SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,489, dated January 20, 1891.
Application filed October 20,1890. Serial No. 368,725. Term of patent 14 years.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JAMES BEESLEY and ARTHUR B. BENJAMIN, citizens of the United States, residing in New York city, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Electric-Arc Lamps, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming part :0 thereof.
The figure isaside elevation of an electricarc lamp, showing our design.
The leading feature of our design consists in a globe and a lantern-like frame closely I5 surmounting it.
The frame, which is cylindrical in general contour, has a dome-shaped top a and is composed of three connected bands b 1) b horizontally fluted into a series of annulets, the
upper band I) beingat the base of the dome a.
Between the annulet-bands b and b is a scroll-band c of two rows of double volutes, and below band if is a fringe c of similar double volutes. lhe larger and lower band b is surmounted by a similar band c of double volutes, and between this lower band and the upper bands is a series of rods (Z, having spherical knobs d. This portion of the frame so far described has somewhat the shape and appearance of an architectural lano tern.
Above the dome a is a ball e, having vertical flutes divided by a plain central horizontal band c, and above the ball is a columnf, surmounted by a capital the whole having 5 somewhat the appearance of an ornamental flue or chimney.
Below the annulet-band b is an invertedpear or balloon shaped globe h, to which the band b 0 appears as a crown.
Having now described our invention, what we claim is The design for electric lamps, thesame comprising a globe and a lantern-like frame closely surmounting it, as shown and described.
