Abstract
Description
該弾性層の表面は該表面層によって、該弾性層の表面形状が該帯電部材の表面形状に反映されるように被覆されており、該表面層は、下記式(1)で示される構成単位を有する高分子化合物を含む帯電部材が提供される。
該帯電部材は、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材であることを特徴とする電子写真装置。
導電性支持体は、その上に設けられる弾性層及び表面層を支持可能な強度と導電性を有するものである。導電性支持体の材質としては、鉄、銅、ステンレス、アルミニウム、又はニッケルの金属や、これらの合金等を用いることができる。また、導電性支持体の表面に、耐傷性付与を目的として、導電性を損なわない範囲で、メッキ処理等の表面処理を施してもよい。
弾性層は、帯電部材に、感光体とニップ部を形成することができる弾性と、導電性を付与するものであり、ベースポリマーと添加剤を用いて形成することができる。ベースポリマーとしては、帯電部材の使用温度範囲でゴム弾性を有するものであればよい。

表面層は、下記式(1)で示される構成単位を有する高分子化合物を含有する。かかる高分子化合物は、弾性層の表面を構成するポリエチレン粒子およびバインダーポリマーの双方に対して優れた親和性を示す。また、当該高分子化合物は、緻密な架橋構造を有するため、高い剛性を示す。

本発明の帯電部材を有する電子写真装置の一例を図3に示す。図3において、21は円筒状の電子写真感光体(以降、「感光体」と称する)である。感光体21は、支持体21b及び支持体上に形成された感光層21aを有し、軸21cを中心に矢印方向に所定の周速度で回転駆動される。回転駆動される感光体21の表面に押圧され、感光体に接触して従動回転するように上記帯電ローラ10が配置される。帯電ローラ10は導電性支持体11に接続される電源23から摺擦電極23aを介して供給される電源により所定の直流(DC)バイアスが印加され、ニップ部を形成して押圧される感光体をニップ部の近傍において所定電位に帯電する。次いで、スリット露光やレーザービーム走査露光等の露光手段24から出力される露光を受けることで、感光体の感光層21aに、目的の画像に対応した静電潜像が形成される。感光層に形成された静電潜像に現像部材25によりトナーが供給されトナー像が形成される。感光体上のトナー像は、転写材供給手段(不図示)から感光体と転写手段26との間の当接部に、感光体の回転と同期して供給される紙等の転写材27上に順次転写される。トナー像が転写された転写材は、感光体の表面から分離されて定着手段へ導入されて像定着を受けることにより画像形成物(プリント、コピー)として装置外へプリントアウトされる。トナー像転写後の感光体の表面は、弾性体等で形成されるクリーニングブレードを備えたクリーニング手段28によって転写残りの現像剤(トナー)の除去を受けて清浄面化される。
[導電性弾性層の形成]
下記表1の材料を、6リットル加圧ニーダー(製品名:TD6-15MDX、トーシン社製)を用いて、充填率70vol%、ブレード回転数30rpmで16分間混合してA練りゴム組成物を得た。
下記表3に記載の材料を混合し、室温で攪拌した後、24時間加熱還流を行い有機無機ハイブリッドゾルの縮合物ゾル1を得た。
画像形成に用いる電子写真装置として、A4サイズの紙を縦方向に出力可能なレーザービームプリンター(商品名:LaserJet P1005、ヒューレット・パッカード製)を用意した。このレーザービームプリンター用のプロセスカートリッジに、上記で作製した帯電ローラ1を組み込み、そのプロセスカートリッジを上記電子写真装置に装填した。
2500枚の印字濃度1%の電子写真画像のうちの1枚目~1000枚目について、目視で観察し下記表4の基準により評価した。
1枚目および2501枚目に形成した、黒ベタ画像を一部に含むハーフトーン画像を目視で観察し、帯電ムラに起因する画像欠陥の有無及びその程度を下記表5の基準で評価した。
帯電ローラ1の表面層の弾性率を測定するために、以下の実験を行った。すなわち、厚さ100μmのアルミシートの脱脂表面に、帯電ローラ1の表面層の作成に用いた表面層形成用塗布液1を塗布し、乾燥させて。塗膜を得た。この塗膜に、紫外線(波長:254nm)を、積算光量が8000mJ/cm2となるように照射して、硬化させ、厚さ10μmの硬化膜を得た。
また、このとき硬化膜中に式(1)の構造が含まれることを確認した。
帯電ローラ1の表面層をナイフで切り出し、走査型透過電子顕微鏡(商品名:HD-2000、(株)日立ハイテクノロジーズ製)を用いて表面層の断面から、その厚さを測定した。
帯電ローラ1の表面の十点平均粗さ(Rzjis1994)を測定した。十点平均粗さ(Rzjis1994)はJISB0601(1994)に準拠して測定した。測定条件は、評価長さ8.0mm、カットオフ値0.8mm、送り速度0.5mm/s、フィルター特性2CRを用いた。
実施例1と同じ方法にて調製した塗布原液1を、固形分が0.1質量%になるよう2-ブタノール/エタノールの混合溶剤で希釈した表面層形成用塗布液2を調製した。表面層形成用塗布液2を用いた以外は、実施例1と同じ方法で帯電ローラ2を作製した。この帯電ローラ2およびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
実施例1と同じ方法にて調製した塗布原液1を、固形分が2.0質量%になるよう2-ブタノール/エタノールの混合溶剤で希釈した表面層形成用塗布液3を調製した。表面層形成用塗布液3を用いた以外は、実施例1と同じ方法で帯電ローラ3を作製した。この帯電ローラ3およびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
実施例1と同じ方法にて調製した塗布原液1を、固形分が7.0質量%になるよう2-ブタノール/エタノールの混合溶剤で希釈した表面層形成用塗布液4を調製した。表面層形成用塗布液4を用いた以外は、実施例1と同じ方法で帯電ローラ4を作製した。この帯電ローラ4およびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を10質量部とした以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ5を作製した。この帯電ローラとその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を30質量部とした以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ6を作製した。この帯電ローラとその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を5質量部とした以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ7を作製した。この帯電ローラとその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を3質量部とした以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ8を作製した。この帯電ローラとその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を35質量部とした以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ9を作製した。この帯電ローラとその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子を高分子量ポリエチレン粒子2(商品名:PM-200、三井化学製 平均粒子径10μm)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ10を作成した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を10質量部とした以外は、実施例10と同様にして帯電ローラ10を作成した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の配合量を30質量部とした以外は、実施例10と同様にして帯電ローラ12を作製した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
ポリエチレン粒子として、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子1を10質量部、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子2を10質量部の計20質量部に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ13を作製した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
ポリエチレン粒子として、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子1を15質量部、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子2を15質量部の計30質量部に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ14を作製した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
ポリエチレン粒子として、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子1を5質量部、高分子量ポリエチレン粒子2を10質量部の計15質量部に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ15を作製した。帯電ローラ15およびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
表面層形成用塗布液を以下のようにして調製した。

弾性層に用いたポリエチレン粒子の量を10質量部に変更し、表面形成用塗布液の固形分を1.0質量%に変更した以外は、実施例18と同様にして帯電ローラ19を作製した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
表面層形成用塗布液を以下のようにして調製した。
弾性層にポリエチレン粒子を含有させない以外は、実施例1と同様にして帯電ローラ21を作成した。この帯電ローラおよびその表面層について実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。
表面層を形成しない以外は、実施例7と同様にして帯電ローラ22を作成した。
この帯電ローラについて実施例1と同様にして評価および測定を行った。

Claims (9)
- 導電性支持体、導電粒子が分散された弾性層及び表面層を有する帯電部材であって、
該弾性層は、ポリエチレン粒子を、その少なくとも一部が該弾性層から露出するように保持し、それによって、該弾性層の表面は粗面化されてなり、
該弾性層の表面は該表面層によって、該弾性層の表面形状が該帯電部材の表面形状に反映されるように被覆されており、
該表面層は、下記式(1)で示される構成単位を有する高分子化合物を含むことを特徴とする帯電部材:
- 前記ポリエチレン粒子は、重量平均分子量が200万以上のポリエチレンからなる請求項1に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記ポリエチレン粒子は、弾性層に対して5質量%以上、50質量%以下である請求項1または2に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記ポリエチレン粒子は、平均粒子径が、10μm以上、40μm以下である請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記表面層の弾性率が、1000MPa以上、20000MPa以下である請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記表面層の表面の十点平均粗さが、5~30μmである請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記高分子化合物が、式(10)で表される化合物を含む加水分解性シラン化合物の加水分解・縮合物の架橋物である請求項1~6のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材:

該帯電部材は、請求項1~8いずれか一項に記載の帯電部材であることを特徴とする電子写真装置。
