Abstract

A multi-layer flexible fire-retardant material comprises a series of layers and films in varying orders, for instance a central fire retardant layer provided on each side thereof, from inside out, with an insulation layer, an aluminium foil film, a polyester film and an outside fire retardant layer. The fire retardant layer(s) may be all provided internally of the aluminium foil films in order to provide increased reflectivity to the composite material. In some cases, no aluminum foil film may be necessary, for instance when a simple fire retardant insulative multi-layer material is required.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS[received by the International Bureau on 9 July 2001 (09.07.01); new claims 2 and 20; original claims 2 to 18 renumbered as claims 3 to 19; original claim 1 unchanged (3pages)]
1. A multi-layer material comprising at least one insulative layer means and an outer fire-retardant layer means provided outwardly on at least one side of said insulative layer means.
2. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 1, wherein said insulative layer means comprises a bubble-pack material .
3. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 2, wherein said outer fire-retardant layer means is provided outwardly on each side of said insulative layer means .
4. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 3, wherein each said fire-retardant layer is made of fiberglass means provided with fire-retardant properties.
5. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 4, wherein said fiberglass means comprise a fiberglass layer coated with a fire-retardant coating of an intumescent and/or non-intu escent composition.
6. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 3, wherein two said insulative layer means are provided between said outer fire-retardant layer means .
7. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 6, wherein an inner fire-retardant layer means is provided between said insulative layer means .
8. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 6, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided between said insulative layer means and each said outer fire- retardant layer means.

9. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 8, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each said aluminum foil film.
10. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 7, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided between said insulative layer means and each said outer fire- retardant layer means .
11. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 10, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each said aluminum foil film.
12. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 3, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided between said insulative layer means and each said outer fire- retardant layer means .
13. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 12, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each said aluminum foil film.
14. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 3, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided outwardly of each said outer fire-retardant layer means.
15. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 14, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each said aluminum foil film.
16. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 7, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided outwardly of each said outer fire-retardant layer means .
17. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 16, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each said aluminum foil film.

18. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 6, wherein an aluminum foil film is provided between said insulative layer means .
19. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 18, wherein a polyester layer means is provided outwardly on each side of said aluminum foil film.
20. A multi-layer material as defined in Claim 2, wherein each said fire-retardant layer is made of fiberglass provided with fire-retardant properties.
