Description
Modular device for the conversion of wave energy The invention relates to hydropower, namely, devices for the conversion and use of wave energy.
Known modular installation for the use of wave energy, including a wave receiving chamber formed by the bottom and guide walls that taper to the place of installation of the impeller, including a central cone of conical shape and an annular blade, which have a cross section in the form of a symmetric segment. The wave-receiving chamber is additionally divided by guiding partitions that go around the impeller, and is provided with a hatch and a discharge chute (see. Patent of Ukraine N ° 36832 AF03B 13/12).
A disadvantage of this device is the need to orient the inlet directly "against" the wave, and this is due to energy consumption, comparable or exceeding the expected power of the device. In addition, the vertical placement of the axis of rotation of the impeller does not allow the use of gravitational forces arising from the reciprocating movement of water masses in the surface layers of the reservoir.
The known device for converting the energy of waves on the surface of water into mechanical energy, which has a horizontal axis of rotation and contains many containers that are interconnected, are evenly placed cyclically sequentially, symmetrically with respect to the axis of rotation and at some distance from the axis of rotation and form a solid structure containing at least one full turn of the containers, with each container being limited by a housing that has a section that is forward relative to the direction of rotation of the device, the section relative to the direction of rotation of the device and the middle section located between the front section and the rear section, while in the rear section of each body there is an inlet opening through which the internal cavity of the container communicates with the environment, and the front section of the container body is provided with a valve that allows the fluid to flow over only in the direction from outside to the inside of the container and prevents the flow of fluid in the direction from the inside of the container to the outside (see. Patent of Ukraine UA J s 62659, F03B 13/12).
The disadvantages of the device include the use of valves and their unfortunate location. The authors suggest that a certain part of the useful work will be carried out due to the weight of water held in the container behind the closed valve located in the front section of the container. In statics this will certainly give torque to the entire device. But, in dynamics, this leads to the fact that when the entire structure is rotated, a counter-strike or a “slap” of a rising wave occurs on the front sections of the containers closed by valves, which should be lowered. And, since the valves have a significant hydraulic resistance, significant reversible loads occur, which counteract the force of gravity on the indicated capacities and the strength of Archimedes to the opposite capacities and suspend the rotation of the entire device. And this in turn leads to the fact that the device does not have time to work effectively with the further lowering of the wave due to the need to overcome the inertia force for the implementation of the desired rotational motion.
The closest in technical essence and reachable effect to the claimed device is a modular installation for the conversion of wave energy [patent for a utility model UA Ns 75844, F03B 13/12. Modular installation for wave energy conversion / Litovchenko Mikhail Yuryevich, Litovchenko Mikhail Mikhailovich, announced July 2, 2012, published December 10, 2012] (prototype), including a rotating wave receiving chamber made of several working chambers in the form of toroidal-shaped segments that are open on one side and closed on the other hand valve. The disadvantages of the prototype include the use of valves to regulate the flow of liquid, which are shown on the corresponding drawing in the form of a plate or thick plate. With a small model on the tests, the valve performed its functions with sufficient confidence and at the right time. But, when trying to increase the power of the device by increasing its geometric dimensions and cross-section of the working chambers in the next field experiments, certain problems arose. The valve was constantly “late” and the water did not have time to empty the corresponding working chamber in time. Various elastic and elastic materials for the valve have been tested, but all in vain. The reason turned out to be that, behind the valve, the water remained stationary relative to the chambers and the valve as a whole was “resting” on it. And this prevented him from opening fully in time. And in the half-open state, it blocked most of the bore through hole, thereby creating additional flow resistance. As a result, the process of filling and emptying the working chambers with water as the wave was raised or lowered was injected, which led to extremely undesirable reverse loads. And since the valve was in such a state for quite a long time, it constantly slowed down, and sometimes even stopped the rotation of the device, which significantly reduced its real efficiency.
The basis of the invention is the task of improving the device for converting wave energy, in particular the creation of the design of working chambers, which will allow the lossless use of the kinetic energy of the reciprocating motion of surface waves, regardless of their size, direction and configuration.
The problem is solved by the fact that in a known modular device for converting wave energy, including a rotating wave receiving chamber made of several working chambers in the form of toroidal segments, open on one side and closed on the other side By means of a valve according to the invention, the working chambers on one and / or the other side are closed by ventilation grilles.
The claimed invention is presented in figure 1 a General view of the module, consisting of one rotating wave receiving chamber, consisting of three working chambers, and a fragment of the central building (hereinafter referred to as the module) in layout with closed ventilation grilles on the rear sides of the working chambers. Ventilation grilles in the drawing version are depicted with rigid flat movable louvers. For an explanation of the principle of operation, the dynamic schemes in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 are shown. Depicted in FIG. 1, the working chamber 1 is fixed on a fragment of the central body 5 and has, with respect to the direction of rotation, the front side 2 and the rear side 3. In the drawing, the rear side 3 of the working chamber 1 is closed by a ventilation grill 4. But in some cases, depending on the conditions of use, the working the chamber is closed by ventilation grilles from the front or from both sides at the same time. This choice is made individually in each individual case and is primarily due to the ability to prevent clogging and fouling of surfaces with floating algae or mollusks, as well as the geometric dimensions of the device, which are due to the average height of the waves in the exploitation area. For the sake of ease of maintenance and unassembled transport, each working chamber can be made separately from two or more parts that have the possibility of compact folding into each other. Modules assembled at the operation site are attached coaxially to each other, either to the shaft, the axle or any supporting structure. To transfer the resulting rotational motion to a generator, pump or other device to perform useful work, an arbitrary design of a drive shaft is used, which is not shown in the figures.
The inventive device works as follows. A modular device for converting wave energy is fixed by any known method at the installation site so as to be on the surface of the water in semi-submerged state. If necessary, the use of hollow floats is possible for the acquisition of buoyancy. The incident waves will arbitrarily temporarily flood and drain individual working chambers, creating an imbalance of forces that ensures the rotation of the entire device and the transmission of torque to the device to perform useful work, which is not shown in the figure. The circular movement of the working chambers can be divided into areas of lowering (immersion) and lifting (ascent). The principle of operation of the device is shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 using the example of a cross section of one module out of three working chambers:
Phase 1, shown in Figure 2: Wave rise and relative "immersion" of the module.
On the working chamber 6, which conditionally “rises” on the ventilation grill 7, the blinds are closed under the action of overpressure, which prevents the flow of water from the outside into the chamber, and the buoyancy force of Archimedes FA begins to act on it, creating torque. In the working chamber 8, which “falls”, the blinds on the ventilation grill 9 can be opened freely and it can be easily filled with water according to the principle of communicating vessels.
Phase 2, shown in Fig.Z: Lowering the wave and relative
"Surfacing" module.
The water that filled the working chamber 8 in the first phase during the “immersion” of the module tries to leave the chamber and this creates a certain vacuum in it, which leads to the closing of the louver on the ventilation grill 9. As a result, the water can no longer leave the chamber and its weight FT creates a twisting moment in the same direction as the force of Archimedes FA in the "immersion" in the first phase. In the working chamber 6, which "rises", if necessary, open the blinds on the ventilation grill 7 and it is freely released from water, without opposing the rotation of the MODULE. To confirm the correctness of the assumptions, we built a prototype of a single module of the device for the transformation of wave energy and carried out tests first in the laboratory and then in actual conditions on the Sea of Azov. The overall diameter of the module was 1200 mm, the section of the working chambers - 300x300mm. The module consists of three working chambers, closed from the rear with respect to the direction of rotation of the side ventilation grilles with movable louvers. Of course, the blinds did not provide such tightness as the valve. However, in the end, they had a much lower hydraulic resistance, and minor losses due to fluid leakage were more than offset by the positive torque that the other working chambers created.
In the laboratory, one separate working chamber was progressively lowered and raised in a rectangular container with water with an amplitude of 250 mm and a period of 4 seconds. During field tests, the height of a real wave varied within 300 mm with a period of about 3-4 seconds. The tests were successful and fully confirmed the possibility of stable operation of the device. Both during the ascent and the descent of the wave, the prototype of the device received the necessary impulse from the action of the force of Archimedes or of gravity, and turned continuously. The main thing is that in the dynamic scheme there were no reverse loads, which in turn led to the stable operation of the entire device and a significant increase in its efficiency.
The tests and preliminary calculations show that the proposed modular device for the conversion of wave energy can be effectively used as a source of energy in coastal and island territories.
