Abstract

The invention concerns a method and tools for creating flanged lightening holes in workpieces, in particular shaped flanges in container walls made from the same material as the workpieces, i.e. container. The invention is characterized by the fact that the proposed method involves three process steps which can be carried out with only one change of tools. Thus, according to the invention, a press device is disclosed which facilitates the hole punching and deformation of the material while preventing cracks from forming in the material. Also disclosed is a tool with which the dimpling operation and final deformation process can be carried out in a single process step.
