Abstract

 本発明は、一対の基板同士が導電部材を介して電気的に接続された液晶表示装置について、特に、額縁領域を可及的に縮小すると共に、その信頼性を高めることを目的とする。 シール材(13)は、複数の導電性粒子(15)を含むと共に、第1基板(11)又は第2基板の表面の法線方向から見て閉パターンを描くように形成されている。 第1基板(11)の額縁領域には、第2基板側の表面に、各画素(17)を駆動制御する駆動回路が形成された回路部(23)が複数設けられている。 第2基板における第1基板側の表面には、第2電極(対向電極)が形成されている。 第1基板(11)には、シール材(13)に含まれる導電性粒子(15)を介して第2電極(対向電極)に電気的に接続された第1電極(31)が形成されており、第1電極(31)はトランスファ(コモン転移とも称される)を構成する。 そして、第1電極(31)の少なくとも一部は、シール材(13)の交差部に重なるように配置されている。
