- FIG. 4 is a graph showing the relationship between the integrated current value and the amount of change in the open circuit voltage.
- Graph a shows the characteristics of the battery 11 when it is new.
- Graph b shows the characteristics when the full charge capacity of the battery 11 is halved.
- the measured values are plotted at points as shown in FIG.
- the amount of change in OCV with respect to the integrated current value increases as the full charge capacity decreases, and the slope of the graph increases.
- the integrated current value corresponds to the amount of change in the remaining charge amount of the battery 11.
- the OCV has a correlation with the SOC (State Of: Charge: the ratio of the remaining charge amount to the charge amount at the time of full charge), and thus the change amount of the OCV corresponds to the change amount of the SOC of the battery 11.
- the current integrated value corresponding to the change amount of the remaining charge amount and the change amount of the OCV corresponding to the SOC are correlated.
- the integrated current value which is the amount of change in the remaining charge amount
- the OCV corresponding to the change amount in SOC decreases due to battery deterioration.
- the amount of change increases.
- OCV and SOC are substantially synonymous.
- the OCV change amount is small.
- the influence of the error of the current sensor 12 becomes large with respect to the change amount of the OCV because the change amount of the OCV is small. That is, when the integrated current value is small, it is difficult to determine whether the change in the OCV is a change due to charging / discharging of the battery 11 or a change due to an error in the current sensor. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the lower limit value of the current integrated value is set as the estimation condition.
- FIG. 5 is a graph showing the relationship between the detection value of the current sensor and the error.
- the error characteristic of the current sensor 12 is a quadratic curve with the error at the time of zero current being the minimum value. That is, the error increases as the absolute value of the current value increases.
- the current sensor error accumulates, and the influence of the error on the current integrated value increases. Therefore, in this embodiment, the upper limit value of the current integrated value is set as the estimation condition.
- the influence of the error of the current sensor 12 becomes large with respect to the change amount of the OCV.
- the influence of the error on the current integrated value due to the error of the current sensor becomes large. For this reason, the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the current integrated value are determined in advance by experiments or the like so that the influence of the error of the current sensor can be suppressed.
- the calculation formula for the capacity maintenance rate of the battery 11 uses the SOC difference ( ⁇ SOC ⁇ v) based on the open circuit voltage as the numerator and the SOC difference ( ⁇ SOC ⁇ i) based on the integrated current value as the denominator. From the characteristics shown in FIG. 5, when the current (charge / discharge current) of the battery 11 is small, the error in the detected current value is small. In the calculation formula of the capacity maintenance ratio, the error component of the detected current value affects the denominator. Therefore, the smaller the detected current value error, the smaller the influence of the capacity maintenance ratio on the calculated value. Therefore, in this embodiment, an average current threshold is set as the estimation condition.
- FIG. 6 is a graph showing changes in current over time.
- the integrated current value is in the range from the lower limit value to the upper limit value.
- an average current threshold is set as the estimation condition. In the current change as shown in FIG. 6, since the average current is less than the average current threshold, the estimation condition is not satisfied.
- step S3 and step S4 when the estimation condition is satisfied, the OCV calculation unit 26 calculates the open circuit voltage (OCV 1 ) at the previous zero current time and the open circuit voltage (OCV 2 ) at the current zero current time. Calculate.
- FIG. 7 is a graph showing battery 11 current change (current change shown in FIG. 7A) and voltage change (voltage change shown in FIG. 7B) before and after the zero current point (t a ).
- the charging current of the battery 11 becomes zero at time t a.
- Voltage of the battery 11 is begins to decrease at time t a, the polarization phenomenon, does not fall completely at time t a.
- Voltage of the battery 11 is lowered gradually and time t a later.
- the polarization is nearly eliminated, the voltage of the battery 11 becomes a voltage fully down. That is, during the time t a to time t b becomes polarized period, the battery voltage is unstable.
- the open circuit voltage is calculated based on the detected voltage during the polarization period, it also causes a calculation error.
- the OCV calculation unit 26 calculates the open circuit voltage based on the detection voltage after the elapse of a predetermined polarization period from the zero current point.
- the polarization period is set in advance according to the characteristics of the battery 11.
- the OCV calculating part 26 may set the length of polarization time according to the magnitude
- SOC state of charge
- the ⁇ SOC-v calculation unit 27 stores this correlation as a map in advance, and calculates the SOC with reference to the map.
- the ⁇ SOC-v calculating unit 27 calculates the difference between the SOC 2 by calculating the difference between the SOC 2 corresponding to the current open circuit voltage (OCV 2 ) and the SOC 1 corresponding to the previous open circuit voltage (OCV 1 ). ( ⁇ SOC ⁇ v) is calculated.
- step S7 the ⁇ SOC-i calculation unit 25 calculates the SOC change amount ( ⁇ SOC-i) by an arithmetic expression expressed by the ratio of the current integrated value to the full charge capacity of the current battery 11.
- step S8 the capacity maintenance ratio calculation unit 28 calculates the capacity maintenance ratio by an arithmetic expression represented by a ratio of the SOC change amount ( ⁇ SOC-v) to the SOC change amount ( ⁇ SOC-i).
- the full charge capacity calculation unit 29 calculates the current full charge capacity by multiplying the initial full charge capacity by the current capacity maintenance rate.
- the period from the first time point when the absolute value of the battery current is close to 0 ampere to the second time point when the absolute value of the battery current is close to 0 ampere is specified as the integration period.
- the integrated value of the battery current in the integration period is calculated, the first open voltage at the first time point and the second open voltage at the second time point are calculated based on the detected voltage of the battery, and the first open voltage and the second open voltage are calculated.
- the capacity maintenance rate of the battery is estimated based on the voltage difference between and the integrated value satisfying the estimation condition.
- the capacity maintenance rate is calculated using the integrated current value that has a small influence on the detection error of the sensor, so that the estimation accuracy of the capacity maintenance rate can be increased.
- FIG. 8 is a graph showing the relationship between the integrated current value and the calculation error.
- rhombuses are plots of measurement values of calculation errors with respect to current integrated values.
- the capacity maintenance rate is calculated using a calculation method (hereinafter also referred to as a ⁇ SOC calculation method) executed in the control flow shown in FIG.
- the integrated current value is not limited to the above-described estimation condition, and is set to a wide range while being at least higher than zero.
- the calculation error corresponds to the difference between the calculated value calculated using the SOC calculation method and the actual capacity maintenance rate. Then, the lower limit value of the allowable calculation error is C L and the upper limit value is C H.
- the calculation error becomes the largest when the integrated current value is close to zero. As the absolute value of the current integrated value increases, the calculation error decreases. Further, when the absolute value of the current integrated value increases, the calculation error increases again at a predetermined region.
- a graph such as graph a is obtained. Then, the range A indicated by the intersection of the approximate curve a and the upper limit value C H of the operation error, a range of calculation error becomes smaller that against the accumulated current value. Range A is the same range with the range indicated by the intersection of the approximate curve a lower limit value C L of the calculation error.
- the upper limit value and lower limit value of the current integrated value corresponding to the range A are set to the upper limit value and lower limit value of the current integrated value in the estimation condition.
- the calculation error is smaller than the error outside the range A.
- the period between the zero current points is set as the period for which the capacity maintenance rate is calculated.
- the relationship between the calculation method and the SOC error will be described with reference to FIG.
- a method for calculating the SOC a method for calculating the SOC from the current integrated value and the open circuit voltage is conceivable. That is, in this method, the SOC obtained from the open circuit voltage (hereinafter referred to as SOC-v) and the SOC obtained from the current integrated value (hereinafter referred to as SOC-i) are added at a predetermined ratio (weighted synthesis). In the following, it is also referred to as a blend method. In the blend type SOC calculation method, when the current value is relatively small, the SOC-v ratio is set to a large ratio, and the SOC-i ratio is set to a small ratio.
- the SOC-i ratio is set to a large ratio, and the SOC-v ratio is set to a small ratio. Then, the SOC is calculated by adding the set SOC-i ratio and the set SOC-v ratio.
- a blend-type SOC calculation method is a well-known calculation method as described in JP 2013-217899 A, for example, and will not be described in detail below.
- the SOC calculation method is described as a blend method in which SOC-v and SOC-i are added at a predetermined ratio, but the SOC calculation method is not limited to the blend method. For example, an SOC calculation method that employs either SOC-v or SOC-i as the SOC according to the current value may be used.
- FIG. 9 shows the SOC error when the SOC is calculated by the blend method.
- a period from time t A to time t B is a period in which the current decreases, and a period from time 0 to time t A and a period after time t B are periods in which the current increases. Assume that the zero current time point is within the period from time t A to time t B.
- the composite ratio of SOC-i is large and the composite ratio of SOC-v is small.
- the SOC-v composition ratio is large and the SOC-i composition ratio is small.
- the composition ratio corresponds to a ratio to the total ratio obtained by adding the SOC-i ratio and the SOC-v ratio.
- the composite ratio of SOC-i based on the current integrated value is high starting from time 0, errors due to the current sensor 12 accumulate with the passage of time. If the composite ratio of SOC-i based on the current integrated value remains high after time t A , the error is increased and the current error is further increased even if the current is reduced.
- the blend method increases the SOC-v composite ratio when the current value is small, the open circuit voltage is calculated based on the voltage at the time of zero current, and the SOC-v calculated using this open circuit voltage is calculated. Since the composite ratio increases, the calculation of the SOC based on the open circuit voltage at the time of zero current corrects the SOC error based on the integrated current value. In other words, in the blend method, the SOC estimation error based on the integrated current value is corrected by estimating the SOC based on the open circuit voltage at the time of the zero current point. As a result, the calculation accuracy of the full charge capacity can be improved.
- the range from the integrated value above the predetermined lower limit value to the upper limit value is set as the estimation condition.
- the capacity maintenance rate is calculated using the integrated current value that has a small influence on the detection error of the sensor, so that the estimation accuracy of the capacity maintenance rate can be increased.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 may set a lower limit value of the current integrated value included in the estimation condition based on the estimated value of the capacity maintenance rate.
- FIG. 10 is a graph showing an example of a current change (change shown in FIG. 10A) and a voltage change (change shown in FIG. 10B) of the battery 11.
- the current and voltage changes shown in FIG. 10 are changes when the battery is charged from a certain state of charge (SOC S ).
- Graph a shows the current change in the initial state (before deterioration), and graph b shows the deterioration.
- the subsequent current change is shown.
- the time t p is in the battery 11 in the initial state, represents the time that current integration value accumulated from the time t 0 has reached the lower limit value of the estimated conditions.
- an upper limit value (SOC H ) of the SOC is set in advance for the purpose of protecting the battery 11.
- the battery controller 20 manages the battery 11 so that the SOC of the battery 11 does not become higher than the upper limit value (SOC H ).
- the integrated value of the charging current reaches the lower limit value of the estimation condition before the SOC reaches SOC H. Therefore, the current integrated value are stacked in from time t 0 to time t p, it can be used for estimation control of the capacity maintenance ratio.
- the full charge capacity is reduced. Therefore, when the charging current is set to the same value, the amount of change in the SOC after deterioration (corresponding to the slope of the graph in FIG. 11B) is initial. It becomes larger than the amount of change in SOC in the state (before deterioration). Then, before the integrated value of the charging current reaches the lower limit value of the estimation condition, the SOC reaches the upper limit value (SOC H ) at the time tq , and the charging current becomes lower. Therefore, the frequency of estimating the capacity maintenance rate is reduced.
- the characteristic shown in FIG. 11 is an example of current and voltage changes when the battery is charged from a certain voltage (V S ), as in FIG. 10, and graph a shows the characteristic in the initial state (before deterioration).
- the graph b shows the characteristic after deterioration.
- the time t p is in the battery 11 in the initial state, represents the time that current integration value accumulated from the time t 0 has reached the lower limit value of the estimated conditions.
- an upper limit value (V H ) and a lower limit value (V L ) of the voltage are set in advance for the purpose of protecting the battery 11.
- the battery controller 20 manages the battery 11 so that the voltage of the battery 11 does not become higher than the upper limit value (V H ).
- the integrated value of the charging current reaches the lower limit of the estimated conditions. Therefore, the current integrated value are stacked in from time t 0 to time t p, it can be used for estimation control of the capacity maintenance ratio.
- the characteristic shown in FIG. 12 is an example of the current and SOC change when the battery is discharged from a certain charged state (SOC S ).
- Graph a shows the current change in the initial state (before deterioration), and graph b. Indicates SOC change after degradation.
- the time t p is in the battery 11 in the initial state, represents the time that current integration value accumulated from the time t 0 has reached the lower limit value of the estimated conditions.
- a lower limit value (SOC L ) of the SOC is set in advance for the purpose of protecting the battery 11.
- the battery controller 20 manages the battery 11 so that the SOC of the battery 11 does not become lower than the lower limit value (SOC L ).
- the integrated value of the discharge current reaches the lower limit value of the estimation condition before the SOC reaches the SOC L. Therefore, the current integrated value are stacked in from time t 0 to time t p, it can be used for estimation control of the capacity maintenance ratio.
- the full charge capacity is reduced. Therefore, when the discharge current is set to the same value, the amount of change in the SOC after deterioration (corresponding to the slope of the graph in FIG. 11B) is initial. It becomes larger than the change amount of the SOC of the state. Then, before the integrated value of the discharge current reaches the lower limit value of the estimation condition, the SOC reaches the lower limit value (SOC L ) at time tq , and the discharge current becomes zero. Therefore, the frequency of estimating the capacity maintenance rate is reduced.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 decreases the lower limit value of the estimation condition based on the estimated value of the capacity maintenance rate. Specifically, the estimation condition determination unit 24 decreases the lower limit value of the estimation condition as the capacity maintenance rate decreases. Alternatively, the estimation condition determination unit 24 decreases the lower limit value of the estimation condition when the capacity maintenance rate is lower than a predetermined value. Thereby, even when the battery 11 is deteriorated, the calculation frequency of the capacity maintenance rate can be secured.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 sets a lower limit value of the estimation condition based on the internal resistance of the battery 11 or the usage period of the battery 11 instead of the estimated value of the capacity maintenance rate. Specifically, the estimation condition determination unit 24 decreases the lower limit value of the estimation condition as the internal resistance increases or the usage period increases. Alternatively, the estimation condition determination unit 24 makes the lower limit value of the estimation condition smaller than the predetermined value when the internal resistance is higher than the predetermined value or when the usage period is longer than the predetermined time.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 includes that the current integrated value is within a range from the lower limit value to the upper limit value and that the average current value is less than the average current threshold value.
- the fact that the detected voltage of the temperature sensor 14 is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature threshold is added to the estimation condition.
- FIG. 13 is a graph showing the characteristics of the internal resistance with respect to the temperature of the battery 11. As shown in FIG. 13, as a characteristic of the battery 11, when the temperature of the battery 11 is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, the internal resistance of the battery 11 changes at a constant value. On the other hand, when the temperature of the battery 11 is less than the predetermined value, the internal resistance increases as the temperature of the battery 11 decreases. Moreover, the error of the temperature sensor 14 increases due to the increase in internal resistance in the low temperature region.
- the OCV calculating unit 26 calculates the open circuit voltage
- an internal resistance is included in the calculation formula, so that an open circuit voltage error may increase in a low temperature region.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 adds to the estimation condition that the detected voltage of the temperature sensor 14 is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature threshold. Therefore, the calculation accuracy of the capacity maintenance rate can be increased while suppressing the influence of the temperature sensor error in the low temperature region.
- the estimation condition determination unit 24 includes that the current integrated value is within a range from the lower limit value to the upper limit value and that the average current value is less than the average current threshold value. Thus, it may be added to the estimation condition that the current detected by the current sensor 12 is equal to or greater than a predetermined current threshold value for a predetermined time. As shown in FIG. 6, if the low current period continues for a long time in the current integration period, the error of the current sensor 12 accumulates in the current integration value, thereby lowering the calculation accuracy of the capacity maintenance rate. Therefore, the estimation condition determination unit 24 according to the modification adds the current value condition of the battery 11, so that the current integration period includes a low current period (current period after time t 1 shown in FIG. 6). The current integrated value in the current integration period is excluded from the calculation target. Thereby, the estimation precision of a capacity
- the capacity maintenance rate estimated according to the present embodiment corresponds to the capacity maintenance rate calculated by the capacity maintenance rate calculator 28 or the full charge capacity calculated by the full charge capacity calculator 29.
- the current sensor 12 and the voltage sensor 13 described above correspond to a detection unit according to the present invention.
- the capacity calculation unit 29 corresponds to a capacity maintenance rate estimation unit according to the present invention.

Abstract
