Abstract
A novel protein IRSAL which has an activity of modifying the physiological activity of insulin and controlling the intake of saccharides into cells; a gene irsal encoding this protein; a recombinant vector containing this gene; a transformant carrying this recombinant vector; a process for producing the above protein by using this transformant; an antibody against the above protein; and a method of screening a compound inhibiting or promoting the binding of the above protein to an insulin receptor substrate (IRS). It is intended to control tyrosine phosphorylation of molecules which cause abnormality in signal transfer in the early stage of the mechanism of expressing the physiological activity of insulin (in particular, an insulin receptor and IRS) or to control the signal transfer after the tyrosine phosphorylation of IRS.
