Abstract

Un système de visionnement tridimensionnel comporte dux écrans de visualisation, de télévision par exemple (40, 42), disposés à 90°. Un dispositif de fractionnement de faisceau -un miroir à réflexion partielle en l'occurrence- est placé entre ces deux écrans (40, 42) de façon à diriger ces deux images vers le même point de visionnement. Un écran décodeur (40a, 42a) est intercalé entre chacun de ces écrans (40, 42) et ce dispositif de fractionnement de faisceau (46). Chaque écran décodeur (40a, 42a) comprend un substrat sur lequel sont fixés bord à bord de multiples éléments lenticulaires parallèles et allongés. Ce substrat présente de multiples zones transparentes et opaques faisant que l'écran décodeur définit de multiples positions de visionnement alternées depuis lesquelles il apparaît entièrement opaque ou entièrement transparent. Les deux écrans décodeurs (40a, 42a) sont configurés de manière que les positions de visionnement pour lesquelles un écran apparaît totalement opaque coïncident avec celles où l'autre écran décodeur apparaît totalement transparent. Lorsque deux images d'une paire stéréoscopique sont affichées sur les deux écrans de visualisation (40, 42), un spectateur, placé de manière que chacun de ses yeux se trouve à chacune de deux positions adjacentes de visionnement définies par les écrans décodeurs (40a, 42a), verra une image tridimensionnelle sans avoir à porter de lunettes spéciales.
