APPLICATION FILED FEB. 3, 1903.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES J. AHRENFELDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A PLATE OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
To all whom it III/(11y concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. AI-IREN- FELDT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in theconnry of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new, original, and ornamental Design for a Plate or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawing, referred to herein, the figure is a plan view of a plate with my design thereon.
The middle portion Ct of the plate is plain and is joined to the flange or brim c by a step b. The periphery of the plate is undulate in form, being composed of a series of curves Z, connected by a smaller and sharper curve m, which said curves are repeated a number of times around said periphery. Ooextensive with each one of the sections composed of the two curves Z and curve m and following the periphery is the following ornamentation in relief: A reversed curve (1, composed of a series of parallel lines of unequal thickness and terminating in a flourish 6, turned abruptly toward the center of the plate, follows one curve Z and the curve on, and another orna mentation f similar to (1 follows the second curve 721 and terminates in an ornamentation g, resembling a flower and leaves, turned toward the interior of the plate. Then follows another ornament d similar to d, but without the inturned terminals, and then an ornament f similar to f and having terminals 6 and g similar to e and g, respectively. The ornamentation thus described is repeated around the periphery of the plate to form a continuous band or border.
This design may be applied to articles other than plates.
What I claim is The ornamental design for a plate or similar article substantially as herein shown and described.
Witness my hand this 12thday of January, 1903, at the city of New York, in the county and State of New York.
CHARLES J. AIIRENFELDT.

ERNEST H. BOISE, WILLIAM R. BAIRD.
