To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUis T.y BULLET', acitizen oit the United States, residing at lest Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Separable Fasteners; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the' characters 0f reference marked thereon, to a he a full, clear. and exact description ot'l-the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this applicatiom! and represent in Figure l a plan view of the socket-mein ber of a separable fastener constructed in accordance with my invention and shown as attached to a curtain.

Fig. 4 a longitudinal sectional View showing the socket-member lengaged with the post and in the locked position.

This invention relates to an improvement in separable fasteners, and while Iadapted for various purposes, is especially designed for use as a curtain fastener. In the more general construct-ion of fasteners of' this type. the socket member includes a Wire directly engage with a ost. I
The object of this invention is to provide a sheet-1netal slide which will positively engage with the post so as to interlock the socket therewith, and to providethat slide with a linger adapted to engage with the post and move the slide 'when the socket is turned in one direct-ion; and the invention 'consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims. i
In carrying out my invention, the socket member 8 comprises a back-plate 9, a frontplate 10, a. slide 1l, and a spring l2. The hackeplate is formed around its edge with two series of slots 14 and 15, through which vby Fig. 5 of the drawings. the tilting ofi` one side of the socket crowds theiinger 2t project fingers i6 and li' on'the front-plate g55. 10, the fingers 16 being turned down over the= back-plate 9 so as to interlockthe frontplate with the haclcpiate, the front-plate being slighti.r cup-shaped so as to forni 'a chamber l between them. The vfingers 1T; form prongs by which the socket-member may be attache-:i o a curtain 19. .'l`lieback.-I .l plate is also formed with a centralV opening.; 20 in one side of which is a notchlvfor.' the purpose as wili hereinafter. appear. The
front plate l() is formed with a central recess 22 in line with the openingg() in. `the back-plate. T he slide 1l is. located between the front and hack-plate and. is formed .with a clearanceopening 23 corresponding tothe opening 20, and with a projecting cani-iin; .l ger :2i which extends through thenotchl in the back-plate and is slightly curved so as to engage with one side of a post 13.
This post 13 is formed with an annular groove 25 the outer walletl which/forms a vhearingshoulder 2G for the slide ll. YVith- .in the chamber 1S is an S-shaped spring 12 the outer end of the post, the slide'iiioiing' est:
againstA the pressure of the spring to permit;
the head of the post to pass through the openings 20 andQB. As soon as tliesocket' is moved onto the post suiiit.'ientlifv the slide will spring into the annular groove and thereby irmljv interlock the socket with the post. I-n order to move the slide'out of e-ngagement with the post, it is necessary to lift one end of the socket so as to causewthe finger 24 acting like a-cain'. to `move the slide so asto bring the opening 23 i-ntoline with the opening 20. and permit the socket to he lifted off from thepost. As will hev seen against the side of the post so as to move the slide with respect to the front and backplates. It will thus be seen that while the socket may be readily detached from the post when the socket is tilted in one direction. the socket. will be positivelyv interlockcd with the post against movement in :in v other d'iiection. By using a sheet-metal locking slide a so' i
