WILLIAM B. KERR, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BRUSH-BACK OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,409, dated December 10, 1901.
Application filed $eptember 3, 1901. Se
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM 13. KERR, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York ,city, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Brush'Back or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing is a plan View of the back of a brush-handle, showing my new design.
As shown in the drawing, the leading and material feature of my design consists of the face and head A of a beautiful woman having long streaming hair B and disposed and arranged as shown in the drawing and the representation of a flowering plant of the iris species extending across and over the surface of the back of the article and so disposed thereon with relation to the face of the W0- man that the latter has the effect of being borne and blossoming forth from the plant. The head stands out in bold relief on the back of the article and from the midst of a delicate flowering vine or plant of the iris species, and its buds and blossoms, of which it forms a part, and the face is slightly turned upward rial No. 74,253. Term of patent '7 years.
and to one side and the head appears to be growing from and reposing upon the flowering plant. 0 is the vine; D, its leaves; E, its blossoms, and F its buds. The hair of the figure is in a wavy or streaming condition and crosses the handle in natural graceful folds and is intertwined with the vine, and the twisted hair and vine extend down over the central surface and form the ornamentation of the handle H. The head is placed near where the handle joins the body, and the vine, its leaves, blossoms, and buds are spread out over the central surface of the body back of and above the head to cover the remainder of the body of the brush-back.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a brush-back or similar article as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my H name to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
