Abstract

 本発明は、対極への正孔および電子の突き抜けを防止する層を有さず、かつ、高効率で長寿命な有機EL素子を提供することを目的とする。  本発明は、陽極と、上記陽極上に形成された正孔注入輸送層と、上記正孔注入輸送層上に形成された発光層と、上記発光層上に形成された電子注入輸送層と、上記電子注入輸送層上に形成された陰極とを有する有機EL素子であって、上記発光層の構成材料のイオン化ポテンシャルをIp2、上記電子注入輸送層の構成材料のイオン化ポテンシャルをIp3としたとき、Ip2≧Ip3であり、かつ、上記正孔注入輸送層の構成材料の電子親和力をEa1、上記発光層の構成材料の電子親和力をEa2としたとき、Ea1≧Ea2であることを特徴とする有機EL素子を提供することにより、上記目的を達成する。
