<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a spark protection device for a line surrounded by an insulating layer, with two clamping jaws which can be clamped together by means of a tensioning element and between them delimit at least one channel for receiving a line, at least one clamping jaw having teeth corresponding to the thickness of the insulating layer, and with a spark arrester.
Such a spark protection device is such. B. from EP 0 387 865 El, in which two channels are provided between the jaws, one of which is provided with teeth for receiving the line and the other for receiving the spark arrester. This spark protection device has the disadvantage that, when it is installed, the line and the spark arrester must also be arranged between the clamping jaws before the tensioning element can be tensioned, as a result of which the assembly is complicated and usually requires two fitters. The orientation of the spark arrester is also limited.
The aim of the invention is to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned and to provide a spark protection device which can be assembled easily and simply and in which the spark arrester can be removed or replaced without having to release the clamping jaws.
This goal is achieved with a spark protection device of the type specified at the outset in that, according to the invention, one of the clamping jaws has an attachment provided with an external thread and that the spark arrester horn has an opening corresponding to the cross section of the attachment at one end and can be fastened to this attachment by means of a nut.

are shown; 1 shows a view of the spark protection device, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line 11-11 in FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 shows a view of the clamping jaw provided with the attachment in the direction of arrow A in FIG. 2.
According to the drawings, the spark protection device has two clamping jaws 1 and 2, which can be clamped together by means of a clamping element in the form of a clamping screw 3. One of the clamping jaws 1 has a smooth through bore 4, while the other clamping jaw 2 has a corresponding internal thread 5. A channel 6 for receiving a line is formed between the two jaws 1 and 2. In the area of this channel 6, both jaws are provided with teeth 11 and 12, the length of which corresponds to the thickness of the insulation of the line, in order to be able to penetrate the insulation and to make electrical contact. A further channel 7 is expediently provided between the two clamping jaws 1 and 2 for receiving a further line, such as a connecting wire.
The clamping jaw 2 provided with the internal thread 5 has an extension 8 on its outside, which is provided with an external thread 9. Furthermore, a bearing surface 10 is formed on the jaws 2 in the area of this extension 8.
The protective device is completed by a spark discharge horn 13, which consists of two straight sections adjoining each other at an obtuse angle. The shorter section is flattened and provided with an opening in the form of a bore 14, the diameter of which corresponds to that of the extension 8. The spark arrester 13 sits with its flattened section on the bearing surface 10 and is fastened to the attachment 8 with the aid of a nut 15.
If the bearing surface 10 and the associated surface of the flattened section of the spark arrester 13 are flat, then
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the spark arrester 13 can be oriented in any direction.
As mentioned, instead of the spark arrester 13, a branch or ground line can be connected at any time via a cable clamp.
To assemble the spark protection device, the spark arrester 13 is expediently fastened to the associated clamping jaws 2 in front of it and then offers a holding element which enables good handling.
If the spark arrester 13 is to be replaced, this can be done without loosening the jaws 1 and 2.
