Abstract

La presente proporciona un catalizador de hidrogenacion efectivo para hidrogenar 3-hidroxipropionaldehído en 1,3-propanodiol. El catalizador de hidrogenacion comprende un soporte a-alumina, níquel, rutenio y un promotor. El níquel se deposita sobre el soporte a- alumina, y el rutenio y el promotor se depositan sobre el níquel y el soporte a-alumina. El soporte a-alumina comprende al menos el 92% del peso del catalizador y el níquel comprende del 1% del peso al 6% del peso del catalizador. La presente también proporciona un procedimiento para hidrogenar 3-hidroxipropionaldehído en 1,3-propanodiol con el catalizador. Reivindicacion 14: Un procedimiento para preparar un catalizador que comprende: a) depositar níquel sobre un soporte que consiste en alfa-alumina; b) calcinar el soporte con el níquel a continuacion c) luego calcinar, depositar rutenio y un promotor escogido del grupo que incluye renio, tungsteno, molibdeno, cromo, lantano, estano, hierro, cobalto, plata, cobre, o mezclas de los mismos sobre el soporte y sobre el níquel para formar un precursor de catalizador; y d) reducir el níquel, rutenio, y promotor del precursor de catalizador a un estado de oxidacion metálica cero para formar el catalizador.
