Description
Puzzle Cube Logical Toy
The subject of the invention is a logical toy Puzzle Cube being a closed shell of a body with its external shape in form of a 32-hedron or a ball circumscribed on a 32-hedron with customisable outer graphics made up of 102 parts of three types featuring 12, 30 and 60 parts each that can be moved freely relative to each other.
Rubik's Cube is a well know logical cube-shaped toy. Each face of the cube consisting of nine parts is marked with different colour. The player's task is to place the randomly arranged parts into their corresponding positions to form a cube where each face has a solid colour. The
composition of choosing colours is limited by the adjacency of the colourful walls and the toy's design allows to develop the mechanical method of placing the parts into their corresponding positions, and the player after some time and after mastering certain skills is gradually bored with the toy. A number of toys have been created with varied shapes different than a cube, e.g. balls and polyhedrons, based on the design principle of Rubik's cube where each moving part has its specific location and the parts of one type are rotating only around the axis of symmetry of the body going though their centre and cannot change their position relative to each other and the movement of parts of other type is possible perpendicularly to the body's axis of symmetry.
The group of such toys has its parts interworking and forming a single body at the same part.
A logical toy with its external shape consisting of 32 walls is known from the Polish patent description P.238966, where twelve parts of one type can only be rotated around their own axis of symmetry and cannot be repositioned in relation to each other. The parts of other types can move freely towards each other. The logical toy comprises 62 parts and the outer face of the body is determined by uniform hexagon fields and
pentagon fields split into ten triangular fields and one field of a smaller pentagon.
The essence of the invention is the construction of a logical toy Puzzle Cube being a closed shell of a body with its external shape made up of 32 walls or a ball circumscribed on a 32-hedron consisting of 102 parts of three types featuring 12, 30 and 60 pieces each that can be moved freely relative to each other along the specific tracks and neither piece is fitted permanently to another part. Moreover, on the outer face, bodies with customisable graphics determine uniform hexagon fields through the centres of which the axes of symmetry are running of the body inclined to each other by a constant angle and hexagon fields where each is split into six triangular fields.
The design of the Puzzle Cube toy, with its special face profiles of the contiguous sidewalls of the parts combine them to form a single body in a way enabling all the parts to move at the circumference of circles in the relevant planes perpendicular to the bod s six axes of symmetry and additionally enables the parts, through which the axes of symmetry go through, to rotate around such axes alternately with movements on the circle.
The subject of the invention is presented in more detail in the figure showing the Puzzle Cube logical toy in view.
As shown in the figure, the Puzzle Cube is comprised of 12 parts of type (1), 60 parts of type (2) and 30 parts of type (3), altogether 102 parts. The toy's construction is based on a regular 20-hedron the vertexes of which, slanted on the appropriate height, are forming a 32-hedron with the outer face made up of regular pentagons' fields (6) and regular hexagons' fields (7). The axes of symmetry of the 32-hedron (p) go though the centre of symmetry of the pentagons' fields (6) inclined to each other by a constant angle γ.
The body created this way divided by intersections in the planes (ττ-ι) and (π2) with the pairs parallel and at the same time perpendicular to the
body's each axis of symmetry (p), whereas each plane go through one of the faces of five pentagons contiguous to each other at their
circumference (6) joined with the longer diagonal of hexagons fields (7), creates a group of the body's outer and inner parts.
The Puzzle Cube logical toy is made up of the parts of the outer group forming a closed shell of the body shaped as a 32-hedron or a ball circumscribed on a 32-hedron the outer surface of which is created by the uniform fields of pentagons (6), of parts of type (1), and of hexagon fields (7) split into six fields of regular triangles including the parts of type (2) and of type (3).
Each hexagon field (7) of the body is constituted by three independent parts of type (2) and three parts of type (3) common for two adjacent (8) fields of hexagons (7).
In addition, the side walls with their surface touching each other of all the parts are specially profiled in such a way that the shell is combined permanently to form a body and also allowing them to move against each other.
All the side walls of the parts of type (1) have convex profiles (4) and all the side walls of the parts of type (3) have their profiles concave (5) and the side walls of the parts of type (2) have either convex or concave profile (5) or concave profile (4).
The planes (π^ and (π2) divide the body into the top and bottom bowl and the into central band in relation to each axis of symmetry. The top and bottom bowl and the central band is in one movement rotated by 2π/5 angle.
The solution according to the invention allows to use customisable external graphics for the Puzzle Cube logical toy depending only on its version starting with colourful fields of hexagons, colourful five-angled stars or the different forms of a football according to the principle of the known cubes to any graphical form, e.g. a globe according to the principle of coupled puzzles.
A game is played with the logical toy according to the invention by restoring the original condition for the given version of the body's external graphics that was randomly mixed in prior.
Properly selected external graphics will differentiate the advancement level of playing the game and force logical thinking concentration instead of mechanical movements according to pre-defined formulae.
An additional feature of the toy is its simple build enabling easy
independent assembly and disassembly into single parts which
encourages extra fun.
The Puzzle Cube toy with its graphics in form of a football is excellent for advertising purposes for any football event.
