Description
本発明は、作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる方法、酸捕捉剤の耐燃焼性向上剤としての使用、及び、耐燃焼性向上剤に関する。
ルームエアコン等の冷凍機には、冷凍機油及び冷媒(これらを含む組成物は作動流体と呼ばれる)が充填されている。冷凍機の整備、移設や撤去の際、冷媒を回収するなどの目的で「ポンプダウン」と呼ばれる手法が用いられることがある(例えば、下記特許文献1参照)。ポンプダウンは、圧縮機を運転し、冷媒ガスを機器内に集めるもので、適切な手順に従って行われる場合は安全な手法である。
しかし、例えばバルブ操作等の手順を間違えて配管を外した状態で上記したポンプダウンを行うと、機器が大量の空気を吸い込み、そのまま圧縮機の運転を続けることで圧縮機内部の圧力、温度が上昇してしまうことがある。この場合、冷凍機に充填されている冷凍機油及び冷媒が燃焼するおそれがあり、それが爆発(ディーゼル爆発)につながるおそれもある。このような現象は、冷媒として、近年注目されている低GWPの可燃性冷媒を用いた冷凍機において、特に注意が必要である。これに対して、特許文献2には、ジ-tert.-ブチル-p-クレゾールを添加することにより、冷凍機油と冷媒とを含有する冷凍機用作動流体組成物の耐燃焼性を向上させる方法が開示されている。
冷凍機のポンプダウン時においては、作動流体が燃焼する可能性をできる限り低減することが望ましい。また、たとえ着火したとしても、その燃焼の伝播を抑制し、燃焼圧力を増大させず、危害度を低減できるよう制御できることが望ましい。そこで、本発明は、冷凍機のポンプダウン時に誤って空気が混入した場合であっても、作動流体の燃焼リスクを低減することを目的とする。
本発明者らは、冷凍機油に酸捕捉剤を含有させることにより、従来(例えば特許文献2に記載されているような方法)と比べて、作動流体の耐燃焼性を更に向上させることができることを見出した。
本発明の一側面は、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上する方法であって、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させる、方法である。
この方法では、冷凍機油中に酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上残存するように、冷凍機に冷凍機油を充填する際の酸捕捉剤の含有量を設定してよく、冷凍機油中に酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上残存するように、冷凍機に充填された冷凍機油に対して酸捕捉剤を補充してよい。
本発明の他の一側面は、酸捕捉剤の耐燃焼性向上剤としての使用であって、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させることにより、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる、使用である。
本発明の他の一側面は、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる耐燃焼性向上剤であって、酸捕捉剤を含有する、耐燃焼性向上剤である。
上記の各側面において、冷媒は、可燃性冷媒を含んでよい。冷媒は、強燃性冷媒を含んでよい。冷媒は、微燃性冷媒を含んでよい。
本発明によれば、冷凍機のポンプダウン時に誤って空気が混入した場合であっても、作動流体の燃焼リスクを低減することができる。より具体的には、冷凍機に充填される冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体について、空気共存下、高温、高圧の自己着火・燃焼条件における燃焼範囲及びその最大圧力を小さくできる。すなわち、当該作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させることができるので、冷凍機のポンプダウン時に誤って空気が混入した場合であっても、当該作動流体の燃焼・爆発による事故発生のリスクを著しく低減することができる。
以下、本発明の実施形態について詳細に説明する。本発明の一実施形態は、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる方法である。本発明の他の一実施形態は、酸捕捉剤の耐燃焼性向上剤としての使用(応用)であって、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる、使用(応用)であるともいえる。本発明の他の一実施形態は、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる耐燃焼性向上剤であって、酸捕捉剤を含有する、耐燃焼性向上剤であるともいえる。
上記の方法は、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させる工程を備える。上記の使用では、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させる。上記の耐燃焼性向上剤は、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の量で含有させることができる。上記の方法、使用、及び耐燃焼性向上剤は、作動流体が、空気共存下、高温、高圧の自己着火・燃焼条件に晒される場合において効果的であり、また、冷凍機のポンプダウン時において、特に効果的である。
なお、上記の作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる方法は、例えば、作動流体の難燃性を向上させる方法、作動流体の燃焼を抑制する方法、作動流体の燃焼範囲を狭める方法、作動流体の燃焼による最大圧力(危害度)を低減する方法、作動流体の燃焼・爆発による事故発生リスクを低減する方法等、別の表現で言い換えてもよい。
上記の耐燃焼性向上剤としての使用(応用)は、例えば、作動流体の難燃性を向上させる剤(難燃性向上剤)としての使用(応用)、作動流体の燃焼を抑制する剤(燃焼抑制剤)としての使用(応用)、作動流体の燃焼範囲を狭める剤としての使用、作動流体の燃焼による最大圧力(危害度)を低減する剤(最大圧力低減剤、危害度低減剤)としての使用(応用)、作動流体の燃焼・爆発による事故発生リスクを低減する剤(事故発生リスク低減剤)としての使用(応用)等、別の表現で言い換えてもよい。
上記の耐燃焼性向上剤は、例えば、作動流体の難燃性を向上させる剤(難燃性向上剤)、作動流体の燃焼を抑制する剤(燃焼抑制剤)、作動流体の燃焼範囲を狭める剤、作動流体の燃焼による最大圧力(危害度)を低減する剤(最大圧力低減剤、危害度低減剤)、作動流体の燃焼・爆発による事故発生リスクを低減する剤(事故発生リスク低減剤)等、別の表現で言い換えてもよい。
また、本発明の一実施形態は、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体であって、冷凍機油に、冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させることで、(ポンプダウン時における)耐燃焼性が向上された作動流体に関する。この作動流体は、空気共存下、高温、高圧の自己着火・燃焼条件に晒される場合において効果的なものであり、また、冷凍機のポンプダウン時において、特に効果的なものである。この耐燃焼性が向上された作動流体は、例えば、難燃性が向上された作動流体、燃焼範囲が狭められた作動流体、燃焼による最大圧力(危害度)が低減された作動流体、燃焼・爆発による事故発生リスクが低減された作動流体等、別の表現で言い換えてもよい。
以下、本発明の実施形態についてより詳細に説明するが、以下で説明する事項は、特に断らない限り、上述した方法、使用、及び耐燃焼性向上剤のいずれの実施形態にも共通する事項である。
図1は、冷凍機の一実施形態を示す模式図である。図1に示すように、冷凍機10は、圧縮機(冷媒圧縮機)1と、凝縮器(ガスクーラー)2と、膨張機構3(キャピラリ、膨張弁等)と、蒸発器(熱交換器)4とが流路5で順次接続された冷媒循環システム6を少なくとも備えている。冷凍機10(冷媒循環システム6)には、冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填されている。冷媒循環システム6は、液体状の冷媒が直接圧縮機1内に流入することを抑制・防止するために、蒸発器4と圧縮機1の間(圧縮機1の側面)にアキュムレータ7を更に有していてよい。
このような冷凍機10としては、例えば、自動車用エアコン、除湿器、冷蔵庫、冷凍冷蔵倉庫、自動販売機、ショーケース、化学プラント等における冷却装置、住宅用エアコンディショナー、パッケージエアコンディショナー、及び給湯用ヒートポンプが挙げられる。
冷媒循環システム6においては、まず、圧縮機1から流路5内に吐出された高温(通常70~120℃)の冷媒が、凝縮器2にて高密度の流体(超臨界流体等)となる。続いて、冷媒は、膨張機構3が有する狭い流路を通ることによって液化し、さらに蒸発器4にて気化して低温(通常-40~0℃)となる。冷凍機10による冷房は、冷媒が蒸発器4において気化する際に周囲から熱を奪う現象を利用している。
圧縮機1内においては、高温(通常70~120℃)条件下で、少量の冷媒と多量の冷凍機油とが共存する。圧縮機1から流路5に吐出される冷媒は、気体状であり、少量(通常1~10体積%)の冷凍機油をミストとして含んでいるが、このミスト状の冷凍機油中には少量の冷媒が溶解している(図1中の点a)。
凝縮器2内においては、気体状の冷媒が圧縮されて高密度の流体となり、比較的高温(通常40~80℃)条件下で、多量の冷媒と少量の冷凍機油とが共存する(図1中の点b)。さらに、多量の冷媒と少量の冷凍機油との混合物は、膨張機構3、蒸発器4に順次送られて急激に低温(通常-40~0℃)となり(図1中の点c,d)、再び圧縮機1に戻される。
冷凍機油は、基油を含有する。基油は、鉱油及び合成油から選ばれる少なくとも1種を含んでよい。
鉱油は、パラフィン系、ナフテン系などの原油を常圧蒸留及び減圧蒸留して得られた潤滑油留分を、溶剤脱れき、溶剤精製、水素化精製、水素化分解、溶剤脱ろう、水素化脱ろう、白土処理、硫酸洗浄などの方法で精製することによって得られるパラフィン系又はナフテン系の鉱油であってよい。これらの精製方法は、1種若しくは2種以上を適宜組み合わせて用いてもよい。
合成油は、例えば、合成系炭化水素油、含酸素油等であってよく、好ましくは含酸素油である。含酸素油としては、エステル、ポリビニルエーテル、ポリアルキレングリコール、カーボネート、ケトン、ポリフェニルエーテル、シリコーン、ポリシロキサン、パーフルオロエーテルが例示される。基油は、好ましくはエステルを含む。
エステルとしては、芳香族エステル、二塩基酸エステル、ポリオールエステル、コンプレックスエステル、炭酸エステル及びこれらの混合物などが例示される。エステルは、好ましくはポリオールエステルである。
ポリオールエステルは、多価アルコールと脂肪酸とのエステルである。脂肪酸は、直鎖状であっても分岐状であってもよい。脂肪酸は、好ましくは飽和脂肪酸である。脂肪酸の炭素数は、好ましくは4以上、より好ましくは5以上であり、好ましくは20以下、より好ましくは18以下、更に好ましくは9以下である。脂肪酸は、好ましくは、α位及び/又はβ位に分岐を有する脂肪酸を含み、より好ましくは、2-エチルヘキサン酸及び3,5,5-トリメチルヘキサン酸の一方又は両方を含む。
ポリオールエステルを構成する多価アルコールは、好ましくは2~6個の水酸基を有する多価アルコールである。多価アルコールの炭素数は、好ましくは4以上、より好ましくは5以上であり、好ましくは12以下、より好ましくは10以下である。多価アルコールは、好ましくは、ネオペンチルグリコール、トリメチロールエタン、トリメチロールプロパン、トリメチロールブタン、ジ-(トリメチロールプロパン)、トリ-(トリメチロールプロパン)、ペンタエリスリトール、ジペンタエリスリトール等のヒンダードアルコールであり、冷媒との相溶性及び加水分解安定性に特に優れることから、より好ましくはペンタエリスリトールである。
基油の40℃における動粘度は、好ましくは1mm2/s以上、より好ましくは、2mm2/s以上、3mm2/s以上、又は4mm2/s以上であってよく、好ましくは500mm2/s以下、より好ましくは400mm2/s以下であってよい。基油の100℃における動粘度は、好ましくは1mm2/s以上、より好ましくは2mm2/s以上であってよく、好ましくは50mm2/s以下、より好ましくは30mm2/s以下であってよい。基油の粘度指数は、好ましくは-50以上、より好ましくは-40以上、更に好ましくは-30以上であってよく、好ましくは300以下、より好ましくは120以下、更に好ましくは115以下、特に好ましくは110以下であってよい。本明細書における動粘度及び粘度指数は、JIS K2283:2000に準拠して測定される値を意味する。
基油の含有量は、冷凍機油全量基準で、好ましくは80質量%以上、より好ましくは90質量%以上、更に好ましくは95質量%以上である。
冷凍機油には、基油に加えて、酸捕捉剤を含有させる。酸捕捉剤を冷凍機油に含有させる方法は、例えば、冷凍機油に酸捕捉剤を直接添加して溶解又は分散させる方法や、酸捕捉剤を溶解できる溶剤に酸捕捉剤を溶解させて予め濃縮溶液を作製しておき、当該濃縮溶液を冷凍機油に添加する方法等が挙げられる。
酸捕捉剤としては、エポキシ系酸捕捉剤(エポキシ化合物)、カルボジイミド系酸捕捉剤(カルボジイミド化合物)等が挙げられる。エポキシ化合物及びカルボジイミド化合物はともに、水分、脂肪酸、酸化劣化物などと反応し、これらの物質が冷媒や潤滑油の劣化促進などの原因となることを防ぐ作用を持つ。エポキシ化合物は、水分、脂肪酸、又は酸化劣化物と比較的ゆっくり反応し、カルボジイミド化合物は、水分、脂肪酸、又は酸化劣化物と速く反応する。
エポキシ化合物については、冷媒及び冷凍機油の混合物の発火、燃焼の極初期段階に発生する活性種(炭化水素ラジカル、過酸化物ラジカル、カルボン酸、冷媒劣化物)等との反応し、これらを無害化することが実験的に確認された。具体的には、冷媒及び冷凍機油の混合物の燃焼実験後の回収油分析(性状分析、元素分析、ガスクロマトグラフィー、NMR)によって、エポキシの開環化合物及びエポキシ化合物と活性種との反応物が確認された。
カルボジイミド化合物については、下記式(1)、(2)又は(3)のような反応機構によって、冷媒及び冷凍機油の混合物の発火、燃焼の極初期段階における活性種が迅速に無害化される。
このような反応機構は、フェノール系酸化防止剤とは異なる反応機構であり、空気共存下、高温、高圧の自己着火・燃焼条件において、酸捕捉剤による燃焼性及び危害度の低減効果が著しく高い。すなわち、酸捕捉剤は、空気共存下、高温、高圧の自己着火・燃焼条件における耐燃焼性向上剤として使用されうる。したがって、本発明者らによる機構解明によって、ポンプダウン時の事故が著しく低減されることが期待される。
さらに、エポキシ化合物及びカルボジイミド化合物を併用すると、上記作用が相乗して得られる。また、エポキシ化合物及びカルボジイミド化合物とともに、連鎖停止型酸化防止剤(例えば、ジ-tert-ブチル-p-クレゾール等のフェノール系酸化防止剤、又はアミン系酸化防止剤)や各種過酸化物分解剤を添加すると、上記作用効果が増大して得られるため、エポキシ化合物及びカルボジイミド化合物それぞれの添加量を減じることもできる。
エポキシ系酸捕捉剤としては、例えば、グリシジルエステル型エポキシ化合物、グリシジルエーテル型エポキシ化合物、オキシラン化合物、アルキルオキシラン化合物、脂環式エポキシ化合物、エポキシ化脂肪酸モノエステル、及びエポキシ化植物油等のエポキシ基構造を有する各種化合物が挙げられる。
グリシジルエステル型エポキシ化合物としては、炭素数5~18の炭化水素基(アリール基、アルキル基、又はアルケニル基)を有するエポキシ化合物、より具体的には、グリシジルベンゾエート、グリシジルネオデカノエート、グリシジル-2,2-ジメチルオクタノエート、グリシジルアクリレート、又はグリシジルメタクリレートが好ましい。
グリシジルエーテル型エポキシ化合物としては、炭素数5~18の炭化水素基(アリール基又はアルキル基)を有するエポキシ化合物、より具体的には、n-ブチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、i-ブチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、sec-ブチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、tert-ブチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、ペンチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、ヘキシルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、ヘプチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、オクチルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、ノニルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、デシルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、デシルグリシジルエーテル、ウンデシルグリシジルエーテル、ドデシルグリシジルエーテル、トリデシルグリシジルエーテル、テトラデシルグリシジルエーテル、又は2-エチルヘキシルグリシジルエーテルが好ましい。また、グリシジルエーテル型エポキシ化合物は、ネオペンチルグリコールジグリシジルエーテル、トリメチロルプロパントリグリシジルエーテル、ペンタエリスリトールテトラグリシジルエーテル、1,6-ヘキサンジオールジグリシジルエーテル、ソルビトールポリグリシジルエーテル、ポリアルキレングリコールモノグリシジルエーテル、ポリアルキレングリコールジグリシジルエーテルなどであってもよい。
オキシラン化合物としては、炭素数2~60の炭化水素基を有するオキシラン化合物、例えば、炭素数2~18の直鎖若しくは分岐状のアルキル基を有するアルキルオキシラン化合物や炭素数6~60の(アルキル)アリールオキシラン化合物を挙げることができる。アルキルオキシラン化合物としては、より具体的には、1,2-エポキシブタン、1,2-エポキシペンタン、1,2-エポキシヘキサン、1,2-エポキシヘプタン、1,2-エポキシオクタン、1,2-エポキシノナン、1,2-エポキシデカン、1,2-エポキシウンデカン、1,2-エポキシドデカン、1,2-エポキシトリデカン、1,2-エポキシテトラデカン、1,2-エポキシペンタデカン、1,2-エポキシヘキサデカン、1,2-エポキシヘプタデカン、1,2-エポキシオクタデカン、1,2-エポキシノナデカン、1,2-エポキシイコサンなどが挙げられる。(アルキル)アリールオキシラン化合物としては、より具体的には、スチレンオキシド、アルキル-スチレンオキシドなどが挙げられる。
脂環式エポキシ化合物としては、エポキシ基を構成する炭素原子が直接脂環式環を構成している部分構造を有する化合物が挙げられる。脂環式エポキシ化合物は、当該部分構造を1つ有していてもよく、2つ以上有していてもよい。脂環式エポキシ化合物としては、より具体的には、1,2-エポキシシクロヘキサン、1,2-エポキシシクロペンタン、3’,4’-エポキシシクロヘキシルメチル-3,4-エポキシシクロヘキサンカルボキシレート、ビス(3,4-エポキシシクロヘキシルメチル)アジペート、エキソ-2,3-エポキシノルボルナン、ビス(3,4-エポキシ-6-メチルシクロヘキシルメチル)アジペート、2-(7-オキサビシクロ[4.1.0]ヘプト-3-イル)-スピロ(1,3-ジオキサン-5,3’-[7]オキサビシクロ[4.1.0]ヘプタン、4-(1’-メチルエポキシエチル)-1,2-エポキシ-2-メチルシクロヘキサン、4-エポキシエチル-1,2-エポキシシクロヘキサンなどが挙げられる。
カルボジイミド化合物としては、炭素数1~12の直鎖状又は分岐状の脂肪族炭化水素基を有するモノ又はジアルキルカルボジイミド、炭素数6~18の芳香族炭化水素基を有するモノ又はジ((アルキル)アリール)カルボジイミドを挙げることができ、炭素数1~10、好ましくは2~4のアルキル基を有する、ジアルキルカルボジイミド、ジアルキルフェニルカルボジイミドが好ましい。より具体的には、ジイソプロピルカルボジイミド、ビス(イソプロピルフェニル)カルボジイミド、ビス(ジイソプロピルフェニル)カルボジイミド、ビス(トリイソプロピルフェニル)カルボジイミドが好ましい例として挙げられる。
酸捕捉剤の含有量は、冷凍機油全量基準で、0.1質量%以上、0.5質量%以上、又は1質量%以上であってよく、10質量%以下、7質量%以下、又は5質量%以下であってよい。この酸捕捉剤の含有量は、任意の時点(例えば、冷凍機油を冷凍機に充填した時点、冷凍機のポンプダウン時点、冷凍機に充填された冷凍機油に対して酸捕捉剤を補充した時点など)における酸捕捉剤の含有量であってよい。
冷凍機油は、酸捕捉剤以外の添加剤を更に含んでいてもよい。当該添加剤としては、酸化防止剤、摩耗防止剤、極圧剤、油性剤、消泡剤、金属不活性化剤、粘度指数向上剤、流動点降下剤、清浄分散剤等が挙げられる。これらの添加剤は、1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
冷凍機油の40℃における動粘度は、好ましくは1mm2/s以上、より好ましくは、2mm2/s以上、3mm2/s以上、又は4mm2/s以上であってよく、好ましくは500mm2/s以下、より好ましくは400mm2/s以下であってよい。冷凍機油の100℃における動粘度は、好ましくは1mm2/s以上、より好ましくは2mm2/s以上であってよく、好ましくは50mm2/s以下、より好ましくは30mm2/s以下であってよい。冷凍機油の粘度指数は、好ましくは-50以上、より好ましくは-40以上、更に好ましくは-30以上であってよく、好ましくは300以下、より好ましくは120以下、更に好ましくは115以下、特に好ましくは110以下であってよい。
冷媒は、可燃性冷媒を含んでいてよく、不燃性冷媒を含んでいてもよい。本実施形態によれば、冷媒が可燃性冷媒を含む場合であっても、作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させることができる。可燃性冷媒は、微燃性冷媒、弱燃性冷媒及び強燃性冷媒からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも一種であってよい。不燃性冷媒、微燃性冷媒、弱燃性冷媒、及び強燃性冷媒は、ISO 817:2014における冷媒の安全等級の基準において、燃焼性区分として、それぞれ、Class1(不燃性冷媒)、Class2L(微燃性冷媒)、Class2(弱燃性冷媒)、及びClass3(強燃性冷媒)に含まれる冷媒を意味する。
不燃性冷媒としては、トリクロロフルオロメタン(R11)、ジクロロジフルオロメタン(R12)、クロロジフルオロメタン(R22)、2,2-ジクロロ-1,1,1-トリフルオロエタン(R123)、1,1,1,2-テトラフルオロエタン(R134a)、ジフルオロメタンとペンタフルオロエタンとの共沸混合物(R410a)、1,1,1,3,3-ペンタフルオロプロパン(R245fa)、1-クロロ-3,3,3-トリフルオロプロペン(R1233zd)、HFCとHFOの混合物(R513A)、二酸化炭素(CO2)等が例示される。
微燃性冷媒としては、ジフルオロメタン(R32)、2,3,3,3-テトラフルオロプロペン(R1234yf)、1,3,3,3-テトラフルオロプロペン(R1234ze)、アンモニア(R717)等が例示される。
弱燃性冷媒としては、1-クロロ-1,1-ジフルオロエタン(R142b)、1,1-ジフルオロエタン(R152a)等が例示される。
強燃性冷媒としては、プロパン(R290)、イソブタン(R600a)等が例示される。
以上説明した実施形態では、上述した冷凍機10において、冷媒を回収するなどの目的で、圧縮機1を運転して冷媒ガスを集めるポンプダウンを行う際に、作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させることができる。作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上できることは、後述する実施例における燃焼試験にて、冷凍機油と冷媒と空気との混合雰囲気下、図3に例示するように、圧縮機内の最大圧力が低い(危害度が低い)こと、及び作動流体の燃焼範囲が狭い(燃焼の発生確率が低い)ことにより確認できる。
本実施形態によれば、酸捕捉剤を冷凍機油に含有させることにより、作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させることができ、ひいては、例えば空気が混入するような誤った操作によってポンプダウンを行った場合であっても、作動流体の爆発(ディーゼル爆発)の発生リスクを著しく低減することができる。
一実施形態では、ポンプダウン時における冷凍機油中に酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上(好ましくは0.5質量%以上又は1質量%以上)残存するように、冷凍機に冷凍機油を充填する際の酸捕捉剤の含有量を設定することができる。例えば、冷凍機の寿命が10年と想定する場合、事前に10年の運転を想定した加速試験を行い、酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以下まで消耗消失するまでの期間が10年以上となるよう酸捕捉剤含有量を決め、冷凍機油に予め配合して使用することが挙げられる。より具体的には、冷凍機油の推奨交換時期(10~20年)に酸捕捉剤が消失してなくなる量をX質量%(0.1~10質量%)とすると、冷凍機油への酸捕捉剤の初期配合量を1.1X質量%以上に設定すればよい。
一実施形態では、ポンプダウン時における冷凍機油中に酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上(好ましくは0.5質量%以上又は1質量%以上)残存するように、冷凍機に充填された冷凍機油に対して酸捕捉剤を補充してもよい。また、冷凍機油又は作動流体中の酸捕捉剤が消失しにくいように、冷凍機油又は作動流体の劣化による酸の発生を抑制しうる添加剤配合(酸化防止剤、摩耗防止剤その他の添加剤)を調整してもよい。
以下、実施例に基づいて本発明を更に具体的に説明するが、本発明は実施例に限定されるものではない。
基油として、ペンタエリスリトールと、2-エチルヘキサン酸/3,5,5-トリメチルヘキサン酸(モル比:50/50)とのポリオールエステル(40℃における動粘度:68mm2/s、100℃における動粘度:8.3mm2/s、粘度指数:88)を準備した。
[実施例1及び2]
実施例1及び2では、上記基油に加えて、冷凍機油全量基準でそれぞれ1質量%及び5質量%の酸捕捉剤A(グリシジル2,2-ジメチルオクタノエート)を含有させて、冷凍機油を調製した。
実施例1及び2では、上記基油に加えて、冷凍機油全量基準でそれぞれ1質量%及び5質量%の酸捕捉剤A(グリシジル2,2-ジメチルオクタノエート)を含有させて、冷凍機油を調製した。

実施例3では、上記基油に加えて、冷凍機油全量基準で1質量%の酸捕捉剤B(3’,4’-エポキシシクロヘキシルメチル-3,4-エポキシシクロヘキサンカルボキシレート)を含有させて、冷凍機油を調製した。

比較例1では、上記基油のみからなる冷凍機油(酸捕捉剤を含有しない冷凍機油)を調製した。

[比較例2及び3]
比較例2及び3では、上記基油に加えて、冷凍機油全量基準でそれぞれ1質量%及び5質量%の酸化防止剤(ジ-tert.-ブチル-p-クレゾール)を冷凍機油に含有させて、冷凍機油を調製した。

<燃焼試験>
図2は、燃焼試験に用いた燃焼試験装置の概略図である。図2に示すように、燃焼試験装置21は、ポンプダウン時における冷媒配管と圧縮機への空気の混入、及び冷媒、空気、冷凍機油混合気の断熱圧縮を再現する。燃焼試験装置21は主に、冷媒供給部22、空気供給部23、油供給部24、温度制御部25及び圧縮機(模型エンジン)26から構成されている。
図2は、燃焼試験に用いた燃焼試験装置の概略図である。図2に示すように、燃焼試験装置21は、ポンプダウン時における冷媒配管と圧縮機への空気の混入、及び冷媒、空気、冷凍機油混合気の断熱圧縮を再現する。燃焼試験装置21は主に、冷媒供給部22、空気供給部23、油供給部24、温度制御部25及び圧縮機(模型エンジン)26から構成されている。
冷媒は、冷媒供給部22から供給された後、マスフローコントローラ27(フジキン製;FCST1050LC-4F2-F50L-N2、精度±2%F.S.)で流量を制御されて温度制御部25に供給される。空気は、空気供給部23から供給された後、除湿機28で除湿され、マスフローコントローラ29(コフロック製;MODEL8550MC-0-1-1)で流量を制御されて温度制御部25に供給される。温度制御部25で混合された冷媒及び空気は、所定の温度(260℃)で圧縮機26に供給されるように加熱された後、圧縮機26に供給される。
冷凍機油は、油供給部24から供給された後、圧縮装置30で150MPaまで加圧され、オイル噴霧システム31(FCデザイン製;コモンレールオイル噴霧システム)によって圧縮機26の吸気口直前で上記冷媒及び空気の混合物に噴霧される。
上記で得られた冷媒、空気及び冷凍機油の混合気は、圧縮機36(ENYA製;R155-4C,4ストロークエンジン、行程容積25.42cc、圧縮比16.0)に供給され、圧縮機36に接続されたモータ32で駆動することで圧縮される。圧縮機内圧力は、圧力計(Kistler製;6045A、直線性±0.4%F.S.O)を用いて測定する。また、モータ32は、エンコーダ33により、回転速度及びクランク角を制御することができる。
表1に示す実施例及び比較例の各冷凍機油及び各冷媒を用い、上述の燃焼試験装置を用いて、冷媒及び空気の総量に対する冷媒濃度(体積%)及び冷凍機油当量比(当量比:完全燃焼に必要な油流量に対する実際に供給される油流量の比)を種々変化させたときの圧縮機内圧力を測定した。冷媒としては、プロパン(R290)、ジフルオロメタン(R32)、及び2,3,3,3-テトラフルオロプロペン(R1234yf)のそれぞれを用いた。測定結果に基づいて、横軸に上記冷媒濃度(体積%)を示し、縦軸に圧縮機内最大圧力(冷媒を用いないブランク試験における圧縮機内最大圧力で除して無次元化した圧力)を示すグラフ上にプロットした。一例として、R290を用いたときの実施例1、比較例1及び比較例2のプロットを図3に示す。そして、当該プロットから、燃焼範囲(圧縮機内圧力の増加が認められる冷媒の最大濃度:体積%)及び最大圧力(各プロットの中での圧力最大値:無次元)を読み取った。結果を表1に示す。
表1及び図3に示されるように、酸捕捉剤を含有させた冷凍機油は、酸捕捉剤を含有させていない冷凍機油及び酸化防止剤を含有させた冷凍機油と比較して、燃焼範囲(燃焼の発生確率)及び圧縮機内の最大圧力(発生圧力(危害度))を著しく低減することができた。図3のプロットで囲まれる面積が著しく狭まっていることからも、その効果の大きさがよく理解できる。したがって、酸捕捉剤を含有させた冷凍機油は、冷凍機のポンプダウン時に誤って空気が混入した場合であっても、作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させることができ、ひいては、作動流体の燃焼・爆発(ディーゼル爆発)の発生リスクを著しく低減することができる。

- 冷凍機油及び冷媒を含有する作動流体が充填された冷凍機における前記作動流体の耐燃焼性を向上させる方法であって、
前記冷凍機油に、前記冷凍機油全量基準で0.1質量%以上10質量%以下の酸捕捉剤を含有させる、方法。 - 前記冷凍機油中に前記酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上残存するように、前記冷凍機に前記冷凍機油を充填する際の前記酸捕捉剤の含有量を設定する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記冷凍機油中に前記酸捕捉剤が0.1質量%以上残存するように、前記冷凍機に充填された前記冷凍機油に対して前記酸捕捉剤を補充する、請求項1に記載の方法。
