Abstract
본 발명은, 기재 필름 없이도, 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 동시에 만족하도록 구현하면서, 특히 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 필름의 손상이 거의 없어 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있는 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우 및 이를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.

본 출원은 2021년 10월 8일자 한국특허출원 제10-2021-0134122호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원들의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우, 이를 포함하는 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC와 같은 모바일 기기의 발전과 함께 디스플레이용 기재의 박막화 및 슬림화가 요구되고 있다. 이러한 모바일 기기의 디스플레이용 커버윈도우에는 기계적 특성이 우수한 소재로 유리 또는 강화 유리가 일반적으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나, 유리 및 강화 유리는 자체 무게가 무거워 모바일 기기의 고중량화를 초래하고, 또 외부 충격에 의해 쉽게 파손이 되는 문제가 있으며, 유연성이 낮아 플렉서블 또는 폴더블 디스플레이 기기에 적용하기에는 한계가 있다.
이와 같은 유리를 대체하기 위한 소재로 플라스틱 수지를 이용한 커버 윈도우가 연구되고 있다. 플라스틱 수지는 경량이면서도 깨질 우려가 적고, 유연성을 가져 모바일 기기의 경량화 및 유연화에 보다 적합하다. 대표적으로 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET), 폴리에테르설폰(PES), 폴리에틸렌나프탈레이트(PEN), 폴리아크릴레이트(PAR), 폴리카보네이트(PC), 폴리이미드(PI), 폴리아마이드이미드(PAI) 등이 사용되고 있지만, 이들 플라스틱 수지를 이용한 기판의 경우 경도 및 내스크래치성이 유리 소재에 비해 부족한 문제가 있다. 이에 따라 플라스틱 수지 기판에 수지 조성물을 코팅하여 하드 코팅층을 형성함으로써 고경도 및 내마모성을 보완하고자 하는 방법들이 시도되고 있다.
그러나, 플라스틱 수지 기판 또는 기재 상면에 하드코팅층이 포함된 커버윈도우는 기재와 코팅층 사이의 계면 부착력을 높이면서, 두 층 간의 물리적 특성 차이를 최소화하는데 많은 어려움이 있다. 또한 기재 사용으로 인해 커버윈도우의 박막화를 구현하는데 제한적이고, 플라스틱 수지 기판의 사용으로 인하여 광학시트의 가격이 상승되는 단점이 있었다.
본 발명은, 지지 기재를 포함하지 않아 코팅층과 계면 사이의 박리 문제가 발생하지 않으면서도, 고경도 및 유연성이 우수하여, 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 손상이 거의 없어 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있는 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우를 제공한다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 커버 윈도우를 포함한 디스플레이 장치 및 이의 제조방법을 제공한다.

이하 발명의 구체적인 구현예에 따른 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우, 이를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조방법에 관하여 보다 상세하게 설명하기로 한다.
본 명세서에서, "플렉시블(flexible)" 이란, 직경이 5 mm의 원통형 만드렐(mandrel)에 감았을 때 길이 3 mm 이상의 크랙(crack)이 발생하지 않는 정도의 유연성을 갖는 상태를 의미하며, 따라서 본 발명의 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치는 벤더블(bendable), 플렉시블(flexible), 롤러블(rollable), 또는 폴더블(foldable) 디스플레이 장치를 의미할 수 있다.
다만, 이는 발명의 하나의 예시로서 제시되는 것으로, 이에 의해 발명의 권리 범위가 한정되는 것은 아니며, 발명의 권리 범위 내에서 구현예에 대한 다양한 변형이 가능함은 당업자에게 자명하다.
본 명세서에서 명시적인 언급이 없는 한, 전문용어는 단지 특정 실시예를 언급하기 위한 것이며, 본 발명을 한정하는 것을 의도하지 않는다.

본 명세서에서, 중량 평균 분자량은 GPC법에 의해 측정한 폴리스티렌 환산의 중량 평균 분자량을 의미한다. 상기 GPC법에 의해 측정한 폴리스티렌 환산의 중량 평균 분자량을 측정하는 과정에서는, 통상적으로 알려진 분석 장치와 시차 굴절 검출기(Refractive Index Detector) 등의 검출기 및 분석용 컬럼을 사용할 수 있으며, 통상적으로 적용되는 온도 조건, 용매, flow rate를 적용할 수 있다. 상기 측정 조건의 구체적인 예를 들면, Waters 2695 기기를 이용하여, 평가 온도는 40 ℃이며, THF 용매로서 사용하였으며 유속은 1 mL/min의 속도로 측정하였다.
또한, 본 명세서에서 "치환 또는 비치환된" 이라는 용어는 중수소; 할로겐기; 니트릴기; 니트로기; 히드록시기; 카보닐기; 에스테르기; 이미드기; 아미노기; 포스핀옥사이드기; 알콕시기; 아릴옥시기; 알킬티옥시기; 아릴티옥시기; 알킬술폭시기; 아릴술폭시기; 실릴기; 붕소기; 알킬기; 사이클로알킬기; 알케닐기; 아릴기; 아르알킬기; 아르알케닐기; 알킬아릴기; 알킬아민기; 아랄킬아민기; 헤테로아릴아민기; 아릴아민기; 아릴포스핀기; 또는 N, O 및 S 원자 중 1개 이상을 포함하는 헤테로고리기로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1개 이상의 치환기로 치환 또는 비치환되거나, 상기 예시된 치환기 중 2 이상의 치환기가 연결된 치환 또는 비치환된 것을 의미한다. 예컨대, "2 이상의 치환기가 연결된 치환기"는 비페닐기일 수 있다. 즉, 비페닐기는 아릴기일 수도 있고, 2개의 페닐기가 연결된 치환기로 해석될 수 있다.
발명의 일 구현예에 따르면, 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진, 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우를 제공될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 디스플레이 장치는 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치일 수 있다.
본 발명자들은 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우에 관한 연구를 진행하여, 커버윈도우가 무-기재(substrate less) 타입이고, 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어지고, 이러한 유무기 경화층의 두께가 50 ㎛ 이상 700 ㎛ 미만인 경우, 박막화를 용이하게 달성 가능하면서도 가격 경쟁력이 향상되고, 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 동시에 만족하도록 구현할 수 있음을 확인하고 발명을 확인하였다.
또한, 상기 커버윈도우는 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 필름의 손상이 거의 없어, 구체적으로, 유무기 경화층 중간에 8 mm의 간격을 두고 상기 유무기 경화층이 마주 보도록 90° 각도로 접었다 폈다를 상온에서 1초당 1회의 속도로 20만회 반복 수행시 1 mm 이상의 크랙이 발생하지 않을 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 무-기재 타입의 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우는 이를 이용한 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있다.
상기 무-기재(substrate less)의 기재(substrate)란, 유무기 경화층을 형성하기 위한 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물을 도포하는 지지 수단이 되고, 상기 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물의 경화 후에도 박리하지 않은 상태로 계속 남겨두는 지지 기재(support substrate)을 의미하며, 따라서, 상기 무-기재란, 이러한 지지 기재를 포함하지 않는 것을 의미한다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우는 통상의 커버윈도우와는 달리 무-기재 타입이며, 즉, 유무기 경화층의 지지 수단이 되고 경화 후에도 박리하지 않는, 플라스틱 수지 필름과 같은 지지 기재를 포함하지 않는다. 따라서, 상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우는 기재가 없는(substrate-less) 형태의 필름이다.
상기 커버윈도우는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 무-기재 타입의 필름이나, 상기 유무기 경화층은 단일층이거나, 복수의 층으로 이루어질 수 있다. 또한, 상기 유무기 경화층 상에 다른 막, 층 또는 필름이 부착 또는 코팅 될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 커버윈도우는 지지 기재를 포함하지 않음으로 인해, 유무기 경화층의 경화 과정에서 기재 수축의 영향을 받지 않아 컬(curl)이나 크랙이 발생할 염려가 없으며, 기재와의 계면에서 발생할 수 있는 박리 문제가 없다.
또한, 상기 커버윈도우는 지지 기재를 포함하지 않음에도, 고경도 및 유연성이 우수하여, 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 손상이 거의 없어 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우는, 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어질 수 있다.
상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산은 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 폴리실록산은 다양한 구조를 가질 수 있으며, 예를 들어 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위, 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위, 임의형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위의 구조를 가질 수 있다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우가 구조가 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함함에 따라, 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 포함하거나, 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 임의형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 포함하거나, 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 임의형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위, 또는 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위, 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위, 임의형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 모두 포함할 수 있다.
보다 구체적으로, 상기 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리실록산은 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 구현예의 커버윈도우에서 유무기 경화층이 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 모두 포함함에 따라, 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 또는 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위의 1종의 폴리실록산 반복단위만을 포함하는 경우와 비교하여 상대적으로 분자량이 작은 케이지형이 경화밀도를 올려 경도를 증가시키고, 선형의 사다리형 폴리실록산이 경화 네트워크 형성 시 넓게 분포하여 유연성 및 인장 (toughness)을 올려주는 효과로 상기 커버윈도우가 높은 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 나타낼 수 있다.
또한, 상기 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위에 대한 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위의 몰비는 1.2 이상 2.5 이하, 1.2 이상 2.0 이하, 1.2 이상 1.8 이하, 또는 1.4 이상 1.8 이하일 수 있다. 상기 몰비가 1.2 내지 2.5임에 따라, 케이지와 사다리형이 조화롭게 조성물을 형성할 수 있게 하여 상기 커버윈도우가 높은 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 나타낼 수 있다. 구체적으로, 케이지 형태의 폴리실세스퀴옥산 구조는 경화 밀도를 올릴 수 있어 고경도 구현이 가능하게 하고, 사다리형 형태의 폴리실세스퀴옥산 구조는 유연한 분자 구조를 통해 경화막의 유연성을 향상시킴에 따라, 케이지형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위 및 사다리형 폴리실세스퀴옥산 반복단위를 상기 특정 비율로 포함함에 따라, 높은 유연성 및 고경도의 물성을 동시에 구현할 수 있다.
상기 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리실록산에 대한 감쇠 전반사(ATR; Attenuated Total Reflection)법으로 측정된 FT-IR (Fourier Transform-Infra Red) 스펙트럼에서, 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 갖고, 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 가질 수 있다.
예를 들어, 상기 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서, 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1, 1030 cm-1 내지 1065 cm-1 또는 1040 cm-1 내지 1060 cm-1 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 나타낼 수 있고, 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1, 1080 cm-1 내지 1110 cm-1 또는 1090 cm-1 내지 1100 cm-1 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 나타낼 수 있다.
상기 FT-IR스펙트럼에서 상이한 영역에 각각 피크를 가짐에 따라, 상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산이 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함할 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1 영역에서는 2개 이상의 피크를 나타내거나, 1개의 피크만을 나타낼 수 있으며, 상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1 영역에서 나타나는 피크는 상기 사다리형 폴리실록산 및/또는 랜덤형 폴리실록산에 관한 피크일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1 영역에서는 2개 이상의 피크를 나타내거나, 1개의 피크만을 나타낼 수 있으며, 상기 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1 영역에서 나타나는 피크는 상기 케이지형 폴리실록산에 관한 피크일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I1) 대비 상기 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I2)의 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은 1.2 이상 2.5 이하, 1.2 이상 2.0 이하, 1.2 이상 1.8 이하, 또는 1.4 이상 1.8 이하일 수 있다.
상기 피크의 강도(I1)는 상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 2개 이상의 피크가 나타나는 경우 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도를 의미하고, 1개의 피크가 나타나는 경우 해당 피크의 강도를 의미한다. 또한, 상기 피크의 강도(I2)는 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 2개 이상의 피크가 나타나는 경우 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도를 의미하고, 1개의 피크가 나타나는 경우 해당 피크의 강도를 의미한다.
상기 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은, 경화 공정을 거치기 전 미경화 상태 또는 경화 후 고상의 폴리실록산을 시료로 하여, ATR법으로 FT-IR스펙트럼에서 측정될 수 있다.
상기 피크 세기 비율(I2/I1)이 1.2 내지 2.5임에 따라, 케이지와 사다리형이 조화롭게 조성물을 형성할 수 있게 하여 상기 커버윈도우가 높은 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스을 나타낼 수 있다. 상기 피크 세기 비율(I2/I1)이 1.2 미만이거나 2.5 초과하는 경우, 유연성이 열등해지고 경도 또한 저하되어 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우로 사용되기에 충분한 물성이 구현되지 않을 수 있다.
한편, 상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산은 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함한 반복 단위를 70 몰% 이상 포함할 수 있다.
상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기는 에폭시기를 포함하는 작용기라면 특별히 한정하는 것은 아니나, 예를 들어, 지환식 에폭시기 및 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 작용기로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나일 수 있다.

상술한 구성 단위들을 포함하는 폴리실록산은, 각 구성단위의 실록산 단량체, 구체적으로는 상기 화학식 1의 작용기를 갖는 알콕시실란 단독, 또는 상기 화학식 1의 작용기를 갖는 알콕시실란과 이종의 알콕시실란 간의 가수분해 및 축합반응에 의해 제조될 수 있는데, 이때 상기 알콕시실란의 함량비 제어를 통해 각 구성단위의 몰비를 제어할 수 있다. 한편, 상기 폴리실록산을 구성하는 각 구성 단위의 함량은 1H-NMR 또는 29Si-NMR 스펙트럼 측정에 의해 구할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 폴리실록산은 상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기 당량이 3.0 내지 6.3 mmol/g 또는 4.0 내지 6.0 mmol/g일 수 있다. 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 작용기의 당량이 지나치게 적은 경우 유무기 경화층의 밀도가 감소하여 표면 경도가 저하되는 문제점이 발생하고, 지나치게 많은 경우 유연성이 떨어지며, 미경화된 에폭시가 잔존하여 환경 신뢰성이 저하되는 문제점이 발생한다. 이러한 작용기의 당량은 폴리실록산의 분자량을 작용기의 수로 나눈 값으로, H-NMR 또는 화학적 적정법으로 분석할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 폴리실록산은 제조시 반응온도, 촉매의 양, 종류 용매 등을 이용한 반응 속도 조절을 통해 중량평균분자량, 수평균분자량, 분자량 분포 등이 조절될 수 있는데, 상술한 폴리실록산은 1,000 내지 50,000 g/mol, 또는 1,200 내지 15,000 g/mol의 중량평균분자량을 갖는 것일 수 있다. 상기한 범위의 중량평균 분자량을 가짐으로써 보다 우수한 경도 특성을 나타낼 수 있다. 만약 중량평균 분자량이 1,000 g/mol 미만이면, 경도가 구현되지 않고 오히려 연성이 발현될 우려가 있고, 또 50,000 g/mol을 초과하면 고경도를 나타내지만, 필름 가공성이 저하될 우려가 있다.
또한, 상기 폴리실록산은 상술한 Mw와 더불어 수평균 분자량(Mn)이 1,000 내지 10,000 g/mol, 보다 구체적으로는 1,000 내지 8,000 g/mol인 것일 수 있다. 상기한 수평균 분자량 조건을 충족하는 경우, 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물 내 다른 성분들과의 상용성이 증가되고, 경화물의 표면 경도가 향상되어, 경화물의 내열성 및 내마모성이 더욱 향상될 수 있다. 한편, 상기 폴리실록산의 중량평균분자량 및 수평균분자량은 겔투과 크로마토그래피에 의한 표준 폴리스티렌 환산 값이다.
또한, 상기 폴리실록산은 분자량 분포(Mw/Mn)가 1.0 내지 10.0, 보다 구체적으로는 1.1 내지 5.0인 것일 수 있다. 상기한 범위 내의 분자량 분포를 가질 경우, 표면 경도 개선 효과가 보다 우수하고, 폴리실록산이 액상으로 존재하여 취급이 용이하다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어지며, 상기 유무기 경화층에는 탄성 중합체를 포함할 수 있다. 상기 탄성중합체는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 커버윈도우의 toughness를 통한 stress 저항 특성을 부여하여 경화시 수축을 최소화할 수 있고, 그 결과 휨 특성을 개선하고, 동시에 굴곡성 등의 유연성을 개선시키고, 경도 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 탄성 중합체의 함량은 구체적으로, 상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함한 폴리실록산 100 중량부에 대해, 상기 탄성 중합체 10 중량부 이상 80 중량부 이하, 10 중량부 이상 70 중량부 이하, 10 중량부 이상 60 중량부 이하, 15 중량부 이상 50 중량부 이하로 포함할 수 있다. 상기 탄성 중합체의 함량이 지나치게 많으면 표면 경도 특성이 저하될 우려가 있고, 탄성 중합체의 함량이 지나치게 적으면 탄성 중합체 포함에 따른 개선 효과를 충분히 얻지 못하고, 휨 특성 및 굴곡성이 저하될 우려가 있다.
상기 탄성 중합체는 이로써 한정하는 것은 아니나, 예를 들어, 탄소수 1 내지 20의 알칸디올, 폴리올레핀 폴리올, 폴리에스테르 폴리올, 폴리카프로락톤 폴리올, 폴리에테르 폴리올 및 폴리카보네이트 폴리올로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다. 이들 탄성 중합체는 고무 등 통상의 탄성 중합체들과 비교하여 자외선 조사에 의해 가교 중합될 수 있으며, 또 다른 물성의 저하 없이 고경도와 유연성을 구현할 수 있다.
이중에서도 상기 탄성 중합체는 폴리카프로락톤 폴리올일 수 있다. 상기 폴리카프로락톤 폴리올은 반복단위 안에 에스테르기와 에테르기가 동시에 포함되어 반복됨으로써, 상기 폴리실록산과의 조합 사용시 유연성과 경도, 내충격성 면에서 보다 우수한 효과를 나타낼 수 있다.
상기 탄성 중합체는 수평균 분자량(Mn)이 300 Da 이상 10,000 Da 이하, 또는 500 Da 이상 5,000 Da 이하일 수 있다. 상기한 수평균 분자량 조건을 충족하는 경우, 유무기 경화층 내의 다른 성분들과의 상용성이 증가되고, 경화물의 표면 경도가 향상되어, 경화물의 내열성 및 내마모성이 더욱 향상될 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층은 상기 폴리실록산과 가교 가능한 작용기를 1 이상 포함하는 반응성 모노머를 더 포함할 수 있다. 상기 반응성 모노머는 상술한 폴리실록산과 가교 가능한 관능기를 1 이상 포함함으로써, 상기 폴리실록산 네트워크 사이에 가교제 역할을 함으로써 유무기 경화층의 인장강도를 높일 수 있다.
상기 반응성 모노머는 상기 폴리실록산과 가교 가능한 관능기로, 예를 들어, 지환족 에폭시기, 글리시딜기 및 옥세타닐기로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 폴리실록산과 가교 가능한 관능기를 1 이상 포함하는 반응성 모노머는, 예를 들어, 비스페놀 A 디글리시딜 에테르, 4-비닐시클로헥센 디옥사이드, 시클로헥센 비닐 모노옥사이드, (3,4-에폭시시클로헥실)메틸 3,4-에폭시시클로헥실카르복실레이트, 3,4-에폭시시클로헥실메틸 메타크릴레이트, 3,4-에폭시시클로헥산카르복실레이트, 2-(3,4-에폭시시클로헥실)-1,3-디옥솔레인, 비스(3,4-에폭시시클로헥실메틸)아디페이트, p-부틸 페놀 글리시딜 에테르, 부틸 글리시딜 에테르, 크레실 글리시딜 에테르, 알릴 글리시딜 에테르, 페닐 글리시딜 에테르, 디글리시딜 에테르, 부탄디올 디글리시딜 에테르, 리모넨 디옥사이드, 디에틸렌 글라이콜 디글리시딜 에테르, 3-메틸옥세탄, 2-메틸옥세탄, 3-옥세탄올, 2-메틸렌옥세탄, 3-메틸-3-히드록시메틸옥세탄, 3-에틸-3-히드록시메틸옥세탄, 3,3-옥세탄디메탄싸이올, 2-에틸헥실옥세탄, 4-(3-메틸옥세탄-3-일)벤조나이트릴, N-(2,2-디메틸프로필)-3-메틸-3-옥세탄메탄아민, N-(1,2-디메틸부틸)-3-메틸-3-옥세탄메탄아민, 자일렌 비스 옥세탄, 3-에틸-3[{(3-에틸옥세탄-3-일)메톡시}메틸]옥세탄, (3-에틸옥세탄-3-일)메틸 메타크릴레이트, 및 4-[(3-에틸옥세탄-3-일)메톡시]부탄-1-올로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층에 포함되는 폴리실록산 및 반응성 모노머의 중량비는 99:1 내지 70:30, 95:5 내지 73:27, 90:10 내지 75:25, 또는 85:15 내지 76:24일 수 있다. 상기 폴리실록산이 반응성 모노머에 비해 지나치게 많이 포함되는 경우 반응성 모노머 포함에 따른 개선 효과가 미미할 수 있다. 한편, 상기 폴리실록산이 탄성 중합체에 비해 지나치게 적게 포함되는 경우, 과량의 반응성 모노머로 인해 경화 사이트간 거리가 좁아지고, 이로 인한 경화 수축으로 인해 코팅막의 내부 응력 증가하여 크랙 저항성이 감소될 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층은 표면 경도 개선을 위해 아크릴레이트계 화합물을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 아크릴레이트계 화합물로는 2-에틸헥실 아크릴레이트, 옥타데실 아크릴레이트, 이소데실 아크릴레이트, 2-페녹시에틸 아크릴레이트, 라우릴 아크릴레이트, 스테아릴 아크릴레이트, 베헤닐 아크릴레이트, 트리데실 메타크릴레이트, 노닐페놀에톡시레이트 모노아크릴레이트, β-카르복시에틸 아크릴레이트, 이소보닐 아크릴레이트, 테트라하이드로퍼푸릴 아크릴레이트, 테트라하이드로퍼푸릴 메타크릴레이트, 4-부틸사이클로헥실 아크릴레이트, 디사이클로펜테닐 아크릴레이트, 디사이클로펜테닐 옥시에틸 아크릴레이트, 에톡시에톡시에틸 아크릴레이트, 에톡시레이티드 모노아크릴레이트, 1,6-헥산디올디아크릴레이트, 트리페닐글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 부탄디올 디아크릴레이트, 1,3-부틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 1,6-헥산디올 디메타크릴레이트, 네오펜틸글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 에틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 디에틸렌글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 디에틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 테트라에틸렌글리콜, 디아크릴레이트, 테트라에틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 트리에틸렌글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 트리에 틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 폴리에틸렌글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 폴리에틸렌글리콜 디메타크릴레이트, 디포로필렌글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 에톡시레이티드 네오펜틸글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 트리메틸올프로판 트리아크릴레이트, 트리메틸올프로판 트리메타크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨 트리아크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨트리메타크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨테트라메타크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨테트라아크릴레이트, 에톡시레이티드 트리아크릴레이트, 트리스(2-하이드록시에틸)이소시아누레이트 트리아크릴레이트, 디펜타에리쓰리톨 펜타크릴레이트, 디트리메틸올프로판 테트라아크릴레이트, 알콜시레이티드 테트라아크릴레이트 등을 들 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 펜타에리쓰리톨 트리아크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨트리메타크릴레이트, 펜타에리쓰리톨테트라메타크릴레이트, 또는 펜타에리쓰리톨테트라아크릴레이트 등과 같은 다관능성 아크릴레이트계 화합물을 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물이 사용될 수 있다.
이외에도, 폴리에스테르아크릴레이트, 폴리에테르아크릴레이트, 우레탄아크릴레이트, 또는 에폭시아크릴레이트 등과 같은 아크릴레이트계 올리고머를 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물이 사용될 수 있다. 상기한 아크릴레이트계 화합물 들 중에서도 상술한 폴리실록산과의 조합 사용시 표면 경도 개선 효과의 현저함을 고려할 때 우레탄 아크릴레이트 올리고머가 보다 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다.
상기 우레탄 아크릴레이트 올리고머는 관능기 수가 6 내지 9개일 수 있다. 관능기가 6개 미만이면 경도 개선 효과가 미미할 수 있고, 9개 초과이면 경도는 우수하나 점도가 상승할 수 있다. 또, 상기 우레탄 (메타)아크릴레이트 올리고머는 당해 분야에서 사용되는 것을 제한 없이 사용할 수 있으나, 바람직하게는 분자내 1개 이상의 이소시아네이트기를 갖는 화합물과 분자내 히드록시기를 1개 이상 갖는 (메타)아크릴레이트 화합물을 반응시켜 제조된 것이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 아크릴레이트계 화합물이 더 포함될 경우, 상기 폴리실록산 100중량부에 대하여 0.1 내지 20중량부, 1 내지 15중량부, 또는 5 내지 10중량부로 포함될 수 있다. 반응성 모노머의 함량이 0.1중량부 미만이면 아크릴레이트계 화합물 포함에 따른 개선 효과가 미미하고, 20중량부를 초과할 경우 과량의 아크릴레이트계 화합물로 인해 표면 경도 개선 효과가 오히려 저해될 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층은 광경화 또는 열경화에 사용되는 개시제, 증감제 등을 추가로 포함할 수 있다.
상기한 성분들과 함께 유무기 경화층은 독립적으로 산화방지제, 계면활성제, 황변 방지제, 무기 나노입자, 활제, 코팅조제, 방오제, 분산제, 흡광제, 안료, 염료 등 통상적으로 사용되는 첨가제를 1종 이상 추가로 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무기 나노입자는 예를 들어 실리카 미립자, 알루미늄 옥사이드 입자, 티타늄 옥사이드 입자, 또는 징크 옥사이드 입자 등을 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 무기 나노입자의 입경은 10 내지 200 nm, 30 내지 180 nm, 50 내지 150 nm 또는 60 내지 130 nm일 수 있다. 이러한 무기 나노입자의 입경 범위는 투과전자현미경(Transmission Electron Microscope, TEM) 으로 측정될 수 있다.
상기 무기 나노입자는 유기 용매에 보다 용이하게 분산되기 위해서 표면에 치환된 소정의 작용기를 포함할 수 있다. 상기 무기 나노입자 표면에 치환 가능한 유기 작용기의 예가 크게 한정되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어 (메트)아크릴레이트기, 비닐기, 히드록시기, 아민기, 알릴기(allyl), 에폭시기, 히드록시기, 이소시아네이트기, 아민기 또는 불소 등이 상기 무기 나노입자 표면에 치환될 수 있다.
한편, 상기 일 구현예에 따른 무-기재 타입의 디스플레이 장치의 커버윈도우는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어지며, 상기 유무기 경화층의 두께는 50 ㎛ 이상 1,000 ㎛ 이하, 50 ㎛ 이상 700 ㎛ 미만, 50 ㎛ 이상 500 ㎛ 미만, 50 ㎛ 이상 300 ㎛ 미만, 60 ㎛ 이상 250 ㎛ 이하, 70 ㎛ 이상 230 ㎛ 이하, 100 ㎛ 이상 200 ㎛ 이하일 수 있다. 상기 커버윈도우는 지지 기재를 포함하지 않고 유무기 경화층만으로 이루어짐으로써 종래에 비해 얇은 두께 범위의 커버 윈도우의 구현이 가능하고, 이러한 얇은 두께 범위에서도 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 동시에 만족하고, 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의한 내부 구조에 발생하는 손상을 방지할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 커버윈도우가 지지 기재를 포함하지 않음으로 인해, 상기 유무기 경화층 자체는 다소 높은 두께로 형성되더라도, 기재 수축의 영향을 받지 않아 컬이나 크랙이 발생할 염려가 없다.
상기 유무기 경화층은 단일층이거나 2층 이상의 다층 구조일 수 있다. 상기 유무기 경화층이 다층 구조인 경우 전체 유무기 경화층의 총 두께 합은 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 예를 들어 50 ㎛ 이상 1,000 ㎛ 이하, 50 ㎛ 이상 900 ㎛ 이하, 100 ㎛ 이상 800 ㎛ 이하, 200 ㎛ 이상 700 ㎛ 이하, 200 ㎛ 이상 600 ㎛ 이하일 수 있다.
상기 일 구현예의 무-기재타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우 는, 유무기 경화층 중간에 8 mm의 간격을 두고 상기 유무기 경화층이 마주 보도록 90° 각도로 접었다 폈다를 상온에서 1초당 1회의 속도로 20만회 반복 수행시 1 mm 이상의 크랙이 발생하지 않아, 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 필름의 손상이 거의 없어 벤더블, 플렉서블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 장치, 또는 디스플레이 장치 등의 커버윈도우로 용이하게 적용할 수 있다.
도 1은 동적 굽힘 특성을 평가하는 방법을 개략적으로 나타낸 것이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버윈도우를 바닥과 수평이 되도록 놓은 후 중간 부분에 접히는 부위의 간격이 8 mm가 되도록 하고 커버윈도우의 양 쪽을 바닥면에 대하여 90도로 접었다 폈다를 상온에서 1초당 1회의 속도로 20만회 반복하는 방식으로 굽힘에 대한 내구성을 측정할 수 있다. 이때, 접히는 부위 간격을 일정하게 유지하기 위하여 예를 들어, 상기 커버윈도우를 직경(R) 8 mm의 봉에 닿도록 놓고 커버윈도우의 나머지 부분을 고정하고, 봉을 중심으로 커버윈도우의 양 쪽을 접었다 폈다를 반복하는 방식을 취할 수 있다. 또한 상기 접히는 부분은 커버윈도우의 내부이기만 하면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 측정 편의상 접히는 부분을 제외한 커버윈도우의 나머지 양 쪽이 대칭이 되도록 커버윈도우의 중앙 부분이 접히게 할 수 있다.
이러한 동적 굽힘 특성 평가에 있어서, 상기 디스플레이 장치의 커버윈도우는 20만회의 굽힘을 실시한 후에도 1 cm 이상, 또는 1 mm 이상의 크랙이 발생하지 않으며, 실질적으로 크랙이 발생하지 않는다. 따라서, 반복적으로 접거나, 말거나, 휘게 하는 등의 실제 사용 상태에 있어서도 크랙이 발생할 우려가 매우 낮아 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버윈도우용으로 적합하게 적용할 수 있다.
상기 커버윈도우는 일면에 접착층과 기능층이 형성된 후, 또는 패널 조립 상태에서 상기 커버윈도우의 표면에 대하여 연필경도 측정기를 이용하여 300 g의 하중으로 5 회 왕복하여 연필이 지나간 경로에 크랙이 발생하지 않은 최대 경도가 2B 이상, 2B 이상 5H 이하, B 이상 5H 이하, 또는 H 이상 5H 이하 일 수 있다.
이로 인해, 상기 커버윈도우는 우수한 내눌림성을 구현하여 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 필름의 손상이 거의 없고 소자 안정성이 구현되어 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버윈도우 및 이를 이용한 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있다.
또한, 발명의 다른 구현예에 따르면, 상기 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우, 상기 커버윈도우 일면에 형성된 접착층 및 상기 접착층 상에 형성된 디스플레이 패널을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치가 제공될 수 있다. 상기 디스플레이 장치는 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치일 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이 패널은 커브드(curved), 벤더블(bendable), 플렉시블(flexible), 롤러블(rollable), 또는 폴더블(foldable) 형태의 이동통신 단말기, 스마트폰 또는 태블릿 PC의 터치 패널, 및 각종 디스플레이 패널을 모두 포함할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 디스플레이 패널은 전계발광 디스플레이에서, 유기전계발광(OLED: Organic Light Emitting Diode) 디스플레이 패널, 퀀텀닷 발광 (Quantum-dot Light Emitting Diode) 디스플레이 패널, 또는 무기전계발광(Inorganic Light Emitting Diode) 디스플레이 패널일 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이 패널이 액정디스플레이 패널인 경우에는, 다수의 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인, 및 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인의 교차 영역에 형성되는 픽셀(Pixel)을 포함한다. 그리고 각 픽셀에서의 광 투과도를 조절하기 위한 스위칭 소자인 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 어레이 기판과, 컬러필터 및/또는 블랙매트릭스 등을 구비한 상부기판과, 어레이 기판 및 상부기판 사이에 형성되는 액정층을 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 디스플레이 패널이 유기 전계 발광(OLED) 디스플레이 패널인 경우에는, 다수의 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인 및 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인의 교차 영역에 형성되는 픽셀(Pixel)을 포함할 수 있다. 그리고 각 픽셀에 선택적으로 전압을 인가하기 위한 소자인 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 어레이 기판과, 어레이 기판 상의 유기 발광 소자(OLED)층 및 유기 발광 소자층을 덮도록 어레이 기판 상에 배치되는 봉지 기판 또는 인캡슐레이션(Encapsulation) 기판 등을 포함하여 구성될 수 있다. 봉지 기판은 외부의 충격으로부터 박막 트랜지스터 및 유기 발광 소자층 등을 보호하고, 유기 발광 소자층으로 수분이나 산소가 침투하는 것을 방지할 수 있다. 어레이 기판 상에 형성되는 층은 무기 발광층(inorganic light emitting layer), 예를 들어 나노 사이즈의 물질층(nano-sized material layer) 또는 양자점(quantum dot) 등을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버 윈도우는, 상기 디스플레이 패널로부터 출사되는 광을 투과할 수 있도록 투명 재질로 이루어질 수 있다.
또한, 상기 무-기재 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버 윈도우는, 이들 사이에 개제된 접착층으로 인해 결합될 수 있으며, 상기 접착제는 광학용 투명 접착층 (Optical Clear Adhesive; OCA 또는 Optical Clear Resin; OCR)을 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 발명의 또 다른 구현예에 따르면, 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 커버윈도우를 합지하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우는 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어지는, 디스플레이 장치 제조방법을 제공될 수 있다. 한편, 상기 디스플레이 장치는 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치일 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층의 두께는 50 ㎛ 이상 300 ㎛ 미만일 수 있으며, 상기 유무기 경화층에 포함되는 조성(에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함되는 폴리실록산 등) 및 커버윈도우의 구조 등은 상기 일 구현예에 따른 커버윈도우에서 상술한 바와 같다.
상기 디스플레이 장치 제조방법은 이하 단계를 포함할 수 있다.

또한, 상기 디스플레이 장치 제조방법은 이하 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
A단계) 일면에 접착층이 형성된 이형필름을 준비하는 단계
B단계) 상기 접착층 상에 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층을 형성하는 단계
C단계) 상기 이형필름을 박리하는 단계
D단계) 상기 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우를 합지하는 단계
이때, 상기 디스플레이 패널과 상기 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우는 이들 사이에 개제된 접착층으로 인해 합지될 수 있다.
상기 이형 필름은 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상적으로 사용되는 것이라면 제한 없이 사용될 수 있으며, 예를 들어 폴리에스테르 필름, 폴리에틸렌 필름, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 필름, 폴리프로필렌 필름 등의 폴리올레핀계 필름, 또는 테프론계 필름일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 박리가 용이하도록 실리콘 또는 아크릴실리콘으로 이형 처리된 필름일 수 있다.
상기 이형 필름은 10 ㎛ 내지 500 ㎛, 또는 20 ㎛ 내지 200 ㎛의 두께로 형성될 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
상기 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층은 이형 필름 또는 이형 필름의 일면에 형성된 접착층 상에 형성될 수 있으며, 예를 들어, 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물을 도포하고 광경화함으로 제공될 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물을 도포하는 방법은 본 기술이 속하는 기술분야에서 사용될 수 있는 것이면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 예를 들면 바코팅 방식, 나이프 코팅방식, 롤 코팅방식, 블레이드 코팅방식, 다이 코팅방식, 마이크로 그라비아 코팅방식, 콤마코팅 방식, 슬롯다이 코팅방식, 립 코팅방식, 솔루션 캐스팅(solution casting)방식 등을 이용할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 유무기 경화층 광경화시 상기 자외선의 조사량은, 예를 들면 약 100 내지 약 2000 mJ/cm2, 또는 약 500 내지 약 1000 mJ/cm2일 수 있다. 자외선 조사의 광원으로는 본 기술이 속하는 기술분야에서 사용될 수 있는 것이면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 예를 들면 고압 수은 램프, 메탈 할라이드 램프, 블랙 라이트(black light) 형광 램프 등을 사용할 수 있다. 상기와 같은 조사량으로 약 30 초 내지 약 15 분 동안, 또는 약 1 분 내지 약 10 분 동안 조사하여 광경화하는 단계를 수행할 수 있다.
상기 유무기 경화층 형성 이후, 이형필름을 박리하고, 상기 디스플레이 패널과 상기 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 커버윈도우를, 이들 사이에 개제된 접착층으로 합지시킬 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이 패널은 상기 다른 구현예에 따른 디스플레이 장치의 디스플레이 패널에서 상술한 바와 같다.
본 발명에 따르면, 기재 필름을 포함하지 않아 코팅층과 계면 사이의 박리 문제가 발생하지 않으면서도, 박막화를 용이하게 달성 가능하고, 가격 경쟁력이 향상되고, 유연성 및 고경도의 물성 밸런스를 동시에 만족하도록 구현하면서, 특히 반복적인 굽힘이나 접힘 동작에 의해서도 필름의 손상이 거의 없어 벤더블, 플렉시블, 롤러블, 또는 폴더블 모바일 기기, 또는 디스플레이 기기 등에 용이하게 적용할 수 있는 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우와 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치가 제공될 수 있다.
상기 플렉서블 디스플레이 장치의 커버 윈도우는 강화 유리 등을 대체할 수 있는 물성을 가질 수 있기 때문에, 외부에서 가해지는 압력이나 힘에 의하여 깨어지지 않을 뿐만 아니라 충분히 휘어지고 접힐 수 있는 정도의 특성을 가질 수 있으며, 유연성, 굴곡성, 고경도, 내찰상성, 고투명도, 내지문성 및 방오성을 나타내며, 반복적, 지속적인 굽힘이나 장시간 접힘 상태에서도 필름의 손상이 적어 벤더블(bendable), 플렉시블(flexible), 롤러블(rollable), 또는 폴더블(foldable) 모바일 기기, 디스플레이 기기, 각종 계기판의 전면판, 표시부 등에 유용하게 적용할 수 있다.
도 1은 동적 굽힘 특성을 평가하는 방법을 개략적으로 나타낸 것이다.
발명을 하기의 실시예에서 보다 상세하게 설명한다. 단, 하기의 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하는 것일 뿐, 본 발명의 내용이 하기의 실시예에 의하여 한정되는 것은 아니다.
<제조예 1>
(1) 폴리실록산 A 제조
1000 mL 3-neck 플라스크에 실란 모노머인 3-글리시독시프로필트리메톡시실란 (GPTMS, KBM-403™, Shinetsu社), 물 및 톨루엔을 넣고 혼합하여 교반하였다 (GPTMS:물= 1 mol: 3 mol).
다음으로, 결과의 혼합 용액에 염기성 촉매(trimethylammonium hydroxide; TMAH)를 상기 실란 모노머 100 중량부에 대해서 1 중량부로 첨가하고 100 ℃에서 2 시간 반응시켜, 글리시독시프로필 변성 실리콘(glycidoxypropyl modified silicone, 이하 GP) 100 몰%를 포함하는 하기 조성의 폴리실록산 A를 제조하였다.
폴리실록산 A에 대한 ATR법에 의해 측정된 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서, 1055 cm-1에서 나타난 피크의 강도(I1)에 대한 1090 cm-1에서 나타난 피크의 강도(I2)의 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은 1.45로 나타났다.
(2) 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물 제조
상기 폴리실록산 A 100 g, 탄성 중합체(폴리카프로락톤 디올, Mn = 530) 50 g, 개시제인 I-250 (BASF 社) 3 g, 레벨링제 F-477 (DIC 社) 0.2 g 및 용매인 메틸에틸케톤 10 g을 혼합하여 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물 제조하였다.
<비교제조예 1>
(1) 폴리실록산 B 제조
1000 mL 3-neck 플라스크에 실란 모노머인 3-글리시독시프로필트리메톡시실란 (GPTMS, KBM-403™, Shinetsu社), 물 및 톨루엔을 넣고 혼합하여 교반하였다 (GPTMS:물= 1 mol: 3 mol).
다음으로, 결과의 혼합 용액에 염기성 촉매(trimethylammonium hydroxide; TMAH)를 상기 실란 모노머 100 중량부에 대해서 1 중량부로 첨가하고 100 ℃에서 8 시간 반응시켜, 글리시독시프로필 변성 실리콘(glycidoxypropyl modified silicone, 이하 GP) 100 몰%를 포함하는 하기 조성의 폴리실록산 B를 제조하였다.
상기 폴리실록산 B에 대한 ATR법에 의해 측정된 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서, 1020 cm-1에서 나타난 피크의 강도(I1)에 대한 1090 cm-1에서 나타난 피크의 강도(I2)의 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은 1.15로 나타났다.
(2) 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물 제조
상기 폴리실록산 B 100 g, 탄성 중합체(폴리카프로락톤 디올, Mn = 530) 50 g, 개시제인 I-250 (BASF 社) 3 g, 레벨링제 F-477 (DIC 社) 0.2 g 및 용매인 메틸에틸케톤 10 g을 혼합하여 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물 제조하였다.
<실시예 및 비교예>
실시예 1 내지 3, 비교예 1 및 2
이형 처리된 100 ㎛ 두께의 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트 (PET, 미쓰비시社) 이형 필름을 준비하였다. 상기 이형 필름의 일면에 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물을 도포하고 램프를 이용하여 자외선을 조사(조사량: 1,000 mJ/㎠)해 광경화하여 유무기 경화층을 형성하였다. 이후, 상기 유무기 경화층으로부터 이형 필름을 박리하여 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우를 제조하였다.
이때, 각각의 실시예 및 비교예에 사용된 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물과 유무기 경화층의 두께는 하기 표 1에 기재된 바와 같다.
비교예 3
15 cmx20 cm, 두께 50 ㎛의 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET) 필름의 일면에, 상기 제조예 1에서 제조한 유무기 경화층 형성용 조성물을 도포하고 램프를 이용하여 자외선을 조사(조사량: 1,000 mJ/㎠)해 광경화하여 유무기 경화층을 형성하여, PET를 기재로 사용한 커버윈도우를 제조하였다.
<평가>
다음의 방법으로 물성을 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.
1. 눌림 특성
실시예 및 비교예의 커버윈도우의 일면에 상온에서 라미네이션 기기를 이용하여 접착층인 optical clear adhesive film (3M社, 두께: 20 ㎛)과 유리기판을 차례로 적층하였다.
이후, 상기 커버윈도우에 대해 연필경도 측정기를 이용하여 하중 300 g, 각도 45°로 연필을 고정시킨 후 연필 경도 별로 20 mm씩 총 5 회 긁어 육안으로 긁히는지 여부를 판단하고, 3회 이상 표면 손상(1 mm 이상의 크랙)이 생기지 않는 최대 연필 경도를 측정하였다.
2. 동적 굽힘 특성
도 1은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 커버윈도우에 대해, 동적 굽힘 특성을 평가하는 방법을 개략적으로 도시한 도면이다.
구체적으로, 상기 커버윈도우를 재단하되, 엣지(edge) 부위의 미세 크랙을 최소화도록 80 x 140 mm의 크기로 레이저 재단하였다. 측정 장비 위에 레이저 재단된 필름을 올리고, 접히는 부위의 간격(내측 곡률 직경)이 8 mm가 되도록 하여, 상온에서 커버윈도우의 양 쪽을 바닥면에 대하여 90도로 접었다 폈다를 연속 동작(커버윈도우가 접혀지는 속도는 25 ℃에서 1초당 1회)으로 20만회 반복하고, 하기 <평가 기준>에 따라 동적 굽힘 특성을 평가하였다.
<평가 기준>
양호: 1 mm 이상의 크랙 발생하지 않음
불량: 1 mm 이상의 크랙 발생

상기 표 1에 따르면, 실시예 1 내지 3의 커버윈도우는 1H 이상의 눌림특성을 나타내면서도 양호한 동적 굽힘 특성을 갖는다는 점이 확인되었다.
한편, 비교예 1은 커버윈도우의 두께가 지나치게 두꺼워 동적 굽힘 특성이 불량하고, 비교예 2는 눌림특성이 저하되고 경화물의 유연성이 부족하여 굽힘 특성이 불량하고, 비교예3은 기재를 포함함에 따라 경화층을 얇게 형성하여 눌림특성이 현저히 저하된다는 점을 확인했다.
Claims (16)
- 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 유무기 경화층의 두께는 50 ㎛ 이상 700 ㎛ 미만인,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산은 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리실록산에 대한 감쇠 전반사(ATR)법에 의해 측정된 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서, 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 갖고, 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 갖는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제4항에 있어서,상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I1) 대비 상기 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I2)의 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은 1.2 이상 2.5 이하인,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산은, 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함한 반복 단위를 70 몰% 이상 포함하는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 유무기 경화층은 상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산 100 중량부에 대해 탄성 중합체를 10 중량부 이상 80 중량부 이하로 포함하는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 탄성 중합체는 수평균 분자량(Mn)이 300 Da 이상 10,000 Da 이하인 폴리카프로락톤 폴리올을 포함하는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 유무기 경화층 중간에 8 mm의 간격을 두고 상기 유무기 경화층이 마주 보도록 90° 각도로 접었다 폈다를 상온에서 1초당 1회의 속도로 20만회 반복 수행시 1 mm 이상의 크랙이 발생하지 않는,무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우.
- 제1항의 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 디스플레이 장치용 커버윈도우;상기 커버윈도우 일면에 형성된 접착층; 및상기 접착층 상에 형성된 디스플레이 패널을 포함하는,디스플레이 장치.
- 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 무-기재(substrate less) 타입의 커버윈도우를 합지하는 단계를 포함하고,상기 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우는, 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층으로 이루어지는,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 유무기 경화층의 두께는 50 ㎛ 이상 300 ㎛ 미만인,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산은 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
- 제13항에 있어서,상기 상이한 구조를 갖는 2 이상의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리실록산에 대한 감쇠 전반사(ATR)법에 의해 측정된 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서, 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 갖고, 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 적어도 1개의 피크를 갖고,상기 1010 cm-1 내지 1070 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I1) 대비 상기 1075 cm-1 내지 1130 cm-1의 영역에서 나타나는 적어도 1개의 피크 중에서 가장 강도가 큰 피크의 강도(I2)의 피크 강도 비율(I2/I1)은 1.2 이상 2.5 이하인,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우를 합지하는 단계 이전에,이형 필름의 일면에 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층을 형성하는 단계;상기 유무기 경화층으로부터 이형 필름을 박리하는 단계; 및상기 이형 필름이 박리된 유무기 경화층의 일면 또는 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 접착층을 형성하는 단계를 더 포함하고,상기 디스플레이 패널과 상기 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 커버윈도우는 이들 사이에 개제된 접착층으로 인해 합지되는,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 디스플레이 패널의 일면에 무-기재 타입의 커버윈도우를 합지하는 단계 이전에,일면에 접착층이 형성된 이형필름을 준비하는 단계;상기 접착층 상에 에폭시기 함유 작용기를 포함하는 폴리실록산을 포함하는 유무기 경화층을 형성하는 단계; 및상기 이형필름을 박리하는 단계를 더 포함하고,상기 디스플레이 패널과 상기 유무기 경화층으로 이루어진 커버윈도우는 이들 사이에 개제된 접착층으로 인해 합지되는,디스플레이 장치 제조방법.
