Definitions

• the present invention relates to packs for liquids, particularly aerated and sparkling liquids. Such liquids have hitherto been packed in glass containers or metal cans. Attempts have also been made to pack aerated liquids in packs of laminated paper. However, this has been less successful because the carbon dioxide expands and is also capable of destroying the glued joins.
• the present invention is intended to enable the supply of oxygen- enriched and sparkling drinks in paper containers, without their being destroyed. This is enabled by the liquid inside a sealed paper container containing no carbon dioxide but instead containing pure oxygen gas which has been added to the liquid prior to its being filled into the container.
• the amount of oxygen is chosen in such a way that when a pack filled with oxygen-containing liquid is opened it will behave in the same way as an aerated or sparkling drink, bubbles being formed.
