Abstract

 可視光透過率の低い暗色領域と放電(発光)領域との位置ズレによる輝度の低下を防止して、PDPの明室コントラストを向上させる。 前面側の基板と背面側の基板との間に放電空間を形成し、前面側の基板の内面に面放電用の複数の主電極対と、その主電極を覆う誘電体層と、その誘電体層を覆う保護膜を有してなるプラズマディスプレイパネルにおいて、保護膜の表面に、主電極対の面放電領域以外の領域に対応する低可視光透過率層(5)が形成された領域と、主電極対の面放電領域に対応する低可視光透過率層(5)が除去された領域とを設ける。
