  1.  ステアリングコラムが挿通する運転席側ユニットを、車幅方向の右側又は左側に選択的に取り付け、前記運転席側ユニットと略同一のユニット外形を有する助手席側ユニットを、前記運転席側ユニットとは反対側に取り付けることにより、右ハンドル車と左ハンドル車とに共用可能なインストルメントパネルであって、
     車室の前方で車幅方向に延びて起立し、車体側に固定されるパネル本体と、
     前記パネル本体の下端縁から上方へ延びて前記ユニット外形よりも僅かに大きく形成されて前記運転席側ユニットまたは前記助手席側ユニットが嵌合するパネル開口と、前記運転席側ユニットまたは前記助手席側ユニットが収容される前記パネル開口の内側のユニット収容空間とをそれぞれ有し、前記パネル本体の車幅方向両側に配置される左右1対のユニット収容部と、
     薄肉で形成される易切断部と、前記易切断部を切断することにより前記パネル本体側から切除可能なユニット固定部とをそれぞれ有し、前記左右のユニット収容部の前記ユニット収容空間に配置されて前記パネル本体と一体形成され、前記易切断部を切断しない状態で前記ユニット固定部に固定される前記助手席側ユニットを支持する左右1対のユニット支持部と、を備え、
     右ハンドル車の場合には、左側のユニット支持部の前記易切断部を切断せずに、右側のユニット支持部の前記易切断部を切断して前記パネル本体側から前記右側のユニット支持部の前記ユニット固定部を切除した状態で、前記運転席側ユニットが、右側のユニット収容部の前記パネル開口から前記ユニット収容空間に収容されて前記パネル本体に対して固定され、前記助手席側ユニットが、左側のユニット収容部の前記パネル開口から前記ユニット収容空間に収容されて前記左側のユニット支持部の前記ユニット固定部に固定され、
     左ハンドル車の場合には、右側のユニット支持部の前記易切断部を切断せずに、左側のユニット支持部の前記易切断部を切断して前記パネル本体側から前記左側のユニット支持部の前記ユニット固定部を切除した状態で、前記運転席側ユニットが、左側のユニット収容部の前記パネル開口から前記ユニット収容空間に収容されて前記パネル本体に対して固定され、前記助手席側ユニットが、右側のユニット収容部の前記パネル開口から前記ユニット収容空間に収容されて前記右側のユニット支持部の前記ユニット固定部に固定される
