- the individual planting units are usually provided with seed containers that hold the seed to be planted. The seeds are usually loaded one after the other into the seed containers of the planting units by the operator.
- Some seeders that contain plant units are equipped with pneumatic, on-demand seed delivery systems with which the seed boxes of the plant units are automatically filled with seeds from a main seed hopper, if required.
- Pneumatic on-demand seed delivery systems automatically route seeds from one main seed hopper to several individual planting units.
- Each of the individual plant units contains a seed auxiliary container for receiving seed, a metering device for metering the seed from the seed auxiliary container and a furrow opener for forming a planting color in which metered seed is deposited.
- a blower is used to generate compressed air, which generates an air flow with which the seed is conveyed to the planting units.
- Pneumatically demand-controlled seed delivery systems usually have a large, central seed main container that supplies all seed auxiliary containers on the planting units with seed.
- the main seed container and the pneumatically controlled seed delivery system can be arranged on a trailer or on the main frame itself.
- a seed drill of the type mentioned at the outset is provided with a left and a right main seed container, the left and right main seed containers being arranged in the transverse direction separated from one another by a space along the longitudinal central axis of the main frame.
- the seeder contains a transversely extending main frame, with a left and a right main seed container and a plurality of planting units being mounted on the main frame.
- An on-demand seed delivery system directs seeds from the left and right main seed boxes to the planting units.

If different types of seeds are positioned in the main seed containers, the left-hand planting units can plant one type of seed and the right-hand planting units can plant another type of seed. - Each of the individual planting units 14 (best shown in FIG. 4) contains a seed auxiliary container 18 for receiving seed, one Seed metering device 20 for metering the seed picked up by the seed auxiliary container 18 and a furrow opener 22 for forming a seed furrow in a field for receiving the seed metered by the seed metering device 20.
- the seed is passed through a seed tube 24 from the seed metering device 20 into the planting furrow.

- the extension frames 30, 32 can also be pivoted to the main frame 12 by means of horizontally aligned pivot pins coupled so that they can follow the ground contour better, as shown in Figure 2.
