Abstract
Description
高屈折率はレンズの薄肉化を可能とし、高アッベ数はレンズの色収差を低減するが、屈折率が上昇するほどアッベ数は低くなるため、両者を同時に向上させる検討が実施されている。これらの検討の中で最も代表的な方法は、エピスルフィド化合物を使用する方法である(特許文献1参照)。
しかしながら、コーティング手法では製造工程が煩雑となり歩留まりが低下したり使用中の剥離が発生したりする場合があり、一方、混合手法ではフォトクロミック化合物がイソシアネート等のモノマーと反応するため低屈折率のレンズ材料しか適用できなかった。
また、混合手法の屈折率が高い材料への適用も提案されているが、それでも屈折率1.60に止まっていた(特許文献6~8参照)。
すなわち、本発明は以下の通りである。
<1> エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)を含有する光学材料用組成物である。
<2> 前記光学材料用組成物中の前記エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)の割合が、エピスルフィド化合物(A)65~99質量%、ポリチオール化合物(B)0.9~35質量%、フォトクロミック化合物(C)0.001~10質量%の範囲にある、上記<1>に記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<3> 前記エピスルフィド化合物(A)が下記式(1)で表される化合物である、上記<1>又は<2>に記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<4> 前記ポリチオール化合物(B)が下記式(5)で表される化合物である、上記<1>~<3>のいずれかに記載の光学材料用組成物である。

(式(5)中、Xは、主鎖に-S-、-O-および-CO-からなる群より選択される1以上を有し、かつ、主鎖の炭素数が4~20のアルキレン基を表す。Xは、側鎖に、SH、炭素数1~10のアルキル基、炭素数1~10のアルキルチオール基、または炭素数1~10のメルカプトアルキルカルボニルオキシ基を有していてもよい。)
<5> 前記ポリチオール化合物(B)が下記式(6)で表される化合物である、上記<1>~<3>のいずれかに記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<6> 前記ポリチオール化合物(B)が下記式(7)で表される化合物である、上記<5>に記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<7> 上記式(7)におけるnが5~20の整数を表す、上記<6>に記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<8> 前記フォトクロミック化合物(C)が、スピロピラン系化合物、スピロオキサジン系化合物、スピロペリミジン系化合物、ベンゾピラン系化合物、フルギド系化合物、ナフトピラン系化合物、ジアリールエテン系化合物、およびアゾベンゼン系化合物からなる群より選択される、上記<1>~<7>のいずれかに記載の光学材料用組成物である。
<9> 上記<1>~<8>のいずれかに記載の光学材料用組成物を重合硬化してなる光学材料である。
本発明の光学材料用組成物は、エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)を含有する。
以下、本発明に用いる原料であるエピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)について説明する。
以下、エピスルフィド化合物(A)の具体例として鎖状脂肪族骨格を有する化合物、脂肪族環状骨格を有する化合物、及び芳香族骨格を有する化合物に分けて列挙するがこれらに限定されるものではない。
入手性の観点から好ましい化合物は、鎖状脂肪族骨格を有する上記式(1)で表される化合物であり、特に好ましい化合物は、ビス(β-エピチオプロピル)スルフィド(上記式(1)でn=0)、ビス(β-エピチオプロピル)ジスルフィド(上記式(1)でm=0、n=1)であり、最も好ましい化合物は、ビス(β-エピチオプロピル)スルフィド(上記式(1)でn=0)である。
例えば、ビス(β-エピチオプロピル)スルフィド(上記(1)式でn=0)は公知技術(特許第3491660号公報)に従い、合成することが可能である。
HS-X-SH (5)
式(5)中、Xは、主鎖に-S-、-O-および-CO-からなる群より選択される1以上を有し、かつ、主鎖の炭素数が4~20のアルキレン基を表す。Xは、主鎖に-S-を有することが好ましく、主鎖の炭素数は5~20がより好ましく、6~10が特に好ましい。Xは、側鎖に、SH、炭素数1~10のアルキル基、炭素数1~10のアルキルチオール基、または炭素数1~10のメルカプトアルキルカルボニルオキシ基を有していてもよいが、調光性能が良好であることから、式(5)は側鎖を有さない直鎖のポリチオールを表すことが好ましい。
ポリチオール化合物(B)の具体例は下記に示されるがこれらに限定されない。
具体的には、1,4-ジメルカプトブタン、1,5-ジメルカプトペンタン、1,6-ジメルカプトヘキサン、1,7-ジメルカプトヘプタン、1,8-ジメルカプトオクタン、1,9-ジメルカプトノナン、1,10-ジメルカプトデカン、ビス(2-メルカプトエチル)スルフィド、1,2-ビス(2-メルカプトエチルチオ)エタン、1,5-ジメルカプト-3-オキサペンタン、1,8-ジメルカプト-3,6-ジオキサオクタン、1,2-ジメルカプト-3,4-ジメトキシブタン、2-メルカプトメチル-1,4-ジメルカプトブタン、2-(2-メルカプトエチルチオ)-1,3-ジメルカプトプロパン、1,2-ビス(2-メルカプトエチルチオ)-3-メルカプトプロパン、1,1,1-トリス(メルカプトメチル)プロパン、4,8-ジメルカプトメチル-1,11-ジメルカプト-3,6,9-トリチアウンデカン、4,7-ジメルカプトメチル-1,11-ジメルカプト-3,6,9-トリチアウンデカン、5,7-ジメルカプトメチル-1,11-ジメルカプト-3,6,9-トリチアウンデカン、1,1,3,3-テトラキス(メルカプトメチルチオ)プロパン、エチレングリコールビス(2-メルカプトアセテート)、エチレングリコールビス(3-メルカプトプロピオネート)、1,4-ブタンジオールビス(2-メルカプトアセテート)、1,4-ブタンジオールビス(3-メルカプトプロピオネート)、トリメチロールプロパントリス(2-メルカプトアセテート)、トリメチロールプロパントリス(3-メルカプトプロピオネート)、ペンタエリスリトールテトラキス(2-メルカプトアセテート)、ペンタエリスリトールテトラキス(3-メルカプトプロピオネート)、1,1-ジメルカプトシクロヘキサン、1,2-ジメルカプトシクロヘキサン、1,3-ジメルカプトシクロヘキサン、1,4-ジメルカプトシクロヘキサン、1,3-ビス(メルカプトメチル)シクロヘキサン、1,4-ビス(メルカプトメチル)シクロヘキサン、2,5-ビス(メルカプトメチル)-1,4-ジチアン、2,5-ビス(メルカプトエチル)-1,4-ジチアン、1,2-ビス(メルカプトメチル)ベンゼン、1,3-ビス(メルカプトメチル)ベンゼン、1,4-ビス(メルカプトメチル)ベンゼン、ビス(4-メルカプトフェニル)スルフィド、ビス(4-メルカプトフェニル)エーテル、2,2-ビス(4-メルカプトフェニル)プロパン、ビス(4-メルカプトメチルフェニル)スルフィド、ビス(4-メルカプトメチルフェニル)エーテル、2,2-ビス(4-メルカプトメチルフェニル)プロパン、3‐チア‐1,5‐ジメルカプトペンタン、3,6‐ジオキサ‐1,8‐ジメルカプトオクタン、3,7-ジチア‐1,9‐ジメルカプトノナンを挙げることができる。これらは単独でも、2種類以上を混合して用いてもかまわない。
特に主鎖の炭素数が6~20のジチオールである1,10-ジメルカプトデカン、1,9-ジメルカプトノナン、1,8-ジメルカプトオクタン、1,7-ジメルカプトヘプタン、1,6-ジメルカプトヘキサンが好ましい。
ポリチオール化合物の添加量が少ないと十分な調光性能が得られず、また多すぎるとエピスルフィド化合物との反応性が低下するからである。
この特性を有する化合物であれば特に制限は無く、任意のものを選択して用いることが出来る。
例えば、スピロピラン系化合物、スピロオキサジン系化合物、スピロペリミジン系化合物、ベンゾピラン系化合物、フルギド系化合物、ナフトピラン系化合物、ジアリールエテン系化合物、アゾベンゼン系化合物等を挙げることができる。これらは単独でも、2種類以上を混合して用いてもかまわない。
0.001質量%未満ではフォトクロミック性能が十分発揮できず、10質量%を超えると光学材料の硬化不良や光線透過率が著しく低下する傾向があるためである。
この予備的な重合反応の条件は、好ましくは-10℃~120℃で0.1~240時間、より好ましくは0~100℃で0.1~120時間、特に好ましくは20~80℃で0.1~60時間である。
予備反応用の触媒の例としては、2-メルカプト-1-メチルイミダゾール、トリフェニルホスフィン、3,5-ジメチルピラゾール、N-シクロヘキシル-2-ベンゾチアゾリルスルフィンアミド、ジペンタメチレンチウラムテトラスルフィド、テトラブチルチウラムジスルフィド、テトラエチルチウラムジスルフィド、1,2,3-トリフェニルグアニジン、1,3-ジフェニルグアジニン、1,1,3,3-テトラメチレングアニジン、アミノグアニジン尿素、トリメチルチオ尿素、テトラエチルチオ尿素、ジメチルエチルチオ尿素、ジブチルジチオカルバミン酸亜鉛、ジベンジルジチオカルバミン酸亜鉛、ジエチルジチオカルバミン酸亜鉛、ジメチルジチオカルバミン酸亜鉛、ピペコリルジチオカルバミン酸ピペコリウムなどが挙げられる。
予備的な反応は、大気、窒素等の不活性ガス下、常圧もしくは加減圧による密閉下等、任意の雰囲気下で行ってよい。なお、予備的な反応の進行度を検知するために液体クロマトグラフィーや屈折率計を用いることも可能である。
エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)、並びに、必要に応じて硫黄、硬化触媒、酸化防止剤、ブルーイング剤、紫外線吸収剤、各種性能改良剤等の添加剤を混合して均一に調整して光学材料用組成物とした後、これをガラスや金属製の型に注入し、加熱によって重合硬化反応を進めた後、型から外して製造される。
特に、光学材料用組成物中の化合物に固体成分が含まれ、ハンドリングが容易でない場合はこの予備的な重合が効果的である。この予備的な重合条件は、好ましくは-10~120℃で0.1~240時間、より好ましくは0~100℃で0.1~120時間で実施する。
<屈折率>:島津製作所製屈折率計KPR-2000を用い、e線を20℃で測定した。
本発明において、屈折率は、1.67以上が好ましく、1.68以上がより好ましく、1.69以上が特に好ましい。
<フォトクロミック性能>:津製作所製吸光度測定器UV-2450を用いて、380~780nmにおける吸光度を測定した。
試験は、三永電気社製UV照射機SUPERCURE-204Sを用いて365nmの光を2mm厚の樹脂平板に照射し、吸光度が最大に達したときに照射をやめた。
照射を開始してから吸光度が最大値の半分に達するまでの時間(R1)、吸光度が最大値となった時の可視透過率(T1)、吸光度が最大値となった時の最大吸光波長における透過率(T2)、及び照射を止めてから吸光度が最大値の半分に達するまでの時間(R2)を評価した。
R1は発色するのに必要な時間の目安、R2は消色するのに必要な時間の目安であり、短いほど応答性が良好である。本発明において、R1は、40秒以下が好ましく、30秒以下がより好ましく、20秒以下が更に好ましく、15秒以下が特に好ましい。R2は、300秒以下が好ましく、200秒以下がより好ましく、100秒以下が特に好ましい。
また、T1は小さいほど調光の効率が良好である。本発明において、T1は、30%以下が好ましく、25%以下がより好ましく、20%以下が特に好ましい。T2は、50%以下が好ましく、40%以下がより好ましく、30%以下が特に好ましい。
エピスルフィド化合物(A)としてビス(β-エピチオプロピル)スルフィド 85質量%、ポリチオール化合物(B)として1,10-ジメルカプトデカン 15質量%、フォトクロミック化合物(C)として4-[3-フェニル-3-(4-ピペリジンン-1-イル-フェニル)-3H-ベンゾ[f]クロメン-6-イル]モリホリン 0.02質量%からなる組成物の100質量部に、重合触媒としてテトラブチルホスホニウムブロマイド 0.1質量部を添加し、室温で均一に混合した後、脱気処理を行った。
その後、1μmのPTFEフィルターにて濾過を行い、モールドへ注入して30℃から100℃まで20時間かけて加熱して重合硬化させた。その後、脱型し、100℃で1時間アニールし、2mm厚の平板光学材料を得た。フォトクロミック性能を表1に示す。
表1に示す組成である以外は、実施例1と同様に操作を行って光学材料を得た。フォトクロミック性能(R1、R2,T1、T2)を表1に示す。

フォトクロミック化合物としてVivimed Labs社製の調光色素を使用し、表2で示した組成で実施例1と同様の操作を行って光学材料を得た。フォトクロミック性能(R1、R2、T2)を表2に示した。
表2に示す組成である以外は、実施例6~28と同様の操作を行って光学材料を得た。フォトクロミック性能(R1、R2、T2)を表2に示した。

- エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)を含有する光学材料用組成物。
- 前記光学材料用組成物中の前記エピスルフィド化合物(A)、ポリチオール化合物(B)及びフォトクロミック化合物(C)の割合が、エピスルフィド化合物(A)65~99質量%、ポリチオール化合物(B)0.9~35質量%、フォトクロミック化合物(C)0.001~10質量%の範囲にある、請求項1に記載の光学材料用組成物。
- 前記ポリチオール化合物(B)が下記式(5)で表される化合物である、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の光学材料用組成物。
