- the invention relates to a refrigerator and freezer according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Refrigerators and freezers are already known in which both a refrigerator and a freezer are integrated in a single cabinet. Such combined refrigerators and freezers have very large dimensions, so that they are very difficult to transport. Problems arise especially when transporting through narrow and winding stairwells and corridors. In order to remedy this disadvantage, it has already become known to provide cooling and freezing devices with separate cupboard-like cooling and freezing parts, which can be set up side by side to form a unit while leaving an intermediate gap between the adjacent side walls. This arrangement has the advantage that a problem-free transport of the individual cooling or freezing parts is possible. Only on site are these parts combined to form the overall combination.
- 1 and 2 show a cooling and freezing device according to the prior art. 1 shows the cooling and freezing device 10 with the freezer part 12 and the cooling part 14 open.
- the respective doors 16 and 18 are each hinged on the outer wall.
- Both the freezer section 12 and the cooling section 14 are formed as cuboid cupboard elements which are set up side by side and are connected to one another via connecting rails 20 and 22, respectively.

- FIG. 2 shows a schematic section through a cooling and freezing device 10. It is clear here that the cooling section 14 has significantly narrower side walls 24 than the freezer section 12.
- a large-area heater 30 is installed in the side wall of the freezing part 12 in order to avoid condensed water in the gap 28 between the cooling part 14 and the freezing part 12 over which the air is heated in the gap 28 in order to avoid cooling below the cooling limit temperature and thus dew formation.
- a heater is not desirable from a design, energy and cost point of view.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to develop a cooling and freezing device according to the prior art in such a way that, while maintaining the desired advantages, the large-area heating in the gap area between the cooling and freezing parts can be dispensed with.
- this object is achieved by the combination of the features of claim 1. Accordingly, the space between the cooling and freezing parts of the cooling and freezing device to be set up side by side is sealed airtight by means of a seal. This prevents that in the cooler gap area between the cooling and the freezing area contains moisture-laden air that can be cooled below the dew point. Because no more moisture-laden air can enter the gap area, heating of the air in the gap area can also be dispensed with.
- the circumferential seal can be held in its position by holding means to facilitate assembly.
- Groove-like depressions for example, are embedded in the side walls as holding means. But pin-like extensions can also be used.
- the seal can advantageously be designed as a silicone seal.
- the side walls of the cabinet-like cooling and freezing parts arranged side by side can advantageously have the same thickness.
- the usable internal volume of the freezer compartment but also of the refrigerator compartment is increased.
- the thickness of the side walls is advantageously between 15 and 40 mm. Further details and advantages of the invention result from an embodiment shown in the drawing.

- the side walls 24 and 26 are made comparatively thinner here than in the case of individually standing devices. They have a wall thickness of 15 to 40 mm, preferably 20 to 30 mm.
