UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HUGH MCAFEE, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO CONSOLIDATED LAMP & GLASS CO., 0F CORAOPOLIS, PENNSYLVANIA, A CORPORATION OF WEST VIRGINIA.
DESIGN FOR A LAMP-SHADE.
Application filed March 25, 1910.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGH MCAFEE, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Lamp- Shades, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which* Figure l is a perspective view of the design, and Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
This invention relates to a new, original and ornamental design for use in the decoration of lamp shades in general, but more particularly for the ornamentation of electrolier shades for table use, and for ceiling bowls.
It is also applicable to oil, gas or electric lights in various forms of construction employing shades, and comprises, generally stated, the following characteristic features, reference being had to the drawings and numerals thereon.
The numeral 1 upon the drawings indicates a circular shade-base, which is surmounted by a crown-shaped body portion 2, and has outwardly projecting or bulging sides 3. Overlying the said sides 3, and completely surrounding the structure circumferentially, is the representation of a trellis Specification for Design.

formed of intersecting cross bars 1, apparently forming a support for a grapevine 5, also surrounding the shade. From the said vine 5 at intervals are represented depending clustersof grapes 6 arranged in diametrically opposite pairs, each cluster extending transversely across the trellis 4, and terminating in close proximity to the shade base 1 while interposed between adjacent clusters 6, and in practically the same horizontal plane therewith, are grape leaves 7 also overlying the trellis 4f.
Above each grape cluster 6 is the representation of an additional grape leaf S all of which latter project slightly beyond the trellis 4 into the crown shaped body portion 2 or top of the shade, and it will be noted that all of said leaves 7 and 8, as also the grape clusters 6, are connected by the vine 5 completely surrounding the shade. And in disconnected relation at the top and center of shade the design is completed by a quadrifoliated leaf ligure 9 as best shown by Fig. 2.
I claim:
The ornamental design for a lamp shade, substantially as shown and described.
HUGH MOAFEE.
