<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 3 ist ein Verbindungssehema des Zentrifugalschalters (Ausführung 11).

Method and device for the automatic regulation of the mixture formation through the idle nozzle in carburetors of motor vehicles.
The present invention relates to a method and a device for automatically preventing undesired mixture formation through the idling nozzle in carburetors of motor vehicles.
It is generally known that the negative pressure in the intake line, by means of which the fuel is sucked into the cylinder, depends on three factors, namely the temperature of the engine, the number of revolutions of the engine and the position of the throttle valve of the carburetor is.
If the throttle valve is in the idle position, i.e. almost closed, the negative pressure in the intake line at start is around 100-150 g / em2, increases to around 300 <y / CN and when the engine is completely warmed up is around 600 <jf / ct; the car pulls the engine, be it by that
Dead weight when driving downhill, be it according to the law of inertia on a level track (i.e. without
Gas), the negative pressure immediately increases to a multiple of the normal value.
As a result of this increased negative pressure, a correspondingly larger amount of fuel is now sucked in from the idle nozzle, which is in action alone. This amount of fuel is much larger than is generally assumed. After the idling nozzle has to be dimensioned in such a way that, as a result of the low negative pressure generated by the engine running on idle, one for all idling
If a sufficient amount of fuel is conveyed at temperatures, the idling nozzle causes a large waste of fuel when the accelerator is not activated and higher speeds, especially when the engine is at operating temperature, and thus significantly reduces the economy of the vehicle.
At the same time, a lot of harmful influences occur in this case, u. betw.: Due to the strong air throttling, most of the fuel gets into the engine in a liquid state or only poorly atomized, where it washes the oil film from the cylinder walls, dilutes the oil in the crankcase in four-stroke engines and causes irregular, unpleasant explosions in two-stroke engines generally cause extremely annoying tearing of the two-stroke engines.
The essence of the invention is that a stop is provided for the idle position of the throttle valve of the carburetor, which is actuated by means of an electromagnetic relay and the idling channel opening in front of the throttle valve on the engine side is fully opened by means of a valve, and between version I only if the gearshift lever of the vehicle is in the idling position or the engine is engaged, according to version II when the engine speed reaches the value that corresponds to its number of revolutions at idle.
In order to ensure a safe restart at the same moment when these conditions are met, the actuation mechanism of the clutch is connected to that of the carburetor in such a way that when the clutch is disengaged, the accelerator is automatically accelerated for an adjustable time, so that the engine is charged with certainty .
The device for performing the method consists of a mechanical stop for the idle position of the throttle valve and a valve that opens or closes the idle channel, the stop and the valve being actuated by one or more electromagnetic relays and corresponding springs, from a driver on Throttle linkage and a latch with back lock on the clutch lever. Furthermore, according to version I, a switch connected to the clutch mechanism and a switch connected to the gearshift linkage of the transmission
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
connected switch, according to embodiment 11 from a centrifugal holder which is connected to the motor.
The invention is to be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment illustrated in the drawing. Fig. 1 is a view, partially in section, of the gasifier provided with the device according to the invention. Fig. 2 is a circuit diagram of the individual switches when using two switches (embodiment 1). Fig. 3 is a connection diagram of the centrifugal switch (Embodiment 11). Fig. 4 shows a detail of the connection between the clutch lever and the regulating linkage of the carburetor.
In Fig. 1, the throttle valve 2 is provided in the suction channel 1 of the carburetor for regulating the amount of gas and the electromagnetic relay 3 is provided on the suction channel pipe.
If this is current flowing, the displaceable iron core 4, which is provided at the end with the stop 5, is drawn into the solenoid coil. The fixed iron core 6 limits the movement.
This movement is transmitted by the lever 7 to the flap 2 and thus via the cam 8, roller 9, to the valve 10, which closes the idle channel.
The valve 10 is opened at the slightest throttle and then controlled in the course of the further movement of the throttle valve 2 by means of the roller 9 and the lever 22 through the curve 8 so that it is more or less depending on the composition of the mixture occurring at the respective valve position opens or closes, exactly as it is necessary to achieve a constant mixture.
This device can be controlled in two ways:
1. The fact that an electrical switch 11 is arranged on the shift lever of the transmission gear, which turns on when the shift lever is brought into the neutral position, that an electrical switch 12 is also attached to the clutch mechanism, which turns on when the clutch is engaged ; According to FIG. 2, the two switches are on the one hand on the positive pole 15 of the electrical line of the motor vehicle and on the other hand on the relay 3, which in turn is connected to ground 14 and thus to the negative pole.
2. The fact that a centrifugal switch 13 is connected to the motor, which switches off when the motor reaches a speed that is greater than its number of revolutions when idling. The connection in question is illustrated in FIG. 3, from which the simplicity of the circuit, which consists of the relay 3, the centrifugal switch 13, the ground connection 14 and the connection of the switch to the positive positive pole 15, emerges.
4 illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the device which, in the event of a sudden disengagement, enables the motor, which was previously completely discharged, to be filled immediately and thereby prevents it from dying off. This device, which has the purpose of mechanically connecting the manipulation mechanism of the clutch with that of the carburetor, consists of a roller 16 which is arranged in a carrier 19 which is rotatably fastened around the pin 17 of the arm 18 and via one on the clutch pedal 20 attached control cam 21 slides, whereby it directly or indirectly actuates the throttle valve of the carburetor via the Bowden cable 22. The time of filling can be regulated by the special design of the cam 21. The back pressure spring 23 automatically returns the roller carrier with the roller to the original position.
The mode of operation according to version I is as follows: If the car drives with the motor engaged and the speed switched on, without the accelerator being operated, the flap 2 closes completely, as does the valve 10. The motor sucks neither fuel nor air, performs little compression work and develops a barely noticeable deceleration.
When the clutch is suddenly disengaged, the cam 21 pushes the Bowden cable 22 of the carburetor lever a little by means of the roller 16 and the carrier 19, but it goes back immediately. In the meantime, however, the switch 12 has already switched on, the throttle lever slides back until the lever 7 comes to rest against the stop 5. The position of this stop has already been changed beforehand by the fact that current flowed through the relay at the moment of disengagement so that the flap 2 is now held in the position in which the engine is idling normally and in which the valve 10 is already so is open wide than necessary.
According to version II, the process is analogous, except that when the clutch is suddenly disengaged, current does not flow through the relay immediately, but only until the engine has reached idling speed.
The advantages of the invention are based on a significant increase in the economy of the vehicle without a reduction in performance, furthermore in the thorough elimination of all harmful influences mentioned at the beginning of the description and in the resulting protection of the engine.
