwards, a rotational movement is therefore obtained in the same direction as when the operating lever 13 is itself folded up.
In the embodiment according to Figs. 5 and 6, the rod 12 undergoes a thrust force when the device is opened. Fig. 8 shows an alternative embodiment of this device, in which the rod 12b undergoes a tensile force when the device is opened.
